Citi PayAll Program to Be Shut down

Just spoke with a Citibank representative about my PayAll payment.

The representative informed me that in the next month or two, Citi will be writing to all cardholders to inform them of the closure of the PayAll program. Apparently this is a business decision that will impact all cardholders in Australia who are using PayAll.

Just wanted to inform the community, as I am sure there are many Citi cardholders here who utilise the feature (especially those set up on a 0% fee payment) and get a lot of value out of it. Don't think there is any alternative. It was a good run while it lasted!

We want to let you know we will no longer offer Citi PayAll on Citi Credit Cards effective 20 January 2025.
As a result, Citi PayAll payments with a due date of 20 January 2025 and onwards will not be processed.

    • Did you call via phone?

    • Once my last Payalls go through, I'm actually going to try for a partial refund, whilst keeping the card open.

      • Not sure why they would refund you AND let you keep the card. Anyway my pro rata refund was only processed once they canceled the card.

        • What did you do with your citi points?

          • +1

@Ozb101: Sent them to Krisflyer. Will have 3yrs to work out what to do with them.

            • @niyiaw: Did you do this as one lump sum or did you split over multiple transfers. The reason I ask is it was mentioned a massive lump sum could raise questions…

I would like to fly Singapore Airlines so I'm thinking KF too

              • @Ozb101: What questions?

I sent my balance through as a lump sum. But I had already sent some over 12 months ago for flights I booked.

    • Does the refund come through as a cheque?

  • will final actual PayAll be processed on Jan 16th or 17th?

    • +1

my bet is on 15th, as historically Sunday payalls were done on Wednesday

      • YES after all PAs cancelled today, my one scheduled at 15th is still kept, another at 17th gone.

  • +1

    It's (sadly) happening.

Just got an email that the PayAll I had scheduled for 21 January is cancelled. The one for 14 January is still on foot though (although I expect that subsequent payments will be cancelled too).

    • Just got emails for all my setup payalls being over. Was a fun ride while it lasted.

    • Also received emails. GG

    • I had a payall scheduled on the 17th , have they pulled the plug too early?

      • It should still be showing up (my one for 14 January still is).

  • +3

mine cancelled as well. typical of how NAB run stuff, inform customers of dates when key things will happen then don't follow it LOL

email said "Any existing PayAll scheduled payments will be cancelled 20 January 2025" but all cancelled today 8 days early.

    • I suppose it was any on or after 20 January that they cancelled today as it makes no difference when cancellation occurs. My one occurring next week hasn't been (although I expect it will be in due course).

      • Yeah i know why they did it, the point is they didn't inform their customers. In fact they specifically advised a date when they would do it then did something different. If it was the other way around there would be a penalty fee LOL

  • Just got the email confirming my 20 January PayAll transfer is cancelled. I was hoping it would slip through given it is usually paid out prior to the 20th.

Now to decide whether I should keep the card for Uber/PP or cancel for pro-rata refund. I have about 4 months left which costs ~$250, and tentative plans to travel interstate.

  • Just dumped out all my points into Flybuys. How long does the transfer usually take? Been 2 days so far and still waiting. Need to cancel the card asap as my annual fee is due in a few days

    • +1

I find usually in 2 full business days (not including the day you did the transfer). Should be there tomorrow morning maybe even late today

      • Thanks mate, as you predicted came through this arvo

  • Has anyone cancelled and succesfullt receieved pro-rata refund yet? Mine is due for renewal in mid-March. Given its only two months i feel like they may not provide any refund so waiting to see if people are having any success.

    • +1

I cancelled today and got $16 pro rata refund which will be provided via cheque.

      • How long did you have left on your annual card membership?

        • Due on 1 March

  • +1

They went early in my last one (Jan 11). Went 4 days early, not 3. Funds landed in the afternoon 4 days before and missed the morning processing.

Called up and they agreed and said to redo it and they will waive the fee.

    Earliest option was Jan 20.

    Naturally that just got cancelled.

Will give it to AFCA. Can't lose the last one !!

  • The good thing about PayAll ending is I can now get my statement date moved to a more appropriate day of the month to better work with the card becoming a 44 day one instead of the previous 55 day. TBH the card is a lot less useful as a 44 day interest free card when you have three other 55 interest free day cards to use instead, but if you can move the statement date to the day before predictable regular large expenses being required each month, then you can at least maximise the 44 days to the best advantage and/or spread out multiple credit card statement periods equally across a month so there's always one available within 5 days of starting a new billing period.

  • Tossing up whether I should keep this card and take up the bt promotional offer.

I’ve got a bt offer for 0% interest for 9 months with 2% bt fee. My credit limit is $25k. 80% is ~$20k sitting in my offset account for 9 months saving ~$900 in interest (6.20% interest rate). The bt fee is $400, so will be ~$500 up at the end of the end of the 9 months. This pretty much pays for the annual fee and I get to retain priority pass. Should get decent value from PP with 2-3 interstate trips this year.

Only negatives is won’t be able to use the card for retail purchases as interest of 22%+ will be charged…

  • I can't seem to access the Citi chat online. Can anyone help? I must be doing something wrong. Every time I go to "Contact Us" after logging in, it brings up a page here I'm logged off and I click on "Chat" and then it just has me log in again. Cycle repeats.

    • +2

The chat is a little rectangle bubble icon on the right hand side of the webpage once logged in. The contact us page doesnt work for me.

      • +1

Thanks. Wow. I never looked that far to the right.

Super easy closure using chat. Pro-rated card refund will apparently show next business day. Cancelling the Citi Ready Credit (Lending) cannot be done online, so have to ring.

Cancelled card and asked for prorated refund and the rep was ok with that.

  • Yeah my payalls for 17, 18 and 20 Jan all got canned by them. Tossing up whether to wait for a virgin transfer bonus, likely to make a big difference with over 2m points. I think one person was quoting March generally they come up

  • +1

A warning: I had set a reminder to close my account on 1 April, since the annual fee was charged last year on 10 April. The slimy bastards charged the annual fee a month early.

I had to ring them and ask them to refund it (which they did) at the same time as closing my account.

    • +1

This happened to me too, checked last year and I was charged annual fee in March then this year I was charged it in Feb.

Queried them on it and they said Feb is actually my anniversary date, went through my records and they were right.

  • Called Citi to follow-up on annual fee pro-rata refund, the rep had me on hold for a couple min while looking into it before just transferring me to an escalation team member. They then advised I am not supposed to be entitled to a refund if the card has transactions after annual fee is charged. However, they then said because it sounds like I was provided incorrect information they would confirm this is the case and get back to me with a resolution…

    • That is BS. I cancelled with about 1.5 months left before the next annual fee and get 1.5 months back pro rata. Granted, this was not too long after they announced the end of PayAll. I didn't use that as the reason for the request though, but had that in my back pocket just in case. I used the chat, not calling. Note that once they cancel your card, you lose access to your account online. It's unreal how they do this.

      • Same for me Re: pro-rata refund. Cancelled 3 months ago and got a cheque in the mail with the refund a few weeks after final statement.

Also as a data point: I got the $100 uber credit back for a ride I used in December, this was after I had requested to cancel the card (so between the cancellation and final statement), so an extra $100 was added to the cheque I received in the mail. Lucky me.

Just got screwed. Called citi to cancel my card and asked for a prorated refund. They refused! When I reminded them that i spoke to someone in December who promised me I would be able to get a prorated refund and to check my account notes, they said the terms have changed since then and all they could offer me is $250 good will gesture…

So I guess off to the financial ombudsman I go…

What happened to cancelling after your last payall in Dec?

When did you first sign up? If you've already had more than 6 months of payall then I would probably just take that $250.

      • -5

Well the last payall was still after I was charged the annual fee and called up to confirm that I would still be prorated refund if I cancelled later. I had an overseas trip in December and February to use priority pass so thought I would just cancel after that.

I've had 2 years worth of payall so I'm definitely coming out ahead no matter what, but I just can't believe they refuse to honour what they said to me back in December.
