Normally $72/kg?! What is so special about this stuff?

Good quality and freshly roasted specialty coffee isn't cheap buying by the kilogram.

Most ozbargainers seem to consider anything outside of stale grocery store coffee too expensive though, so i'm not surprised to see these sorts of comments..

That's my point though - thanks to OzB I've become very accustomed to spending around $35 - $45 for high quality fresh roast beans. $57/kg is up around when I run out before the next deal and have to go to my local roastery.

$72/kg is orders of magnitude higher than I've ever paid, but coffee is a true guilty pleasure so I'm not necessarily against paying it it's the ducks nuts.

        • Yeah that's fair - I personally wouldn't pay $72/kg for a blend in most cases, at that price point i'd typically be looking for a single origin.

That being said, the coffee I buy is usually in 250g bags in the $20-30 range so i'm well aware I splash out more than a lot of people. I don't drink or spend a heap on other non-essentials, so it's my guilty pleasure too!

Humbler? the price is no way near humble. Prouder coffee maybe?

Way to much for me to consider.

This coffee is outrageously good through a home espresso machine.

I have a full auto Jura machine, and this is all I buy, have never found better.

    Cafe veteran here
Proud Mary has been the top dog in specialty coffee for quite sometime now. I remember they were charging wholesale around $50/kg in the late 2010s
Their stuff is generally pretty good and obviously come with the price tag for it.

Not really a ozBargainer thing where most are after quality:price ratio = good-great:dirt cheap
This is more like incredible:above average

humm. you are getting me very interested.

general question. If I buy this 1KG pack and do a double shot everyday (20g for my settings), how long can these beans last fresh/tasty for? is there a way to keep fresh vaccum jar? freeze?

      Many thanks

      • +2

Anytime within 4-6 weeks of roast date most beans are still going to be good, some beans longer and some might have a slightly shorter optimal 'window'.

As for storing, freezing is definitely an option - if I ever buy 500g or even 1kg lots, I will have ~250g out and freeze the remainders in 250g lots.

        • thanks heaps

          • @HD9990: I buy this stuff whenever it goes on sale (like today, just bought 4kg!) - and stick the bags in the freezer until I'm ready to use them. I'd say they only lose about 1-2% per month of their awesomeness in the freezer.

    • a cafe in my work building used to get them in 2017-2019 at $40/kg for Humbler - I know because they used to sell them to me at that price as a perk of me eating there pretty much every day.

  • Srsly good coffee. Any deals on the Wild blends?

  • +1

If considering this I’d suggest it would be better to order it from direct coffee.

$57 flat delivered via Australia Post (express).

Proud Mary charges approx $13 for delivery.

  • Ive had this coffee before and i don't think its any better than other roasters on here doing 35-40$ kilos.
