  • What is the roast date in relation to when I out the order in? Can I expect beans that were roasted within a week of order?

Currently using either reformatory labs or St Ali orthodox beans but looking for something cheaper (and most importantly, easier to buy)

    Thanks.

    • morning @butter appreciate you taking the time to reach out, sounds like a terrific opportunity!

We dispatch all our orders nice and fresh "You're welcome to place multiple orders scheduled for dispatch at various dates (delayed dispatch) to make the most of this deal, we strive to dispatch our fresh coffee within 72 business hours of roasting" :)

    • Technology sure is moving forward leaps and bounds every day!

I haven't yet jumped on ChatGPT to see what it can do, but I'll likely check it out one day as I've heard it can do some amazing things :)

          Hmm that's an idea :)

I'm not sure if I'll have time to be up to scratch with the AI tech in the near future, but when I do have the time I may write the main post myself and then put an AI summary of the post up for those who are too flat chat to reach my small novels haha

          • +18

@LimeBlueCoffee: Please don't. Your posts are perfect. We don't need this AI nonsense here.

            • +1

@freedomofspeech: haha looks like a debate has started!

Terrific to know you're happy with my post style. If I did the AI summary thing, the intent wouldn't be to replace what I write, it'd be an additional summary on top of my post write up, ironically making my posts longer. Feedback duly noted and I haven't even checked out the tech yet, so I may have a look and think exactly as you do or I may find a hidden gem feature in it, but either way I don't intend to stop writing mini novels any time soon :)

            • +2

@freedomofspeech: Agreed. You format your posts in a very "scannable" way, so that it's easy to find the information I want. Keep it up.
I'm looking forward to this Brazil SO.

              • @jazzninja: Wonderful to hear on all accounts, absolute music to my ears, thank you so much for the complimentary feedback!

Fantastic to know you're looking forward to enjoying our delicious (only a slightly biased comment) Brazil Single Origin and that we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

If you mean sucking all the humanity from the post, then yes, I am all on board with Tim Apple's delayed "intelligence".

          Hey Siri, how's the weather?
This is what I found on the web for how's the weather.
Never mind, I just looked outside the window.
          You're welcome.

  • Anything available for us fruity filter purists? The São Paulo sounds a bit too chocolatey for pour overs.

  • Thank for all your great deals, I love your coffee! Had I known your Brazilian and Mexican coffee would be on sale at the same time I would have waited to buy the Mexican coffee so that I could have saved on shipping!

    • +2

WOW @JRozells what an uplifting vote of confidence, thank you so much for your recent order with us and that terrific compliment!!!

I literally didn't know until late last night that both deals would be live at the same time, until I suddenly realised there's 3 public holidays over the next two weeks (next Friday, the following Monday and the Friday of that week), so we need to be extra on top of planning in the near future ahead of time to ensure any extra stock needed arrives in time. If your order hasn't been dispatched yet and you'd like to make an edit, simply click the "edit or view your order" button in your confirmation email and make any edits you'd like (if the increase qualifies the order for free shipping, the system will allow you to select it and in turn it will automatically refund the shipping cost you've already paid) or just send a reply email to that same email letting us know the changes you'd like and we'll make them happen for you. Alternatively if the good stuff's already on the way to you, you could still make the most of these deals just ordering today and setting the dispatch date as far in the future as 26th June by utilising our unique scheduled/delayed dispatch system :)

      • My order is already on they way so it's too late. I also want this coffee to come asap so that I can run the Mexican coffee as pour over black coffee and this for milk based espresso coffee. Looks like I'll just have to freeze some of both and give some of it away!

        • Freezer saves the coffee day again!!!

Love the sound of that combo idea, thank you so much for another terrific order, it's truly appreciated :)

  • Are you able to offer the decaf coffee ground as opposed to beans?

    • +1

Always better to ask than wonder!

Right now we dispatch all coffee orders exclusively in whole bean form. I know it's a bit of an initial expense to get your own coffee grinder, but we do currently have some coffee grinders on special, so it may be a good opportunity for you to take the plunge to switch to grind on demand, which should in turn improve your coffee flavour enjoyment ten fold compared to using preground coffee :)

  • This is a question for anyone (Specifically with BDB) use this roast (Brazil). First time I bought Brazil bean from LBC, it was heaven. 20g in and 20g out as prescribed gave me the perfect kick. The bean was only one week old since roast date but regardless.. I love it.

I havent been able to replicate that on my consequences Brazil orders. Not a dig to LBC at all, but I was wondering if anyone "alter" the recipe to their preferred settings to achieve maximum taste? I know some people religiously starts with 19g, some like its with 30g output, and I had been playing with various combos lately with little luck. The coffee was not bad at all, but the memory of great taste from LBC Brazil beans a few months ago was still my ultimate goal. If you have any tips/trick I would love to hear :P

I ordered this one, btw :P

Hey @cloud68 absolute music to my ears to know you "love" our fantastic Brazil Single Origin, thank you so much for another terrific order!!!

Nothing has changed from our side, the roast profile and green beans (unroasted coffee) are the same, so my guess is your machine may need a few small tweaks. I'd wouldn't recommend going under 20g with the Breville Duel Boiler. You could increase to 22g with that basket size, but you enjoyed a 20g dose so I think it's best to stick with that. When you get a sec could you please send a reply email to your order confirmation once your next Brazil order arrives from us and I'll do my best to help tweak any machine settings needed remotely :)

      • Will do, Thanks….

I am going through Peru atm but I appreciate your help. Btw when the recipe said 20sec to achieve 20g output from 20g input, does that include 10sec induction (First 10 sec before water start pouring?). I usually do that, meaning that average timer including induction is 30 sec. Not sure if thats too long but the pressure is consistently 9 bar with those settings

        • +1

I had the same question, what I learnt is pre-infusion time contributes to total brew time. The time that is measured is the water contract time rather than the water flowing out time. I think I picked that up from James Hoffman or Lance Hendrick.

          • @plastic spoon: I wish this is the case for me. Around 20 sec mark as suggested and 9 pressure bar I only get around 10g of coffee :(
To hit 20g output I have to let it round between 26-30 sec

      • How does this taste with a milk based espresso recipe? something like 2:1 with milk?

        • +1

I personally like 130g of milk over 20-25g output. Different preference for everyone

          • @cloud68: yeah 130g of milk isn't a lot. Was wanting a recipe with a bit more coffee to milk ratio without losing the coffee. Unfortunately the max I can fit in my basket is 20g :(

    • +2

I have a 18g VST basket + puck screen. I was doing 18g in to 45g out using a temp of 92c. Can't remember time, but would of fallen in the 20 to 30secs range. This was always mixed with milk between 100 to 150ml.

Typically what I've been with my orders is getting a shot about right, then pulling a 1:1, 1:2, 1:2.5 and seeing what I like most. Then I might adjust temperature normally between 90 > 96, I've found 92, 94 to generally be pretty good middle ground.

The key is first get something you can do repeatable, then make adjustments and see how it tastes.

      • During the batch that I mentioned was Heaven, I got very consistent result with 20g in and 22-25g out in under 30 sec and 9 pressure bar. Using the same formula, I haven't been able to replicate that 5 batches later

  • anyone have a cafelat robot they are wanting to sell?

  • +4

Upvoting for reliable service, excellent shipping and batch options, great regular deals and most importantly fresh and quality coffee beans

    • WOW WOW WOW @s3n what an uplifting, wonderful vote of confidence, thank you immensely!!!

Absolutely terrific to know we're firmly in your good books, it's something we won't take for granted and I promise we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

  • Are the Brazil SO and the half strength similar in terms of grind settings for coffee machines? Or does it require complete re-dialing?

    • +1

Hey @freedomofspeech nice question, always better to ask than wonder!

It really depends on the type of grinder you have. If you have a stepless grinder, then yes. If you have a stepped grinder, then most likely yes, but depending on how big the step are you may be better off not changing. If you have a fully automatic machine like a Jura, I always find the best results on those come from the finest grind, highest dose and tweaking the yield :)
