Get back to us when it's the 18-40 lens

    • +2

other than size, 20-60 is probably the better lens in terms of usable range and optics.

  • lol this camera really just isn't selling. If only there was a version with a viewfinder, hotshoe, and evf……..

lol, don't believe every bs/opinion you read on the internet.

s9 is selling like hot cakes in Japan as revealed by Map Camera. In June, it was the 2nd most popular camera and outsold even the A7Cii, Zf and even the X100VI !!

if you pair the S9 with Sigma "C" lenses like the 24 or 45mm f/2.8 it's actually the perfect EDC.

      • Oh wow interesting, surprised to here that. Always felt that the electronic shutter only on the slow reading sensor would be a deal breaker for most, but good to find people are enjoying it :)

        • well, only bad if you shoot sports.

as an EDC, it's more than enough tbh.

not sure why the online community expect so much out of an entry-level camera.

        • They were selling quickly because it was the release month.
The S9 has not made the top 10 in September or October.

          September 2024 Sales

          • @Julius: but still, it's impressive that it made it into top-10 during release month despite all the hate + marketing blunders from Panny.

many good cameras don't even touch that list.

Are you telling me this doesn't have a viewfinder? What the hell? May as well just use an iPhone 15/16 then, for this price. At least it will fit in your pocket, and you won't have to sit in front of the computer editing raw files.

        Who keeps downvoting us LOL

Honestly, Panny has been disappointing this year.
        We need something new.
The GH7 had 90% of what a G9 II has, and the S9 is an S5 II with a slimmer body.
I'm not sure what's going on at HQ, as they haven't released successors to the S1R and S1H yet. Both these cameras are from 2019!!!

        • S1R and S1H are still fine for 99.95% of consumers and are still very relevant today, could be had for peanuts lol…

idk what's the point about the age of the camera tbh, plenty of photographers still use DSLRs tho they are slowly making the switch to mirrorless. it's the photographer, not the camera. A 5Diii or D810 can still take amazing photos today granted you have the right gear to support them. You can still take them to sports event and they would not miss a beat.

          • @dukeGR4: Look, I agree with you that skills matter. You can get by with just the right composition. S1R and S1H are great cameras, but I would not want to spend thousands of dollars when they have an out-dated AF.
It's just crazy how the S1 series have not been announced by now - instead the announcement is delayed and we get the S5D which lacks PDAF.
I like Panny cameras, especially their MFT line, but it does not inspire confidence in putting money into L-mount.

Hope I'm proven wrong in 2025!

I put it to you that you could get by with S1's AF, especially if you do not shoot professionally and in sports.

thousands of dollars? they're barely over 1k in mint condition mate. i spent 3x that on its boujee sibling (SL2-S) and i still think it's worth it. absolutely zero complaints about AF lol and all my Sigma lenses have stepper motor rather than linear one.

but it does not inspire confidence in putting money into L-mount.

There's S9 and S5iix which are both reasonably priced and have PDAF. If you want flagship body with PDAF, there's also the Leica SL3.

      • then use your iPhone lol because it just sounds like you're not really in the hobby/market.

Bought - insane value. And yeah, they're likely clearing out for a new 18-40mm kit.

  • *Ex Display Models - 5 year Warranty

    • I could be wrong but I don't think the page said that before.

  • Hopefully similar prices for the S5ii soon

  • So appears to be 1 Ex Display Model available at Ted's Cameras Maroochydore
    50 Plaza Parade, Maroochydore, 4558.
Nice savings on RRP but insufficient stock.
