Q Acoustics 5050 & Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 Amplifier Bundle from $3999 Delivered @ Addicted to Audio

130

I was on the market for a good stereo, all in one streamer + amplifier, and came across this deal.
Given Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 costs itself around $4k, you basically get free QA5050 floorstanding speakers (usual retail around $3k mark).

Extra $25 for express shipping made delivery happen in 2 days in metro Sydney.

There are similar deals for other Q Acoustics speakers at the moment at Addicted to Audio

You'd most likely upgrade the speakers. Addicted to audio has got some really "cheap" items, specially Dynes like this one:

I have the Xeo20 version ( and have had many other Dynes before), for powered bookshelf, it punches way above its weight.

I'm not an expert/audiophile, but I don't think I'd ever connect an active speaker to a Lyngdorf amp… plus, I doubt they're much better than QA5050…

      • Active speakers have built in amp- its all in one, almost, just add a streamer or player. Dynes will be head and shoulder better than the QAcoustics ( I had one before )

        • oh so you have had the q acoustics 5050 or other speakers from that specific range?

Your comment reads like you're saying "buy the amp and speaker package and upgrade the Q Acoustics for the Xeo-30's"
Your suggestion of adding active speakers to an amp is… novel.

          • @Seymore: which comment suggests adding or bypassing the built-in amp of an active speaker? If it is the last one, you may want to read it again, I said add a streamer or player/source.

@blackpizza: The comment where you suggest someone buying this bundle of amp and speakers would then upgrade the speakers to a pair of active ones.

        • Dynaudio makes fantastic speakers, no doubt - but with the high-quality amplifier built into the Lyngdorf, there’s really no scenario where you’d want to bypass it in favor of a powered speaker.

Auditioning other speakers like Dynaudio in place of the Q Acoustics is certainly reasonable, but you'd want to audition passive speakers.

Given the exceptional value of this combo (essentially a set of $3,000 speakers at no extra cost, as the OP mentioned), you’d need to be either very disappointed in the Q Acoustics or extremely impressed by the alternative to pass on this deal.

@c1ockwork: I never suggested to by pass the built-in amp of the Xeo 20/30. I am almost 100% sure that the Xeo 30 will sound "better" than a Lyngdorf and Q-Acoustic combo.

The Dynaudio stereo in my old Volvo was banging. I miss it.

      • Yes - even the factory 'Hi-Performance' systems in the older Volvo's were surprisingly good. Volvo really started Hi-Performance factory audio so far as I'm aware (those awful factory Bose systems around the same time don't count), and the Dynaudio Pro-Logic systems was certainly the best factory system I'd ever heard at the time.

I optioned the B&W system in my S60. It was expensive, but if you're an audio nerd, so very very worth it!

  • Thanks OP - been waiting for a deal like this for a long time. Hope Roomperfect is as good as ive heard 🤞

    • Hope it'll serve you well. The amp replaced my $1k-ish midrange Denon, and I was amazed how it improved quality, presentation, stage and most importantly (and rather unsurprisingly) mids of my KEF speakers.

On the note of speakers… I was doubtful whether QA5050s can match equivalent in value (they were also around $3k) and very well reviewed KEFs Q900. And it was a big surprise - Q Acoustics 5050 are fantastic, outperformed KEFs out of the box in almost all aspects: better dynamics, better clarity, wider soundstage, an so on. They're slightly more bright than KEFs, which is typically not my preference, but at the same time come surprisingly good, deep and well controlled bass. KEFs are parked and I'm not coming back.

  • I'm totally new to this, is the Lyndorf the overall best amp (from cost vs features / performance perspective) from the available bundles?

Looking for a setup where I can play from music streaming services, as well as hooking up to the tv for movies and shows (streaming too). Am also thinking of getting a sub, and probably a mid speaker for vocals (tv and movie wise).

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    • You won't be able to use a center channel speaker with any of the amps part of the deal. They're all stereo amps.

Also you definitely want a subwoofer if you're spending that kind of money in the first place.

  • Thanks OP, when is the deal going to expire?
