Bro is this subwoofa more hektik than ma 2002 pioneer subs in ma lowred wrx?

    • +5

than ma 2002 pioneer subs Sony Xplods

FTFY. Xplods were the fully sick P-Plater's woofer of choice circa early 2000s.

Pioneer/Alpine units were reserved for the more refined hoon with a slight taste for some mid-range frequencies every now and again.

  • Oh man the PB-3000 is super tempting… but I'm waiting to see if there are other deals like the Tonewinner D6000

    • Can't go wrong with the PB-3000 @ 30% off. This only happens once a year remember :)

      • I know, I've been on the fence with this sub for a couple of years, then literally three months ago my HT subwoofer died lol….

        • +2

You can go around in circles on all the different subs !!! What had you used previously before it died ?

          • +2

@WCHIFI: A custom subwoofer, ported @ 21Hz 10" Dayton RSS265HF-4 with an O-Audio amp that was built over a decade ago. I "could" just replace the plate amp, but what a great excuse to buy a new subwoofer lol.

Will need to somehow convince the minister of war & finance first.

      • If only it was REL.

Upvote to the rep for transparency in posting!

  • @WCHIFI which sub would best fit a 5.5m x 4.5m living room in an open floor plan with kitchen and dining are right next to it?

i currently have the svs ultra towers and centre as well

    • Hi @InfamousCalf I would say at minimum 1 x 12" Sub !!! If you are more movie orientated go the PB version which is ported, if you are more music orientated go the SB version which is sealed.

For the PB version either the PB2000 Pro or the PB3000

For SB version certainly look at the SB3000 - https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/shop/speakers/speakers-subw…

  • Hi @WCHIFI,

Can you confirm the dimensions of the PB-3000 are correct? https://www.svsound.com/products/pb-3000 shows it as being significantly larger:

    Dimensions (w/ grille): 21.9” (557mm) H X 18.3” (465mm) W X 26” (660mm) D
    Dimensions (without grille): 21.9” (557mm) H X 18.3” (465mm) W X 23.5” (596mm) D

    • Hi @roadeh see below:

      Dimensions (w/ grille): 21.9” (557mm) H X 18.3” (465mm) W X 26” (660mm) D
      Dimensions (without grille): 21.9” (557mm) H X 18.3” (465mm) W X 23.5” (596mm) D

      Also weight is 37kgs

      • Thanks, but the specs section of your page incorrectly shows:

        Dimensions (w/ grille): 15.6” (397mm) H X 15.2” (385mm) W X 17.8” (451mm) D
        Dimensions (without grille): 15.6” (397mm) H X 15.2” (385mm) W X 15.7” (399mm) D

@WCHIFI: I ordered the SVS PB-3000 from you two years ago and it was bigger and heavier than expected when it arrived. Thankfully I had enough room for it. I emailed pointing out the webpage showed the specs for the SB-3000. Conor Roche wrote back to me and said that he would alter this immediately on the site. So, nothing was done though?

  • OMG! only if I had space where to put this one where I live. I've been eye balling this one for 2 years already….. I've seen this in action way too many times. No chance anyone can go wrong with this sub.

    • Absolute cracker of a sub !!!

    Hi @WCHIFI.
Do you have any budget/mid ranged packages going for Black Friday? I'm looking to kit out my modest 4m x 4m theatre room.

    • Hi @Pedsy value for money one of the best packages we have is the Yamaha YHT-6A. That is 7.2 or 5.1.2 however you want to look at it and customers love it. What sort of price range are you thinking ?

      https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/shop/home-theatre-packages/…

      • The Impress package looks good. Some thing like that a little cheaper would be perfect.
I'm not sure what the minimum throw distance needs to be to achieve 110" though. 3.5m too close?

Edit: I checked out the Epson simulator and it looks like you can go as close as 3245mm to get 110" which is good to know!

        • Impress pack is our most popular for theatres here ! If you factor the Yamaha pack above with projector and screen you would be under the impress pack pricing.

That throw distance varies depending on projector choice. The TW9400 for instance is minimum 3300mm for 110" screen so just bare that in mind.

    • I'm also looking for a 7.2 system for my 4.5 x 4.3 theatre room. Package deal which have in-wall speakers would be good. I'm fairy limited yet in my knowledge of these systems (and yet to read up more), so if you have packages that include the lot, I would be very keen. Thanks.

Hey @Austin 316 best to send me an email and I can work through some options for you - [email protected]

        • Thank you. I will send you an email shortly.

  • +2

Please don't share this with my upstairs neighbour

  • From my research, PB-3000 is the king with it's size and port design if you can fit it

If size is an issue or in room, the 3000 Micro is a good compromise. I have one under my computer desk and generally not playing anything too loud, so bigger would be wasted.

  • Great price. I think this is the best 'value to performance' sub in the SVS line. Loads of midbass and lowend. Two of these would be beastly.

  • Already have the PB-1000 Pro. Finding it hard to justify replacing it with the PB-3000. Still upvoted the deal though.

    • Me too, the PB-1000 pro is a beast no doubt.

Just ordered the PB-3000 - FWIW TCB offers 4% for WC-Hifi, which tracked almost instantly at $101.96 for me

  • That McIntosh 4 x 13" subs is insane! Does it cause earthquakes? haha

    • +1

@casho hahaha !!!! That was an insane system configured by our McIntosh guru Scott !

He is back there in a month to do some further upgrades and get more content. Stay tuned to see that :)

  • Temped for PC speaker sub upgrade…

  • +1

I have PB 2000 pro and great for both hifi and movies. Highly recommended!

  • Current system old but good. Use both music and movies.
    Integra DTR 70.4 AC Receiver
    Sonique 5.5 front speakers
    Sonique front centre SAV C1
Sonique Thunderbox 1200 with 12 inch woofer frequency response 27 hz internal amplification 128 watts,130hz 1st order butterworth line output, weight 22kg. I have not previously considered upgrading the sub due to concerns with different brand compatibility and a lack of knowledge re potential for a much better experience than currently be enjoyed.Any opinion or ideas greatly appreciated.

    • mix and matching is fine, especially when your amp has Audyssey

    • @worldwidecars there is no issues with mixing and matching speakers and subwoofers. Subwoofers are active therefore speakers are not a major variable unless they are entry level.

An easy start would be that sealed is more music focused as it is more accurate whereby ported is more movie orientated

  • I've had an SB-2000 for many years, have always wanted to pair it with another. Is the SB-2000 Classic the same model as the models before the Pro? I've had trouble finding out.

    • Yes the SB-2000 is the model prior to when they changed to the pro.

  • Have heard great things about these subs. I'm in a new house now and wouldn't mind upgrading my sound.

My living room is pretty big space. 7mx7m - 3.4m high ceiling, stacker doors open the room up to the back padio.

I would probably play a fair bit of music through it as well. Keep reading that the non ported sub has a better response for music??

All a bit confusing, some one help :D

  • Thanks op. Bought two

  • Rep, I have an older B&W ASW600 (10") in a living room 6x7m. It goes ok with the 603 S3 floorstanding speakers, but I've recently been interested in SVS 12" subs.

I run it with a Denon SR, so I don't really see the need for the "Pro" versions, as I'd be leaning the tuning to the built-in Audyssey, but what would you recommend out of the SB1000/2000 or PB series?

  • Already have two PB-1000 classics in a dual setup…. I don't need the PB-2000 Pro do I…….

  • Can you mix this with a SB12-NSD? Is it a good idea?

    • I wouldn’t mix ported and sealed subwoofers ! If you were to add onto the SB12-NSD I would look at the SB range !

  • @WCHIFI Any deal on the SB-1000 Pro?

    • No major discounts on this model however happy to look after you if you reach out via our webchat :)
