  • Why would a washing machine need Bluetooth?

    • +2

Ideally, you get a notification on your phone when the wash is finished. In reality, unless you're in the same room as the washing machine, the bluetooth signal isn't strong enough, and the only way to reconnect to the washing machine is to turn it off and on again with the special button combo to re-enable bluetooth.
      It sucks.

I think I'll just stick to the old fashioned way and wait for the absence of noise to tell me it's done.

        • This beko is actually pretty quiet, unless it's unbalanced. I can't hear it through 2 doors, which is why remote notifications would be great - if they worked.

          • @damion: I have not used Beko before. How is your experience so far with this machine/brand? Any thoughts, plz share. I see mostly positive feedback for this model, only cons I could find were, long wash cycles, spin leaves clothes wet (wetter than expected or compared to other brands) and its comparably less gentle on clothes e.g. more lint accumulates in the filter.

            • @settler: Get the LG series 5 if you've got a price point of $700.

I looked at Beko as i've got the dishwasher but went with LG because its quiet, plays a tune when washing is finished and the cycles time is based on how much clothes you stuff into the drum.

            • @settler: A family friend has one for abt 5 years, the last one carked it at 3 years and was replaced by beko. The 5 year warranty is usefull. Definitely have 2 wait for service person specially in regional area.
A lot of people find it difficult to sort spin speed and duration of wash.

            • @settler: Yup. Definitely leaves clothes wetter than my old LG. It doesn’t seem to be able to redistribute the load to solve off-balance issues like the LG could either.
And as below, with anything less than a full load, it easily goes off balance at high spin speeds
The programmes, are actually pretty good though, double-rinse for removing pet hair, steam and extended rotations for preventing wrinkles etc.
probably wouldn’t buy one again, but it’s not bad enough to sell and upgrade

          • @damion: Depends on the floor, if you have a bit tilted tile floor, it scream like crazy also…

If you spin at 1400 with over half load, you can see and smell the smoke when done, special feature.

Would only spin at 1200 or below, so technically the 1400 is useless on a bit tilted floor.

            • @dlovep: thanks all for the feedback! I'll skip this one, hopefully black Friday deals will bring up something better :)

    • Optional to use, I think a few ppl have IOT and use apps etc.
The next model up is wifi, but not sure of security protocols so did not get that.

    • It's a stupid feature to be honest, you MUST select the program every time and you need to prep everything, might as well just press the button.

Nearly forget to mention, the program time show on the display never match actual time, it show 28 minutes but clocked at 56 minutes, so it's a far off product.

      • Yup. I’ve sat in front of mine for nearly 10 minutes while it happily displayed 1 minute left.

        • OMG, was that during spin cycle??
