Hey Guys, looking for a good deal on a lithium phosphate battery to use as a battery backup for my reef tank. This popped up and it seems like a great deal for a battery that has bluetooth and a 5 year warranty. Just purchased one, finger's crossed it gets delivered fairly quickly. Now I just need to find a charger for it.

Yeah I didn't want to take the chance on one of these. Prefer to have something with a decent warranty attached to it.
They are the two I returned. Fully charged they were half a volt different. A nightmare to return for a full refund. It took ebay to step in. They'll get my first bad feedback in 940 purchases.
People who had their $59 Kings 100Ah slimline Lithium battery orders cancelled earlier today, would feel too salty to buy these at $299 now ;p
I think these should be much better quality than the kings batteries at least
Yeah 4wdpoopacenta pissed a lot of people off this morning, would be even saltier to get these as an alternative and have them turn out to be terrible quality.
This was exactly what went through my mind lol
Hmmm was waiting for a voltx 100 ah deal but this looks like a good find. Hopefully better than the two I bought in the last ebay deal. Getting a full refund was a nightmare.
I was also looking at the volt x batteries, these seem like a higher quality battery from the listed specs. Plus it is nice to have Bluetooth to check state of charge and input/output
And only $10 dearer than the last $289 Voltx deal too. I have a victron smart shunt ready to install so the BT feature doesn't excite me but it may mean a higher quality bms.
Yeah im not sure, I just ordered a Victron 12v/10 charger. I did try an call Ecowatt and someone called me back in about 10 minutes. Spoke to someone local at least said they are selling cheap for Black Friday to try and get some units out there for feedback.
For reference, here's a similar mini-style 100AH battery with claimed A-grade EVE cells: $274
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/365076434714Here's a Will Prowse review of the fullsize 100AH Wattcycle, they seem like a reasonable cheapish brand:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDkJ7Sq21QwThese definitely look solid and similarly priced, one thing I like about the above brand is that they are locally owned here in Brisbane. So hopefully any required support will be easy to get.
I agree but you also need to be mindful Ecowatt has only existed for 1-year and they're a Shopify store that doesn't seem to have a physical address, so there's a good chance they wont be around for the 5-year life of the warranty…
Yes I did think of that, fingers crossed these guys hang around long term.
Rather than having no idea about them i just rang and had a chat. Spoke to a bloke named Mark. He allayed my fear of buying two and having them charge to different voltages. Said he would happily pay postage to send one back if I wasnt happy with it. Seemed like a genuinely decent person for what it's worth
Mine was already posted today. The guy I spoke to yesterday actually sent me a picture saying that it is awaiting collection this morning. Pretty solid service if you ask me ☺️
Flickit, thank you so much for spotting this. It deserves a deal posting of its own, frankly. I just bought one, I have been planning to make my own battery with basically similar specs ie EVE cells etc, the only thing that would have been different is this one doesn't have bluetooth on the BMS. Besides Mr Prowse's teardown, there's another here, that shows you can even get inside without destroying the box. https://youtu.be/HQgNhsCIy_Y?feature=shared
I may still eventually make my own larger one with 280Ah or 304Ah but this mob have done such a great (and rare) job of packing the parts into a small case with a sturdy metal frame that I have to admit I couldn't have done it as well myself, and DIY would take a couple of months in sea freight and only have saved about $30 over this price by my reckoning. Most similar prismatic cell batteries aren't so compact because they use large battery boxes with huge slabs of foam to fill the gaps.
Edit: for clarity, I'm talking about the wattcycle battery Flickit linked to, rather than OP's (also very nice) original deal
I've definitely seen cheaper batteries, but having bluetooth is a big win, don't need to incorporate a shunt and battery monitor in your system
Agree, if you don't have a shunt then bluetooth is super useful
A dumb question perhaps, but is there a meaningful difference between 12v and 12.8v? Looking at this for my kayak trolling
No it's just simplified terminology
thanks, much appreciated
A bit on the expensive side….. Should've gone with this eBay one and if you have eBay Plus, comes in cheaper. Doesn't have Bluetooth BMS, but not a bit requirement for most. This recent deal has a lot of discussion about charges, boxes, experience etc
