Been meaning to switch out of hong kong owned alinta, and into aussie owned kleenheat… this will do it

  • +1

Thanks for this. Just called and renewed with Alinta at 40% and $50 credit. Saved me the drama of switching. I need to find out more about Kleenheat. Are they any good or do they muck you around?

    • +1

Have used them before and no issues. Billing is laid out more simply than AGL's.

    • +1

Just called alinta and was offered their fairgo 40 offer for 12m and $50 credit. Thanks for the tip!

  • +4

I am fairly sure this still works out (at least for me in WA) to be more expensive than both AGL and Origin as they both offer discounts of % off in usage AND supply. Even with a lower % off, it works out better

    • +5

Yeah Origin for is 29c a day for me using 1 unit and I got $50 for sign up too, then points for Woolies EDR ongoing.

I just hopped off AGL when they couldn't renew the 40% or whatever.

Always remember to use a copy of the comparison spreadsheet before changing (just need to update the figures in there from the providers)

        Isnt Origin GO cheapest

        • Looks like the plans changed today so I stand corrected moving forward,

I signed up a few weeks ago at
          Old EDR Plan:
          First 12 @ 11.889c
          Remaining @ 10.729c
          Supply @ 17.229c
          My Usage = 29.118c - 41.009c
          (Inc 2000 EDR)

          Vs the new plans:

          New Go:
          First 12 @ 8.62c
          Remaining @ 7.78c
          Supply @ 24.97c
          My Usage = 33.59c - 42.21c

          New EDR:
          First 12 @ 9.31c
          Remaining @ 8.40c
          Daily @ 24.97c
          My Usage = 34.28c - 43.59c
          (Inc 5000 EDR)

        • Cheers mate, just logged in and changed my plan to the new Go Variable.
Sucks that they introduce the new rates but don't change existing customers to them, instead you have to log in and change it yourself…

      • Do the same thing re spreadsheet, and also left AGL recently for Origin, referral + 31% off usage and supply offer + EDR points as you said

        • Just received a 10k EDR offer for Origin. How do you get the % off discounts? Don't think I've seen them before.

          • @woozie3: I think it is still better to do the referal cause is it $50 origin credit plus whatever offer you get from the website

            • @DH: I thought @motherdough got both the referral and further discounts off the rates.

              • @woozie3: I had that 10k offer, but when I was comparing to switch, origin had the up sized $150 referral promo so I used that. One of plan options was just 31% off gas and usage so I chose that.
No EDR option at that time so I won't get the 10k points. Once activated I switched to the everyday rewards pricing as it was cheaper, yet to get first bill so will see what happens

  • Thanks OP… Looks like cannot be done online..have to call

On the screen where you choose which plan, scroll down and enter the code in the promo field.
(Do not click on RAC member after that. Flybuys is OK)

N.B.: AGL is going down to 35% discount (usage and supply) in December.

For my usage (500 units per months), a 45% off usage is a very slightly better discount than my current 41% off usage and supply, and a fair chunk better than the upcoming 35%.

    • +1

where did you see the discount dropped to 35%? I haven't received any email about the discount drop

      • Your current Set And Forget plan is ending on 2 December 2024 and your new Savers plan will start the next day. Your plan benefits will be changing at the same time.

If I had to guess, your contract is probably not due to end until next year.

        • My AGL said the same 6 months but for some reason has continued on the 45% discount

    • Right comes to around 165c vs 168c per day

    • Yep, that's why I went to the Origin plan cause they couldn't match

  • Thanks OP, I tried contacting AGL to match the offer but they wouldn't budge…

    • Good to know

  • I just received this email:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PROPOSED SALE OF WESCEF LPG BUSINESS

We are writing to inform you that Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers (WesCEF) has agreed to sell its Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution business to Supagas. Final approval of the sale is currently subject to a range of consents and approvals, including from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Excluded from the sale is Kleenheat’s natural gas retailing business, electricity business and its LPG and LNG production facility in Kwinana, which will all remain part of WesCEF.

We are aware that this announcement may cause some uncertainty about the impact of the proposed sale on your account with Kleenheat. We want to assure you that in the immediate term, very little will change for day-to-day operations. The final approval of the transaction is expected to be completed in early December, and there are several steps that need to be taken before the transaction is confirmed.

We are working closely with Supagas to ensure a smooth and seamless transition, and we will inform you once the sale has been approved and provide you with the next steps. We would like to assure you that the Kleenheat team remain committed to providing the same service you have trusted us for many years, and safety will remain our top priority throughout this process.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Kleenheat on 13 21 80 or online via our website at www.kleenheat.com.au/contact.

    Kind regards

    Dean Bentley
    LPG Sales Manager

Excluded from the sale is Kleenheat’s natural gas retailing business

  • Thanks OP, currently with Kleenheat with 35% discount, managed to get 45% discount, no $50 credit though

    • How'd you do that as an existing Kleenheat customer? Typing it into the rewards promo field doesn't work for me.

      • +1

Messaged them throug chat and ask for 45 % discount , No questions asked

        • Was that an online chat? or Facebook? Can't seem to find an instant messenger type chat - only a contact us form on the web. Cheers :)

  • Which one is the cheapest provider for Gas and Electricity in WA? I'm moving house.

    • Electricity you have no choice and the gas is really dependent on your usage patterns, some work out cheaper for no recording fee and low usage and others work out as cheaper for having a higher recording fee but lower per unit pricing or cashbacks etc. There is a excel spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GEpKMbXfxKvdncFeKHXh… - save a copy to your desktop to edit) where you can chuck in your average per day usage and find out what is likely better for you! Note: You may have to just double check the Indvidual websites cause I think Origin is different price now.
