Hey Guys, first post - BE GENTLE! Seems like a great price that matches a deal from 2 days ago from JB HIFI! Believe it can also be price matched at Officeworks for a further discount (Mod Edit: Officeworks already matched the price).

    Nice find though!

  • Great price, cheaper than AOC.

  • $1649
    https://www.apple.com/au-edu/shop/buy-mac/macbook-air/13-inc…

for the 256gb version so $100 for double didk is good

    • +1

Listing is 16GB, 512GB. Your link for 1649 is 16gb 256GB. Storage bump probably worth it.

    • +27

I agree, double didk is good

      • -4

it is certainly is from apple but you still have to bring your own lube

  • Can't price match at OW, since it's the same price now

    • Ah right! Will update the description, thanks

  • +3

    Clearing stock for M4..

    • +11

Unlikely. M3 Air was released 8 months ago and an M4 Air isn’t expected until Autumn 2025. It was the MacBook Pro that was just updated with M4.

      • It says priced to clear in OW. @bobz79 has a point

        • +9

No, the MacBook Air says “New” at Officeworks. The only items “Reduced to clear” are the 8GB RAM specs. 16GB became the new base for all models in last week’s Apple announcements (ostensibly to give more headroom for Apple Intelligence). As a midcycle bump it’s fairly unprecedented.

          • +1

            @akerr: oh, yeah. you're right.

  • I want to buy MBA, should I buy it right now or wait for Black friday?

    • +9

this is a good deal. 25% off is rare for apple. Good RAM, good SSD size, good processor, good battery life. do it.

    • Depends on the spec. This is a good deal but I’m looking for the base spec and waiting on an Apple sale with bonus gift cards (previously $240), having already bought $1500 in gift cards with the bonus Flybuys. Matching through AOC effectively gives $1583 - $150 - $240 = $1193

      • Who's going to match AOC though?

        • Apple. Like I wrote, I’m waiting on an Apple sale and using Apple gift cards/store credit. I have previously done this to receive the bonus gift cards on education pricing.

          • @akerr: do education go on sale?

          • +4

@akerr: You realise AOC don’t do the bonus GCs/AirPods offers. Full retail or Edu only.

          • @akerr: Do you mean you have asked apple regular store to price match AOC store?

          • @akerr: The post you linked to below from last year says education pricing doesn't receive the gift card.

Purchases made on a Corporate Employee Purchase Program or with education or business loyalty pricing do not qualify.

            • @puffinfresh: Yes, which it why I asked them to match it. Worked last time.

      • considering AOC will match the price for you, whats $150 saving ?

        • $150 is Flybuys
          $240 is bonus gift cards
I wrote ‘effectively’ because I will use the Flybuys on groceries and Apple Store credit on an iCloud subscription anyway. 33% off is pretty good.

  • Damn missed the OW price match.

Wonder if this is worth upgrading from an M1 Air and/or 14" M1 Pro…

    • +2

wait for M4 Q1-Q2 next year. that would be a noticeable jump

    • +4

Imo not worth it. I upgraded my m1 air to an upped m2 15” 16gb and 512gb. I don’t noticed much difference in performance. I only upgraded as my youngest will go to uni so she took my m1 (which she smashed the screen after a few months). Recently got it replaced from an amazing computer shop in Peakhurst and she payed $400 for that. Hard lesson to learn not to walk around the house holding an open laptop.
That’s another story but I loved the m1. Large m2 is amazing too with bigger screen and double memory

      • +2

it depends on the jump in generation. For Apple silicon so far it's been like this:
m1->m2 same node but further refined
        m2->m3 new node
m3->m4 same node but further refined

Jumping to the same node won't show much of a difference but from m1 to m4 would see a noticeable difference. Then again, the m1 would still be plenty fast enough for the vast majority of people for a good time yet.

        • so not worth paying the premium for m4 over m3, what if you want AI support

    • -1

U can still pricebeat at OW with the digidirect price

  • -1

Got Price beat at OW yesterday came to $1704.30

  • this a good buy for kid starting yr7 next year? Or wait for back to school in Jan. Not sure if I should pay extra for the M3 over M2

    • Did exactly this with the ow price beat yesterday for my next years yr7. The m3 ended up similarly priced to the what I was going to spend on the m2
The 16gb ram will just allow a little more “longevity” too

      • Do get applecare+ for accidental damages.

    • If your kid is careful, yes. And get min 16gb. Im on the same boat but not brave enough

  • +3

    too much ram

  • Is this 8 or 10 core? Sorry if this is obvious. Going from the listing it says both, but this would be my first Apple product so don't know if I'm missing something obvious.

  • Do you feel the screen size is too small? I have a non-apole laptop with 14 inch screen. I always feel the screen is too small to read all contents.

    • Turn up your scaling

      • I tried several methods on my 14 inch laptop. The font is either too small or the scale is too big.

    • The issue with bigger laptops is that they're not as portable. All depends on your use case, but having used a 13' for a long time, its ok for most things

  • Only 16gb ram? /s

  • What’s the popular colour among oz bargainers

    • +3

      Orange.

      • Orange is the new black

  • +1

    Midnight Black

  • What's the usual price?

Lots more questions than answers, in the comments here.

    • $2099 listed at Apple, so a pretty big discount given an Apple product.

  • Thanks :)

  • I’ve seen the claimed RRP at Harvey Norman & JB at $2399.

  • Still available at JB-Hi-Fi for this price.

    • Not anymore

      • Your right, they must change their deals over on wed/thurs,
but you might be able to price match at JB &OW if you didn’t want to buy from Amazon for some reason.

  • Midnight still available

  • Just bought one in midnight. Says 3 left in stock

  • I bought the 2nd last one. Left one colour Midnight in stock
