is it me or catch has been really slow despite being on optus. coles is with optus but its still much faster and more reliable

    • It be so

    • Only 4g maybe why?

      • Because that's all that's on offer , maybe !

    • +3

Yes, this is my experience. I've been with Boost for 3 years but switched to Catch recently and it's not just slow, but unreliable. it will straight up stop working, and I have to turn off Mobile Data and back on again

    • +2

I haven't noticed any performance issues personally.

    • Since Telstra switched off 3G in my area, everytime there is clouds my internet just doesn't work on my phone…

  • New services only

As usual no juice for existing customers from catch connect.

    • Just port out for a month & back.

      • Can't really do that if you are already on a yearly plan can we?

        • +5

I assumed people looking at this deal must be coming to the end of their plan.

Sorry for not thinking about every possible situation.

          • +2

@WatchNerd: That would be me - my Kogan Mobile 365 plan is ending in 24 days and I am seriously considering this deal.

  • I live in remote VIC. Keen to try it out but if reception is poor I wonder if they have a refund policy?

    • +1

I would get a one month one to be safe.

  • VoWifi and VoLTE supported? will i be able to receive sms/calls if traveling overseas on wifi?

    • vowifi and volte yes. i think you'd need a roaming pack to receive calls, we received sms with no issues overseas.

edit: roaming credit can be bought in the app

    • +1

only can receive SMS when overseas. you will need roaming pack if you went to receive calls or send SMS

      • +1

i remember being able to receive calls with Boost prepaid while overseas. Maybe it just depends on the network

        • +1

Yes, Telstra based services has VoWiFi can receive and make calls. Optus based services only works in Australia.

  • I believe no eSIM? Wild. Or am I thinking of Aldi?

  • +1

What is the 'activate by' date?

    • This is the million dollar question. Can we buy and hold off for 6 months. Just keep churning.

    • +1
    • From the deal page: Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.

    • +2

I called the helpdesk to cancel my order thinking I need to activate within 30 days. The rep advised me that activation within 30 days only apply to SIMs with bonus data. This one does not have bonus data so OK to activate within 24 months. I have kept the order. I hope the rep knows what he's talking about.

      • +2

        Yes that is correct.

  • Not sure if you can use the Westpac Wednesday upsized Shopback cashback for this (15%, max $20)

    • +1
      • Cashback is not applicable for Catch Connect purchases, Apple and Dyson products
      • While the catch.com.au suggests these conditions, the westpac bonus only suggest shop at catch.com.au. So maybe a grey area

  • Worth switching over from Kogan? My current plans end in like 20 days and I don’t want to continue with Kogan anymore due to poor reliability of service connections

    • Same.. i am switching…

  • Cashrewards app is not showing catch.com.au anymore. only catch connect is available and the price there is 300

      • +1

"Cashback is ineligible for purchases of Catch Connect services" by the way

  • -1

    Overseas call include?

  • Thanks OP.
Right on time as my Kogan plan is expiring and travelling overseas soon. Checked with online chat rep, no need to purchase roaming pack to receive SMS while overseas.

  • +1

+4% cashback on catch giftcards @ Cashrewards (can do custom amount for exactly $165)

  • I get the words Object Object when using the coupon code :(

  • Base on my recent travel experience, my catch mobile had very poor connection when roaming in China. It only connected to 3g network and most place I visited did not have coverage. Most of the time my sim did not connect to any network and it's useless. btw I had another sim from amaysim which also runs on optus network and it could connect to 4g network in China with no problem.

    • Did the incoming SMS work (without paying for roaming) when you travelled aboad? They are critical for OTPs and voicemail notifications.

      • If your sim can connect to 3g network then SMS works (without a roaming pack). However, during my travel most place did not have 3g coverage so my sim could not connect to any network (no SMS service).

  • Is this the cheapest ever for Catch?? 365-Day Prepaid Mobile Plan 360GB $165?

Also does any1 know if the Kogan Voda-Optus deal will be better coverage and speed than just Optus?

  • Hmmm bought the previous $180 deal in Oct, can that be returned and refunded? Or is it considered a 'phone recharge' and not eligible for refund as per the T&C

  • +2

Thanks OP. With a 6% Catch Gift card, got this for $155.10 (~ $13/month) for a plan with Amaysim that comes up for renewal in the first week of Dec. I currently don't find any other deal with similar pricing.

  • Good deal. Thanks OP. I sometimes use free international calling (UK, US, Canada, India, Singapore, etc) when Whatsapp calling isn't very effective or not an option. It's probably only a few times a year, but I do. I know Boost and Amaysim offer free calling to 25 or so countries and hence I usually use them but currently this Catch deal seems much better. Is is possible with Catch Connect to pay a bit extra and get that feature on this plan?

    • Check their website usually (not all) there is option to buy daily weekly overseas call pack or whatever they call it.

  • Is mobile port option available with this plan?

    • +1

You can port in from another carrier, yes.

  • +1

Anyone knows how long it takes to receive the sim card?
My current plan is expiring in one week.
    In Sydney.

  • Missed the deal…. Should have checked this earlier

  • +1

Bought one sim from the last $109 for 12/12 deal. After 15 days, and no sim I emailed support and they said this didn't meet their expectations and made an immediate refund. Order still says awaiting dispatch.

  • +2

Ordered a sim on 27/10, still nowhere to be seen on 13/11. Was promised 3-8 biz days.

    • Same. Still waiting.

  • +1

I got my SIM card last week even though the status in the app is still listed as awaiting dispatch. I activated the service yesterday but as of now the status is still listed as pending. Does anyone have experience how long it takes catch connect service to be active?
