EGO LM2136E-SP-2 Mower with 2x 10Ah Batteries & Bonus 5Ah Battery via Redemption $1599 (Pickup) @ TradeTools

40

Normally $1899. I just pulled the trigger. Local store didn't have stock so couldn't order online for pickup, but just contacted the store via email and had them quote me for the same price. Pickup in roughly 10 days. Should get the invoice today or tomorrow to claim the battery redemption.

Planning to sell one of the 10Ah battery (~$450 resale) and the bonus 5Ah battery (~$300 resale) which should net me the mower, 1x 10Ah battery and rapid charger for under $900. Works out cheaper than any comparable petrol mower.

    • Battery promotion is much better in my opinion.

Welcome to the Ego family, you won't look back

    • Its hard not to look back in anger.

I wish i never had an ego to follow.

    • All my ego batteries failed within 3 years but they got replaced no problem.

      • ACL is your friend for sure.
        I have 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 batteries.
Only the 5.0 failed around 2 years mark and was replaced hassle free. The rest are all going fine and hold charge seemingly as well as new.

  • Ego stuff is excellent - I've had my mower for ~8 years now. So nice not having to service, cheap to run and you're not running around in a cloud of toxic fumes.

    • Electric mowers are great. I've had my $300 Ryobi about 8 years too, give the blades a quick sharpen once a year and still haven't needed a new battery.

    • The only -ve I have about my EGO mower is that it does not cut as low as my previous Honda.

    • It cuts like shit. Had my 2 smoker for 25 years. Pulled it out from under the trees on the weekend, started first gi and still cuts better than the EGO and it has tin cans for blades.

      • Totally agree. I have 2 ego mowers. The newsest a self drive with selct cut. Recovering from a broken leg i needed a self drive. The cut on both is horrible. The height settings are stupid. Long -longer and paddock.
It cuts so ragged that 3 days later the lawn looks like it needs a mow again. I get 5 days minimum out of my other mowers. Putting a bag of sand on the mower helps. And yes I too got out the 4 bladed 2 strike Victa on the weekend. I have no idea why it cuts so well. The egos could be really good with just a few changes for the aussie market. .

  • Ahh, that's right. Gotta bust out my forklift!

I'd been all in on getting into the Ego ecosystem until I followed several deals on here and heard peoples experiences. tl;dr - the failure rate of batteries JUST OUTSIDE of warranty is ludicrously high and they have zero interest in being of assistance. YMMV

    • +2

that was my experience, to have 2x $450 batteries die 2 months after warranty is a joke

  • +2

I think you’ll struggle to offload the gear with the amount of seconds gear online and the cheap asses out there. Also with the battery issues it may pay to keep the extras.
Good kit though. Ashame you missed the ToolsWarehouse for 1100

Seem to be a regular number of them being sold on eBay "as new" for around 80% of their retail price. I reckon my odds are good. Even if I get 70% of retail price I'd probably be happy,

These things (cordless electric garden tools) are so overpriced. Maybe when lithium batteries cost a lot more, but now they're cheap, there's no reason for these high prices. They should be more like half that much.

    • I've got the full 58V AEG kit with redemption offers.

      From 6 batteries.

1 died due to broke contractors
1 died doesn't charge past 2 bars and dies using the battery after 5 seconds.
1 fell off a shelf and broke the casing, cannot charge.

Yet 6 years later i'm supposed to pay $300 for a 4ah replacement battery?

I'm gonna hold off and wait to see what happens in the battery electric garden tools space is gonna do, battery prices are a joke and I don't know what the next move is, I got value at the time but I could change to another brand/technology the way they insult us with battery "offers".

      • I have 6 18V Ryobi batteries, of varying sizes, most of which are nearly 10 years old, and I've never had a single issue with any of them.
All of them just keep on trucking 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Aftermarket batteries?

  • Ahhh so sad missed the 1100 deal before. Using my 8 year old ryobi. Still going strong. Can't justify upgrading for this price.

  • Ego is so far ahead of the competition, no comparison against Ryobi or AEG etc entry tier…

    • The only -ve I have about my EGO mower is that it does not cut as low as my previous Honda.

      • Yeah cutting height is the only thing I may miss, say if intentionally scalping the lawn, but I reckon there's be a way around if desperate enough. Smaller wheels, lowering blade, modifying the lowering mechanism, etc. I mow at around 1.5 inches at the moment. New mower goes to 1 inch, so should be low enough for my everyday needs at least.

      • You can solve that with washers. I have. Now cuts to the same height of the petrol mower it replaced. And the best part, is undetectable for warranty.

        • You can solve that with washers.

How do you know that it won't compromise safety ?

          • @jv: I didn't say it didn't?

I simply said it doesn't impact warranty.

There are also online stores selling machined options as well to soften concerns. But regardless, we all have free will to choose our own willingness to do things.

Planning to sell one of the 10Ah battery (~$450 resale) and the bonus 5Ah battery

If you're planning on getting any other EGO products, it's always good to have an extra battery….

I've got the mower, line trimmer, blower and two batteries… Would be really useful to have a 3rd battery….

    • I've already got an old 2.5Ah and new 5Ah for two Ego whipper snippers. One's their lowest end model which I got on Facebook marketplace for a steal many years ago, and the other is their new commercial STX5000 which I've so far only used for brushcutting with the blade on.

  • How about Milwaukee lawnmower in comparison to EGO?
