So you would need to use this subscription for like 12 months to break even.
Thats if they don’t put the price up before then either.
Not much sport to watch with kayo atm too.

    • Kayo has been very selective in its content, not much for cricket audience

      • +4

Yeah, prime gets icc games, and others are on YouTube, might dump Kayo next year

        • any ways to watch the current Aus/Pak ODI series? I dont want to sign back up to Kayo but cant find any easy alternatives atm.

      • +1

Kayo has dropped off big time. For tennis fans bein sports forking off to it's own service has made it pretty lacklustre.

        • yep, agreed. I might still be a Foxtel customer if they still had Bein Sports (and Cbeebies for the kid)

  • +25

We really have come full circle with paid subscription TV

    • +6

Yeah. Complete with ads. Paying for ads = killer for me.

And this is owned by Murdoch.

      • +4

Self-goal: using up own download quota to serve yourself ads.

    • +1

I think it’s really targeting people who sub to multiple (like 3 or more) subs on yearly sub tier.

weird thing is last time I subbed to binge for a month, the prices for all other subs was more expensive than subbing to them directly.

so what’s the point in bunching all these subs under one payment for “bonus sub credit”? (pretty sure it was credit not a cheaper price)

so Disney plus through Hubble was like $4 or $5 more expensive per month than subbing directly. and then you have to sub to like 2 or 3 more subs to get “bonus credit”. what is so appealing about that? I don’t know.

  • +9

I haven't used Netflix in a long time, but holy crap it's expensive.

  • +3

Note this is the "Netflix with ads" tier as well.

  • +3

Between f1 and afl I don't need kayo at the moment with f1 coming to a close

I found this on Shopback- unconfirmed if you can stack the offers:

Hubbl Puck has a $50 cash back
Buy a Hubbl for $79 & claim 3 months BINGE
    Expires in 25 days
    Expiry Date 30 November 2024

Damn, this has way too much of a cable TV feel.

    Box looks awful -

Product review and Trustpilot look particularly bad:

because they are: hubbl is owned by foxtel… and we all know how foxtel been running over customers in the past

Instead of Netflix I use Stremio. Is there an equivalent for sport? Mostly cricket, F1 and AFL.

    • +1

Stremio + Kayo and I’m done.

      • Amen

      • +1

Not really. I have stremio + kayo and not done :(. Not much cricket coverage.

        • Same, still looking for a solid solution for cricket

      • Yeah, that’s what I’ve currently got. Kayo is $15/m though and I’m not sure if I get the value out of it.

    • +1

for sports, equivalent of stremio(free) would be those websites where you can find stream links. but would only work on pc/mobile.
equivalent of stremio+realdebrid (paid) would be iptv which would also work on tvs

If interested, sign up for a free Foxtel now trial then cancel and wait.
They keep sending various offers for 70% off a device with 3 months free Binge and Kayo and now a free Hubbl device.

    • I was a Fotel Now customer and never got the targeted email

      • I received a few offers after a trial with different email/phone details. They could be targetting customers based on specific responses in the survey after cancelling. (I think I selected technical issues)

  • If only it was an android device

  • Are they still flogging these Hubbl crapboxes. Also, Netflix can get fudged after ruining out Turkish holiday.

  • +1

I bit, although for the most recent 70% off a hubbl and free Binge & Kayo for 3 months. Was actually going to get Kayo for a month to watch the last F1 races of the season in 4K, so $29.70 was a cheaper way of doing that as the 'free' Kayo seems to include the $35 subscription. Suspect I'll leave the device itself in the box. I also went via shopback - never know, might get some cashback.

T'c & C's - 3 months of Kayo. Applies to Kayo One or Kayo Basic. Must apply voucher via Hubbl My Account using link or voucher code in offer. Offer must be activated by 8 De‌cember 2024. After offer period, subscription auto-renews at standard pricing (currently $25/mth for Kayo One or $35/mth for Kayo Basic), unless changed / cancelled prior. Not available in conjunction with any other offer. Offer non-transferable. One redemption per person. Not available when redeeming via, or when billed via iTunes.

    • +2

…and the $50 cashback has tracked, but won't be confirmed until Feb next year. If it does come in then I'll be $20.30 ahead plus 3 months of Kayo and Binge. Oh and a free hdmi cable. The email with the voucher links arrived today, and found that I had to sign up and then go back into the settings for the subscription to bump both up to the higher level (for zero cost).

      • +1

Well. I also got a notification I could get a free hubbl, so got an extra one. I dunno - maybe there's a slim chance they might get unlocked somehow when hubbl goes down the gurgler. Oh, for those who are interested, the device itself is actually a rebranded "Sky Stream" box (https://www.techradar.com/televisions/streaming-devices/new-…). For now though, both are back in their boxes.

  • Hubbl box has terrible reviews due to its poor throughput and resolution, would definitely avoid if you have anything better than a 720p screen.

      Works for sports yeah…

      Enuf not said!

      • +2

Hope this is a rhetorical question.

If not I guess you haven't figured out the IP add on for live tv including live sport. I have over 250 live channels. ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports Network, CBS Sports Network, beIN Sports, Sky Sports, TNT Sports, MLB etc just at the top of my head.

        Again, enuf said.

I hubbled a bit this way, and I hubbled a bit that way.

but in the end they sold me a magic box which did everything that one day got canceled and stopped working. isn't this the story of every "box" recently?

    • No. I had a gen 1 Chromecast, plugged it in recently and it worked without issue.

      • I’m talking about these random branded boxes.
        not streamers like Apple/Google TV.

        • +1

          Ahh, gotcha.

I've picked up a few freebies/cheap TV boxes but have always ended up selling them. I don't think I've even bothered setting them up - nice idea, not worth the pain.

I've found the Apple TV to be the best - snappy, no lag, no crashes, good support for files, etc. Google TV has too much advertising for my likes.

Comm Bank Yello offers Kayo for $15/month (upto 12 months)

  • What a convoluted pile of drivel.
