"Front bottom"… thinking my mental age is still 12.

  • +20

Dont think. Just buy. Will not regret it

    • This.

    • +1

Been thinking about buying for at least a year, should have just gotten it last year sub $500 and I would have been enjoying it for a whole year instead of thinking.

Nah I'm gonna keep thinking, maybe if I think a few more years I can get a 32" OLED at this price.

      • I bought 1 last year. Should've bought 2.

        • I did, been using them heavily for work and they haven’t skipped a beat.

  • +2

I purchased this monitor and it stopped working within 5 months. I initially believed it was a compatibility issue with my Mac, but further testing with Windows laptops and different cables confirmed the problem lies with the monitor itself. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to pursue a replacement

    • +2

I also had one out of two Dell G3223Ds (the 2K version of this display) die on me within 2 months of arrival. I managed to get it replaced with a brand-new unit as Dell support originally sent out a sh*tty refurb (as they like to do with warranty claims) that had horrible colour reproduction/accuracy that really stood out when it was side-by-side with the second brand-new display. It did take some back and forth and photographic/video evidence to prove to them that the refurb's colour accuracy was way off even at factory settings but if you argue enough Dell will cave to your demands in my experience.

    • +1

My first one lasted 11 months. Dell replaced it and the replacement has been going strong for 7 months.

  • +4

Got it for $500 June last year. Great monitor for both gaming and productivity.

  • +8

Been eyeing on this for awhile but since it’s a price drop rather than timed special, I’d wait for Black Friday in case it gets reduced further.

  • Thinking of replacing a 42" LG OLED with 2 of these (want to go back to a normal size montor).

Anyone rocking two of these? Are they too big?

    • +2

What's your review of using a 42" OLED as a monitor?

      • +1

Obviously quality is fantastic - but sitting approx 1m away it feels a little weird viewing content in the top and bottom corners - you almost have to move your head.

This and the fact it doesn't auto turn on/off without installing additional software on your PC is a little annoying. I occassionally get gltiches where the screen turns on for no reason during the night etc.

I have PowerToys installed so I have custom window positions set up, so I can snap them - but I prefer having actual monitors to snap to, and an ultra wide 16:9 view.

But everything else is amazing (colour, motion, contrast…)

        • "I occassionally get gltiches where the screen turns on for no reason during the night etc."

Have you tried turning off or disabling CEC Control?

    • +1

Depends on how you prefer to set them up. I had two in horizontal side by side and thought it was too wide. Currently have the second monitor flipped vertical and prefer it that way, using fancy zones to snap windows to my preference.

I used to use a LG 48 as only monitor and prefer the two monitor setup for work and extra screen real estate.

      • 2 x 42 side by side, bloody hell haha

    • +2

It depends. I have a big desk, 1.8m, so it doesn't feel too big. Also depends on use case. I work from home, often run 4 programs at same time. So visually I can see everything off 2 X 32".

Personally I prefer the large dual screen set up over single large monitor.

    • Dell U4025QW Monitor

  • Great monitor. Returned the fancy pants ultrawide 34” Alienware monitor and got this instead. Very happy with it.

    • Can I know the reason for doing so? I am actually considering between these 2 and dont have a winner yet.

      • +1

The main reason for me was that I use my monitor for work 70% of the time and gaming 30%. The ultrawide Alienware is amazing for gaming, but for work I do design and video work and the text fringing was a huge drawback, along with the glossy display and over saturated colour (can be adjusted). Having to worry about pixel refresh and burn in was also a pain. The IPS dell feels more tried and true, suits me much better for colour work, more screen real estate with 4K and scratches my itch for gaming. If you’re more a gamer and do a bit of productivity work on the side then maybe the Alienware will be the best choice. I reckon the OLED displays will get a lot better with text/fine details in future releases.

        • Thanks for the info!

Grab it now, or wait until Black Friday?

  • Anyone using this with a Macbook Pro? Do you use a dock too? Not sure I can move off one USB-C cable for everything…

    • i have it connected to M2 pro via HDMI, as a 2nd monitor.
My primary is U3421WE via usb-c/dp-passthrough, and this is where most of the peripherals are connected to.

  • Have been using this on a MacBook Pro m1. Some days it randomly scales down from 144hz to 60hz. Usually no option to revert it, have resorted to many different software solutions nothing seems to work long term

    • Same setup here, but I've not had that problem. What dock/cable do you use?

      • Initially I was using dp to a docking station. That locked it to 120hz but had no inconsistencies at least. I read that usb-c to dp allows for the full 144hz so I ended up switching to this.
        I noticed 2 things:
        1) If I close the lid it goes to 60hz
        2) after updating to the latest os randomly waking up from sleep mode will lock it to 60hz

        • Hmm ok I use USB-C -> Caldigit dock -> DP and it stays at 4K144hz no worries.
          Oh maybe 120hz actually.
But I never close my laptop

The latest MacOS actually makes the dock experience better for me, before the update my second monitor wouldn't wake up half the time from sleep

    • When you put your MacBook to sleep, and wake it up, does the monitor automatically wale up? I have been having this issue with my samsung g70b which is super annoying.

    • +2

Have you tried turning off Freesync on the monitor itself and making sure that the refresh rate in MacOS is set to 144hz (instead of Variable)?
This was causing my MacBook Pro to freeze every couple of days.

      • This fixed it, I turned off the free sync and can now again see the 144hz option. Thank you

  • +1

This is one of the best budget friendly decent 4K 144Hz gaming monitor, if your machine can run games at least on okay settings, buy it

  • +1

I am using this now, its good, but wish it was curve.

  • I think it is too high-res for my work laptop - everything is so laggy. I use it to game on normally when not working, any fixes? aside for lowering the res?

    • +1

Ask IT for better laptop, legit.

    • +1

Make sure refresh rate is set to max otherwise will feel laggy at 4k

    • Another thing is , try using a usb c to hdmi cable instead of HDMI. Worked for me,

      • Also make sure its 4k 60hz compatible not 30hz

  • This one is very good, just buy, dont think.

  • Wouldn't mind getting one of these but I would hope that its not a no dead pixel lottery as it seems some have reported having them.

Also, some other buyer reporting that nVidia Gsync compatibility issues with theirs. Anybody know that its not a marketing ploy or is yours all good?

    • Have this for nearly 2 years. 0 dead pixels and running a 3080 with no issues with gsync. . My only issue is bought in Jan 2023. @ $800, which was cheapest at the time :(

      • Thanks for sounding off on that starry! 👍

  • Does anyone know how or if it's supported to get 144 hz from macbook air m3?

    • I use one with my macbook pro m2 and I use a USB-C to DP cable and 144hz works great.

  • Hey all, thought on https://www.centrecom.com.au/lg-34bp65c-b-ultrawide-34-qhd-v… as a monitor v price. Thanks

    • +1

just get the dell one that's $429, it was posted not too long ago

  • -5

reviews are very bad on this, also still dealing with hp 3 months ongoing no replacement or refund for a faulty laptop.

    • +1

Crazy. Any feedback on the Dell monitor in the post though? Reviews are great. So is my opinion on it as I own one.

    • +2

reviews are very bad on this

The hell are you talking about?

      https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/g3223q

Rtings have it as one of the best IPS monitors available.

      • -8

did you look at the hp website.. 27% 1 star… lol

        • +4

Brother what are you on about
          This is a Dell monitor.

          • -2

            @Riceplate: typo I meant Dell

          • @Riceplate: Bsr

            Verified Buyer

            Second unit with dead pixels

            DOA faults
            many reviews on these dying

            • +5

@Rukiata: Yeah those user reviews clearly must accurately reflect the defect rate.
Australia Post have a 1.7 star rating on productreview. I guess this must mean they lose 80% of the mail they're supposed to deliver.

              • -2

@Riceplate: dont think its aus post. looked on ebay, lots of faulty ones for sale.

  • +3

will obviously be around $450 for black Friday

  • +1

Bought. Thanks OP. Used shopback with $9.93 tracked.

  • This or the Dell S3221QS for $413?

    • +3

      This

    • Get the G3223Q for IPS and DSC refreshrate

  • +1

    Early Xmas pressie sorted.

  • Are the blacks and IPS Glow terrible on this monitor?

    • +1

The Samsung > Dell, but compare prices also.

    • This link is for the US site. It's is considerably more expensive in AUD. About 3-4 times the price of the Dell.

  • Reading the reviews on the Dell site right now, it seems to have lots of DOA, dead pixels, and intense light bleed issues. I don't know, feels like a risky buy due to the poor QC.

    • I purchased one at midnight but are now worried due to reading the DOA, dead pixel and gsync flicker issue reviews also. A lot of those are from 22/23 though. Latest firmware is Mar24.

LG 32gr93 and GB M32U have their issues too and are $200-$300 more.

I don’t know, might just cancel and stick with my X34 until it dies

At the end of the day $520 aint too bad but if you have a dud unit it’s wasted money.

If I could guarantee a near perfect monitor I wouldn’t care. My expectations are high though. X34 hasn’t been great for gaming over the years, screen tearing and lag. My old 2715U Dell 60hz is great for text only

    • +1

Dell has pretty good warranty return conditions right? or am I wrong?

      • idk one of the reviews said they were sent a used unit

      • I saw 15 days return allowed from invoice date but not sure whether change of mind is a reason. Tempted to just get it delivered, test it and send it back if defective

    • I think it's a risky buy I bought one from a previous deal. Arrived and had verticle line down the middle, they wanted to replace it with a refurbished unit. I was so mad I told them I want a refund. Didn't push for a replacement for new seeing as it'll probably have issues or so judging by everyone else's feedback.

  • +1

Bought 2. If I were to use these for mostly spreadsheets and general office duties, what is the cheapest gpu needed to drive these at the 4K 144hz?

    • Most integrated can handle that. What cpu u have?

      • Older gen threadripper.

        • +1

an intel arc gpu maybe, or 4060 for a bit better performance but I think last gen aMD will handle it as well maybe 6600 probs cheapest as well

  • Do people stack a pair of them on top off each other or have 1 vertical? If the former what arm would you suggest?

  • Anyone running three of these on a sim rig?

  • +1

I've had two of these for a year+ now and just absolutely adore them.

    • How do you have them setup?

      • Running on a dual monitor arm side by side. Displayports for my PC and a USB C to HDMI splitter for my work laptop!

  • +2

One of the best 4K entry level gaming monitors. I spend $600+ bought last year so far I’m pretty happy with it.

  • Can this monitor do 3840 x 2160 at 120Hz with HDMI 2.0?

My NVIDIA RTX 2060 only has HDMI 2.0.

EDIT: I just found out the card can only do 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz with HDMI 2.0b but it doesn't matter.
    The RTX 2060 has a DP which can do up to 7680 x 4320 @ 120 Hz.

    • +1

I have a GTX1070 and it's doing 120hz over HDMI no problems. I was surprised it could do it but that's DSC for you. I mainly got my G3223Q for my RTX4070ti super but tested my GTX1070 anyway.

      • That's good info, thanks

  • i need a monitor for upcoming release of mac mini and daily office works (spreadsheet etc). should i go with this 4k uhd or oled or maybe 2k?

    • Go with the G3223Q. I have two and they are great for everything.

  • Just realised this is the Q and not the D. The D model had usb c charging and I can no longer find that model online.

Also I use monitor control that can change brightness of the monitor with the keyboard but every time I do that, it disconnects or goes black momentarily. Any solutions?

    • Does this mean it wont power my laptop and send video signal through single USB cable?

      • +1

        Correct.

I've got a usb c to HDMI cable attached for my macbook air yet it is only showing 30HZ
