MSI MPG321URX 4K 32" UHD QD-OLED 240Hz Adaptive Sync Flat Gaming Monitor $1898 + Delivery ($0 C&C) + Surcharge @ Umart

43

Thought I'd share this deal for the best monitor you can buy.

$949 in the US but us sexy little Aussies have to pay the Australia Tax, so it's $2200 here. This is by far the lowest I've seen this ~6month old product go - highest discount I've observed myself is $10 bucks off.

Still a little high for my wallet but if I had the spare cash I'd be in there faster than the Flash. Sad for myself, but at least someone here can take the deal while it's good!

Surcharges: 0% direct deposit, 0.9% card, 1% fee on all other payments.

Still wayyy to much compared to the dell atm

    • +7

Yep, and the Sammy g8 getting close to sub $1k - especially if you dont need USB-C PD, KVM etc. Though Samsung service can be rubbish from all reports

      • Yeah personally I really want the USB-C for the work lappy, but I could defo go without… I think this monitor would have to come down to somewhere sub $1500 for it to be actually open to consideration, personally. Or I'd have to win the lotto…

        • -3

Sure, pay $300-$700 more instead of getting a $30-$40 adaptor, ok, uhuh

          • @jasswolf: Not the point. USB-C from the display does charging, DP over USB-C and data. A dongle just moves all the cables currently running to a computer (charger, HDMI, and peripherals) slightly further away, at the end of a cheap piece of hardware more likely to introduce interference, unreliability or just get in the way.

USB-C from the screen is ONE CABLE. Period. A dongle is, in my opinion, not a solution we should be forced to resort to unless choosing to buy a slim laptop.

@Sam of Ham: Buy a dock, because you're not carrying this monitor around. Still hundreds of dollars cheaper.

I'm with ya, been watching this one and saw my PCPP alert - MSI pushed sale by the looks across retailers, ends within the week. Wonder if better BF price to come, and this an attempt to grab a few early sales. Will be monitoring, but thinking I should put $2k into a 50 series GPU instead to be able to even push all those pixels!

    • Good luck, 50 series might cost even more!

Yeah this screen kicks ass and ticks all boxes, just that freaking price… We'll see if BF deals cut it down even lower!

You can TECHNICALLY get it on Amazon or Newegg cheaper but they come with import taxes and duties plus exchange rates. They might start at $1600 but end up slugging you $400 or more to get the (profanity) into the country. PITA.

      • Oh I'm sure 5080 will cost more, easy. It's Jensen and nvidia, after all. I'll prob end up going the new G8 or AW, just too hard to justify the premium for the MSI, Aorus (let alone the Asus). Or stick with my current G8 34 UW for another gen!

        • Yeah the Tier 1 tax is definitely there too, on top of the price hike just for the privilege of not being in the US.

I suppose I'll also prioritise a new monitor when it comes time to NEED one… I have a decent enough old AOC that gets me by so I can't call this screen a dire need myself, just a dire want, lol.

    LG C4 better at $1200

    • +4

Not if you want 240hz and a smaller screen.

      • +2

240hz is nice, but smaller screen for 700 more is not good

        • +4

This might be 700 more but the Alienware AW3225QF can be had for a similar price on sale or for a refurbished unit + 3yr warranty.

@OzAmore: 42 is huge on the LG i must say, still getting used to it

            • @SS625: What it like to game on? and what refresh rate are you getting?

              • @Magik: gaming is weird for games like dota where you have to check mini map/gold, head needs to move a lot.

                games like FPS seems fine.

im only getting 120 with gsync on a 4060 on hdmi cable (might be limited due to the cable)

amazing screen thou, its like having iphone screen but bigger, ie all the corners are bright and sharp

                • +1

@SS625: I got a 42 C4. Reckon it's bang on for both work and play, and didn't even think it was 'huge' straight out of the box and onto my desk, and my perception of the panel has only shrunk over a month later. Just a great size. Haven't found myself turning my head at all. How close are you sitting? I sit 90cm away from mine.

You need to turn 144hz mode on in the game optimiser menu with the remote to get more than 120. Make sure you've got it set to 4:4:4 mode in the regular menu while you're at it.

                  • @BradH13: Thanks for the tips

My dear is only 80cm deep. So with the stand and some gap behind. Maybe I'm 70cm away from the screen. Looking at a monitor arm atm

                  • +1

@BradH13: I had the exact same experience as Brad.

                • +1

@SS625: 144hz mode is unlocked under the gaming mode setting on the LG TV btw

    • I ended up talking my wife into getting the 42" C4. She really didnt wanna go bigger than a 32, but it was an easy sell when the LG was about $800 less than even this price last weekend. Kinda regretting i didnt try make her swap it for my 48" CX :)

  • Too small for me, especially at this price

  • how are people getting 240hz at 4k?

Why do people want that? are people playing competitive games at 4k and want the 240hz?

    • +2

Want to see what the 5090 can do :D

    • Future proofing for 50 series? ha

    • you answered your own question

    • Personally I wouldn't run it at 240Hz. It can run cooler/under it's spec at 144Hz/175Hz and last longer while still upgrading my current 75Hz.

I do mixed gaming and productivity and the current 2K resolution is really the sweet spot. The only thing about this screen that isn't perfect for me is the 4K res; I'd happily take a cheaper model with only 144Hz/175Hz 2K if they made one.

$1900 for a gaming monitor is ridiculous, some Ozbargainers need to hand in their membership.

    • +1

First I've noticed it at this price but no, I haven't been actively refreshing a tab in my browser day and night. I have more important work to do.

It's also the first it's been posted to OzB, so clearly this isn't front page news. Post it yourself next time if you'd like to!

A bit off topic but seeking recommendations for a gaming pc for my teenage kids. Wouldn’t what to spend more than $2k as still need a monitor.

Which vendors should I keep an eye on for BF specials?

    Thanks

    • I built my own for under $2k. It plays everything at 4K 60fps (Elden Ring, Cyberpunk). Will also do 1440p at over 120fps.
First PC I've put together in 30 years, much easier than it used to be! Took me 3 hours from start to finish.
