Westmont are 100% grown and processed in Australia, they used to be available in Woolies but they wanted them to lower the price and they couldn't do it so they aren't available anymore.

Their pickles are great, easily the best quality I've had from what's available in the supermarket I use their Dill on burgers

Their store has lots more than just pickles though, worth checking out.

the dill chip pickles are elite for burgers

Need to support these businesses who are pushing back against the preditory practices of the duopoly

    • +4

      +💯….

    • +30

First support your hip pocket and then support the businesses by shelling out $9 for 500g of pickles and $15 for standard delivery!! I can understand they're under fixed cost absorption issues after losing major supermarket distribution but that is some premium pricing territory and wont be able to sell enough to survive.

      • +8

The vegan label likely adds $3 per jar. I takes to the target market which is not Colesworth customers. I can't see how pickles; which are, cucumber, water, sugar, vinegar, salts and sometimes with dill, tumeric or garlic, could be anything but vegan. When consuming make sure they are paired with low fat water with carb free ice cubes.

Ok but is it non-gmo, fair trade, gluten free or not?

that is some premium pricing territory and wont be able to sell enough to survive.

there is - and always will be - a market for premium products

there's a reason why Simon Johnson and Harris Farm are in the postcodes they're in. they don't appeal to every customer, but there's absolutely a market for it.

        • +1

Their own pickle is $6.49 at Harris Farm full price and the 2nd most expensive pickle in the shop after some japanese $11 pickle. $6.49 is was already expensive.. $9 is wow!

    • +3

I get your point and somewhat agree but keep in mind supermarkets have many businesses wanting their products stocked on their shelves so they need suppliers to commit to promotional activity to move products

    • +1

The one downvote on this comment was definitely done by Woolies :)

    • +1

      Agreed.
Countless business were crushed by Bunnings, and ran to Masters, as a 2nd chance. Had to turn their business upside-down to fit-in. SO many went to the wall, when masters went-under. And Bunnings will forever grin "That's what ya get"

    • Please tell them to make whole pickles. Never a fan of pre-sliced. Will buy it then.

  • +6

I have finally found Aussie made pickled jalapenos!

    • +1

      Too soft in my opinion
I've had better crispier picked jalapenos

      • +1

I bought a couple from stores (not this brand) and I agree. I make my own. I hate soft pickles. Pickles need to have a slight crunch.

  • +7

Their fridge packed pickles have been pretty consistently available at Cheaper Buy Miles the last few months. $3 or $4 a tub I think.

    • +1

Do you mean this company does fridge packed pickles? I couldn't find them on the site. I've been looking for fridge packed pickles in Australia forever

      • +2

Yeah but I've actually never seen them in stores only at Cheaper Buy Miles in Melbourne. I'm assuming they won't post the fridge packs, you'll have to shoot them a message to find a local retailer.

        Here's a pic of them

        • Oh wow, that's amazing. Have you tried them? Are they as good as they look?

          • +2

@Soapdroid: Yeah they're good, a lot crisper than the normal canned ones. I've been making chicken katsu burgers with some dill mayo and just an absolute ton of these pickles stacked on top, goes great.

            • @Cheaplikethebird: That sounds great. Have you got a recipe you follow? Even though it's not the star of the meal, I'm interested in the dill mayo.

A friend's ex made an amazing potato salad, with a generous amount of dill. I've not been able to recreate it. Chasing the dragon…

              • +2

@Sobieski: It's really just some mayo, chopped dill, lemon juice and salt. The trick is to make it ahead as it tastes wayyy better the day after.

    • It's been great to see them a staple at CBM. The spicy mix is superb. The standard Aussie mix is a bit ordinary; and not in a good way as the naming convention would suggest. Just my opinion though. They're a great company.

    Website is awful.
    Some links go to Instagram!!!
    Also, no PayPal.

I bought anyway, to try. Hope they are good.

    • +1

It's a Squarespace website, so they can improve it very fast. I agree, they need to add PayPal.

    • +11

one could say it leaves a sour taste in your mouth..

      • +10

They’ll find themselves in a bit of a pickle if they don’t fix it

    • -3

      Demanding PayPal in 2024. Crazy.

      • Safer, more secure and private than handing over your CC details to each random site

    Purchased. Ty

  • I've been buying Chappy's Chips to fulfil my dill pickle chip cravings, does anyone have any reviews on the pickle seasoning packs they do?

  • +7

They do the best bread and butter pickles ever. Good to see them sticking it to Colesworth.

  • +17

wow a pickle delivery service what an age we live in.

    • +2

You can order, while sitting on the toilet too.

      • You're making me hungry!

  • @ZuluOz Are you associated with this brand? If yes, i'll send you a DM.

    • +2

You can message them on instagram, I did just before and they were responsive

    • +4

      Hey @RoadZilla nope sorry.

I like their product and I like to support Australian made, they tick those boxes so I just want to spread the word.

  • +4

Aussie product getting punted from Colesworth. Way too familiar these days. Purchased to see how they go. We currently buy Ceres, they are pretty good.

  • +6

Missed the chance to say "found themselves in a bit of a pickle with Woolies" :)

  • +1

I wanted whole pickles, but they seem to be all pre-cut. Back to Aldi

  • +2

Do length and girth matter when it comes to pickles?

    • +7

Somewhat, but they're not as important as mouth feel.

    • +4

hey @cucumber - do you ever find yourself in a pickle?

      • -1

Only if his name is Brine.

  • Thanks OP, bought couple of classics packs.

  • +5

Ah rip they don't seem to have whole pickles. Hard pass for me sorry.

    • +9

I’m in the same boat. Why wouldn’t they do a classic whole pickle?

  • Got a classic pack and some hot sauce. Thanks OP.

  • +3

Where are the whole cucumbers as per the image? Only halves, chips etc

    • +3

because they sell pickles not cucumbers.

That's like a butcher having a picture of a cow and going in and asking "where's the cow"

  • +9

I did not expect to be impulse buying pickles on a Wednesday morning. But I love pickles and love supporting aussie business like this lol

  • PICKLES!!!

  • Are these sweet and sour? I like a sweet pickle!

  • +1

Holy shit those moving backgrounds on my widescreen monitor made me feel ill

  • +2

Over the Indian and Chinese pickled stuff at the supermarkets. Would definitely buy if they had larger sizes like the European pickles, 1.75kg+ which you can get for $10-15, a little exxy for what you get.

  • +3

500g PICKLE for $7.5?what cucumber they use?Golden cucumber?

    • +7

      YES

  • Westmont are 100% grown and processed in Australia, they used to be available in Woolies but they wanted them to lower the price and they couldn't do it so they aren't available anymore.

Can someone tell me where the savings are? coleworth's rrp for 500g pickles are around $4-5 where the products on their page have them for $7.50.

Been buying my pickled veg from the butcher so far (cheaper than coleworths rrp)

    • +2

Support lazy OZs cost money, you can't compare those supermarket ones to OZ made ones…

      • +1

        😘

    • +1

It's a saving on the cost of having them shipped, it's a premium product vs the imports you get in store.

    • +1

Can someone tell me where the savings are?

The deal is for free shipping, and the product you'll receive will far exceed the quality of 'home' brand pickles.

      • I used to get the Three Threes products from coleworths and thought they were good compared to home brand. (It's also aussie owned)

        • +1

Aussie owned but alas Indian Pickles

          • @ZuluOz: 🤦‍♂️

          • +1

            @ZuluOz: Check these products
            Gherkins
            Beets

Both state made from 99% aussie ingredients. If the pickles are from india or elsewhere, can they legally label it and market it as 99% aussie made? (not a troll or joke question, but a genuine concern as I check for that % label when buying certain grocery items)

  • +3

This website is horrible… why are the products MASSIVE? I can only see three at a time.

    • +2

And the video footage! Very distracting, they should be slowed down.

      • +9

        HEARD

  • -4

Man… I'm all for supporting home-grown products and innovation (Pickle seasoning sounds revolutionary, imho)— But I really don't feel keen about buying anything in a "satty" baggie- Especially when it's the same kind you see littering the disgusting floors of nightclubs.

    👍Cool product, 👎 Bunko marketing.

      Hello.

Looking for similar pricing to aldi / colesworth.

Can you do a product for say, $4-5 per 500g?

      • +11

        HEY MOVIEMAN,

OUR GHERKINS ARE ALL PICKED BY AUSSIES AND AUSSIES ARE PAID WELL. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOME PRODUCTS UNDER $6 BUT TIS JUST NOT VIABLE AT THIS STAGE SORRY. THE OVERSEAS STUFF AT THE BIG DOGS CAN HIT THOSE NUMBERS THOUGH

        • +4

Most likely picked by seasonal backpackers on working holiday visas, but top marks for spinning minimum wage into patriotism

      • +1

Looking for similar pricing to aldi / colesworth.

Then go there and get the mass imported crap from overseas.

    • +11

      Typing in CAPS is BASED.

      • +11

        WE CAN'T STOP

    • -1

Hey, just wondering why there aren't any ingredients listed for the products online? Is this something can be added? I assume it's already on the label..

    • +3

Which local shops/butchers stock your products? Store list by State would help.

    • +3

I want to start off by saying I love what you are doing with being 100% Australian made and I have bought some of your pickles in the past from Woolies.

I have tried your pickle chips in the chilli flavour (looks like it's no longer offered). The flavour was great but I found the pickle chips to be very soft and a bit mushy. I prefer pickles to be crunchy and was wondering if this is just your style of pickling. Do you offer chips that are crunchy?

      • +1

Wondering the same thing! Fellow fan of your pickles but I had a similar experience and found your bread and butter pickles to be soft and a bit mushy too. I used to purchase from Woolies - is it because it’s been on the shelf for too long or is this just your style of pickling?

    • Are you GMO free?

    • I ordered Bread & Butter Pickles, but my order confirmation says Dill Pickle Chips.

      Order #2728

The order page kept moving around on my phone and I had to re-enter my details several times.

  • +1

The post backs throughout the checkout screen are killer.

  • +2

Do these pickles have any sharp edges? I am asking for a friend.

    • +3

No but they also don't have a flared base.

      • +2

That's okay. I have been told by my friend that they tie a string to them so it doesn't go missing.

    • Edge lovin' or edge hatin' friend ?

      • +2

I just want to make sure my friend doesn't get any cuts when they insert this into their mouths, during a snack time.

  • +6

looks like someone read a 90's guide to how to design a website, either that or misread the current guides of what NOT to do and thought it was a design guideline. Also doesn't seem to be any whole pickles, just cut up, oh well might try their bread and butter ones as love them on rye or black bread with salami and cottage cheese.

  • +3

Where do I find whole pickles on this website pls?

  • +5

I stocked up on these when Coles had them on clearance. Really great product, don't mind paying a bit extra for locally produced quality.

  • Wish I had stocked up on clearance at Colesworth! Just bought a pack of the seasoning. The single halves were sold out but not the 3 pack?

    • +3

On the flip side of that, that's a direct line of communication to the business showing up, where are you getting that from O/s businesses?

      • -6

I prefer silence than something like this:
        "WE CAN'T STOP"

        • +1

You need to loosen up, stop making things trigger you this easily.

It's really not that big of a deal. It's how they talk/type on their website and socials. So on brand.

Halves have now sold out on their website.
