Do we have any rough idea on price for the 9800?
Less than this but still in the upper $800 mark imo
I'll be paying pretty close attention to the 7800x3d deals then!
@Duplicity: 7800x3d has been going Ng up lately fml
@Micsmit: Yeah it's basically been a one chip race since Intel shat the bed gaming wise
If you can't afford the 9800X3D on release date, just buy the 7800 X3D for Black Friday.
I suspect that there won't be very much performance difference between the 9800 X3D and the 7800 X3D.
The 7800 X3D is still the chart topper on many benchmarks on many games, not to mention you'd have to own an absolute beast of a GPU (RTX 4090) to have the CPU as a bottleneck anyway.
and you would need a decent motherboard as well!
@Retarded Lunatic: Why do you need a decent motherboard for the 9800x3d
I suspect there will only be a few frames in games. Supposed to be a decent percent faster, but really frames wise, I wonder if it will really matter given the graphics card is where its at.
And considering the next generation should still be in the same platform.
I've always been an Intel boy, (my last non Intel was a Cyrix 686). But amd have got me now.
Intel making you buy a new platform pretty much every upgrade is also junk as well… (Well I could update my 8700k to a 9900 I guess)
Zen5% @ 30% more money
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X was going for $663.54 last month.
That's a great deal! … Intel and AMD are having a meh off and you get the pleasure of paying extra for it…
For productivity it’s more like 20% for 30% more money which is decent
for that price aint much of a bargain id rather get the amd 7800x3d for $660 makes sense!
800+ on azon atm
Yeah I know. But Amazon is a good indicator for general price trending. And it's looking like upwards pressure on the 78x3d
Might also be able to score 2 free games (Warhammer 40K Space Marines 2 & Unknown 9 Awakening with) with this processor / retailer, although it's not listed in the terms and conditions as a participating reseller.
X3D chips are coming Nov 7th, so if you're into gaming but not into productivity, content creation or streaming then you might want to wait for 9800 X3D.
