Pretty cheap, down around the price of Aldi's Lazzio Dark. Trying to recall my last coffee experience with Harris - don't think it was memorable - hence the recall problem.

I drink this one all the time and like it. The Aldi one is great too but they don't do the ground one in the 1kg size so based on price, the Harris 1kg is far cheaper. Unfortunately I recently got 4 of these from Amazon when they were $17.55 subscribe and save so with the 6 I just ordered, I'll have 10kg of ground coffee.

If you enjoy this coffee, that's all that matters. 10kg of coffee in storage is a lot - that's around six months for me.

        • I have a Breville coffee machine that I use the ground coffee in. I'll have 2-3 a day. For the price of the machine and this coffee, it does the job and to me it tastes good. The 10 blocks will last 5 months as I go through a 1kg block every 2-3 weeks (roughly).

Bought Harris medium roast during prime sales, it's ass compared to Aldi single origin beans. Old beans, lighter roast need to be ground exceptionally fine to get a half decent extraction but the beans are inconsistent and overall trash.

Agree: ALDI whole beans, ground fresh, are far superior to these (noting that OP mentions above they don’t own a grinder).

I am glad someone tactfully mentioned this. Not to mention having 10kgs of ground coffee on hand…yikes. I would have thought coffee was one thing that is NOT good to stock up on.

Not everyone is a coffee snob and just wants a hit of caffeine.

    • +1

Agree, I don't recommend anything outside of the strong but honestly even at this price just get the aldi ones.

Brew coffee with this. Then get the brewed coffee and brew Aldi coffee with it. Now both are drinkable.

    • lol, at least she is lucid!

If Trump gets you going, you've got more serious issues

      • Exactly this. Most people will just stick to the coffee to get them going. Like what was posted in the deal…

But did this coffee work at McDonald's? 🤔

Still choosing coles strong 1Kg for $15 every day over this. Shame it’s no longer $13 but still a bargain.

    • +2

Yeah the coles coffee is really good. On my second bag from the $6 deal. Wish i got more

      • +1

My attempts to bribe the manager at Coles/Reddy Express to get some of the beans they use in their machine has been unsuccessful. It's good stuff.

  • Curious to know why does anyone buy ground coffee to put into a coffee machine?
Isn't ground coffee lost the quality of the coffee by already being grinded and packaged?

    • -3

      To use as compost

      • +1

I use it for insect control in the garden.
Brew, allow to cool, spray plants.
Then use the grounds on the soil

    • +2

Lots of machines don’t have grinders, and people who buy cheaper machines are less inclined to buy a standalone grinder. Also plenty of people still make plunger, stovetop, and pour over coffee which are low cost brewing methods without the need for a grinder. Plunger coffee is my Saturday treat when I’ve got 10 minutes to make it and an hour to drink it.

    • Isn't ground coffee lost the quality of the coffee by already being grinded

Dunno but you could check the app to confirm

      • Why answer if you don't know

        • I thought he was talking in code lol

Both coffees would be trash water here in Australia. Better to stick to independent Australian coffee roasters and make sure the roast date is recent.

I buy the extra strong black bag Harris, was on special a couple of weeks ago for 15/kg, just missed the sale. normally i get 10 bags per purchase, lasts me about a year, remains good the entire time. Have tried Coles and Aldi coffee but found it too dry and weak. Nice find on this op, will hit Amazon now and see if the black bags of extra strong are on sale because I need to resupply shortly.

Edit: I didn't see it was pre-ground and beans are full price, back to the waiting area for me.

  • Lavazza Oro: far superior
