    F. Murray Abraham is an excellent actor. He would have made a very good Hannibal Lector.

    Such a good transfer 👌

@Jake T - No it’s not. For you to say that you mustn’t be able to notice the flaws in this U.S. Kino Lorber 4K version which are well documented (one of the major issues is present for the first 10 minutes of the running time), and need to read up on what they are, and how the new UK Arrow films 4K BD of Silence of the Lambs is the vastly superior release.

      • +6

I didn't 'need' to, but I did anyway lol. So the opening of the film has some colour issues, and I did indeed notice them and put it down to the drab tone that the opening of the film has always had. It didn't stop me enjoying the overall excellent fidelity of this version, it's the best I'd ever seen it.

Still, I may try the Arrow version sometime because I do love an upgrade, even if it is checks notes four times the price 😬

        • -3

The reason you have stated as what you “put it down to” is an incorrect evaluation, the first 10 minutes of the film isn’t supposed to look like it does on this Kino 4K disc, it’s an encoding error that has been corrected on the Arrow Films release, which was worked on by David Mackenzie at Fidelity in Motion. Is that all you noticed? There are more issues with this release (I do own it), like I mentioned I think you and other members here should thoroughly read through the Kino and Arrow 4K BD threads for this title on Blu-ray.com to learn about what they are if you don’t know, before spending money on this Kino release.

@Billy Bob: Hold up, you're serious?
This is the most "um, actually" post I've seen on the internet.

            Insufferable.

            • -3

@fiend: I sure am serious. If you don’t want to continue being just another Ozbargainer that doesn’t have a clue about these sorts of things I would suggest you start reading through these 2 threads, because it’s extensively covered there:

@Billy Bob: I thumbed up your initial reply because the encode is poor and I think people should know that, but it's like you've taken classes on how to come across as the most tiresome sanctimonious stinker imaginable. You didn't even go into the issues you just told them to research it themselves and continually talked down to whoever didn't notice them until you finally posted relevant links—albeit accompanied by more smug derision. You should have made a discrete post with those links and your more granular observations instead of ineffectually engaging here as a gatekeeping bully.

                • -3

@Alcaro: I’m not talking down to anyone, my posts are to inform only so people don’t waste their money on this. I didn’t go into detail about the issues because there is little point as most people on this website wouldn’t understand what the issues are even when they’re explained to them, the membership here are geeks in a different way, they’re not geeks in the same way as people like myself and members of Blu-ray.com are who have a lot of experience and knowledge and a strong understanding of how to assess picture and audio quality of the content they watch. If they do want to know more, I linked to where they can find out more.

                  • +1

@Billy Bob: Mate, you're the king of talking down to people, let's call those facts out as they are…

@Billy Bob: Someone get this man a fedora.
Who am I kidding, he has a bunch in his basement.

                    • -1

@fiend: Nothing I have said in this thread about there being quality issues and flaws with this U.S. Kino Lorber 4K BD release of Silence of the Lambs is untrue, and you can read all about it if you want to in the links to Blu-ray.com I posted where many members there have discussed it, or you can continue being ignorant about it and demonstrating on OzBargain that you know nothing Jon Snow if you want to, I don’t care either way.

                • +2

@Alcaro: Good luck with him! He has the delusional belief that he's the self-proclaimed global authority on all things AV and Blu-ray. Well, on everything actually. And should you dare to have a differing opinion, you'll be given a right spanking because his 5000 Blu-rays prove that he's more than just a basement dweller (so he thinks). But if you want to see what he's really like, you can go down the rabbit hole here.

I sincerely hope you don't own or tell him you own a sound bar! Sanctimonious would be putting it lightly. Smug, arrogant, self-righteous and toxic.

How ironic he's linked back to a forum that he got permanently banned from for the same type of behaviour! 😂 His previous username Cevolution if you want to check out his post history, just more of the same arrogant drivel, check out AVSforum too, exact same nonsense before being booted for life from there too. Don't waste your time with this troll.

                  • @howcan: Just noticed you need to do a verification check before searching post history via that link, if it didn't work do it from this page then statistics tab - view all posts. Enjoy.

            • @fiend: most responses are um actually's though. seriously I don't know what it's about but it's just like that online and ozbargain has a lot of them.
recently the most bizzare one was after the post/thread was a couple days old already, another user sneaks in a single comment which is like "um actually this ONE discrepancy here, this tells me everything I need to know about you and how much you know."
like what? 😂 nobody responded as you would expect.

also awhile ago I locked horns another user who weirdly commented about how they had 5 bluray players in the house and one PS5 with a massive collection (I found this a very odd and obnoxious comment). so I am inclined to try to side with billy here since the comment is not like that one. in his comment he is responding logically and directly. I guess it rubs people the wrong way but I read it without putting tone into the equation. 3rd comment he posted links to back up what he is saying so yeah checks out for me.

I have no interest in blurays btw, just came here to comment on the movie.

@harshbdmmaster718: He changed his username so you'll find that it's the same guy. He's already threatened violence against me.

                • -5

@Clear: Once again you’re being dishonest on this forum. I didn’t threaten violence against you, on the contrary, what I actually said after you made a comment stating that you would insult me to my face if we were to meet up was, I doubt that you follow through, but on hand I would happily say it to yours, and it what I said to you face to face we’re to piss you off to the point that I made you react violently towards me and you swung a punch at me, I would swing one back, and afterwards it would be you who wouldn’t be returning home, meaning you’d be in hospital for at the least the night… Here’s a link to screen of what I said which a mod send me via private message:

                    • -5

@Clear: It’s there in black and white as I have linked to in the screenshot, you are being dishonest about what I said and the context of it, I certainly didn’t threaten violent against you, I said what would happen if you were to hit me first. I was banned for a week because you’re dobber who reported the post complaining to the mods about it like a toddler does.

@Billy Bob: That's enough internet tonight buddy.

                        • -5

@Clear: You should be taking your own advice Clear.

It’s certainly gone way beyond normal with you, and definitely with those other 2 stalking weirdos, Howcan and KangaDrew, who still seem to be so upset over separate discussions we’ve all had on OzBargain where we disagreed and had a difference of opinion, that all 3 of you weeks/months after the discussions occurred are popping up in threads I post in to quote me and to continue the feuds, and are trying so hard to attack my username and bring it to other peoples attention (which is quite odd to say the least, especially when the username Cevolution means nothing to me, I have other accounts with different usernames on most forums I visit and you’d be none the wiser). If you were really getting to me and I honestly cared about you 3 and what you’re saying about me and doing, but are failing at, I would deactivate my OzBargain account and open a new one tomorrow. In fact I’m convinced that KangaDrew is a sock account and is actually another member currently named Faro… This other member a few months ago would follow me around on here quoting me all the time wanting to feud with me just like KangaDrew has been doing (he admitted he is autistic), but it stopped around the time things started with KangaDrew:

                          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/250277

You Clear least seem to be relatively normal though, whereas those other 2 extreme online stalker nutters KangaDrew and Howcan don’t who have been following me around this site quoting me relentlessly recently far more than you and love having a chat with each other about me, thinking it’s actually hurting me in their minds, when it’s doing no such thing. The more they do it the bigger the smile, the longer it continues to go on for the more they’re tarnishing their own usernames, as being crazy unstable online personalises who could do the same thing they have been doing to me to any other member they have a disagreement with in the future that rubs them the wrong way, because they’re certainly demonstrating that they clearly have issues letting go of minor forum disputes and do hold on to grudges. Members Howcan and KangaDrew are both on my blocked members list and they’re the only members on it, so I’m never going to respond to them.

                        • @Clear: I think people in general are never happy. just best to move on that’s what I do anyway.

I got a few consistent users always ignoring the title I put effort into with [SUBS] on my streaming posts. clicking anyway and commenting it was “not a deal” because it was on a sub. then posted more ones that were “free with ads”, then ads was the problem. then recently I posted one new release that was 100% free without ads on YouTube, and it got 10+ reports for it being “illegal” within a few mins. I’m assuming most of them were the same users who had issues with my movie posts in the past. 😂

Yes, because it was never intended to be a movie for thenthitive snowflakes.

I thnk the bad guy is a little more than just transgender..

    • +2

Lecter tells Clarice that Buffalo Bill isn't trans and was rejected for reassignment surgery. Buffalo Bill only believes he's trans to escape his tormented past. He even admits as much with the line, "You don't know what pain is! ".

  • -2

    I smell your c### Clarice.

    • I could be wrong but don’t think he actually says that and refers to being able to smell her menstruation.

  • This 4k was cheaper a few weeks ago during the amazon sale

  • Resolution: Native 4K (2160p)

    That's quite nice.

Note: 2.0 is downmix of 5.1

    Uhh…

    Playback
    4K Blu-ray: Region free
    2K Blu-ray: Region A (locked)

    Oh well.

  • -1

Hmm, it's not one of those movies that really benefits from a 4K resolution…

  • for a old movie Silence of the lambs is a solid movie. keeps your attention the whole way and acting/characters are amazing. spoiler ahead not that it matters because it's so old probably everyone's seen it.

especially the serial killer (buffallo bill) was interesting twisted and almost like he was a few grades behind in school but manages to get the upper hand with the nightvision towards the end. loved it I would watch it again even though I watched it very recently.

    • I agree, great film. Its a real shame the Hannibal TV series ended abruptly.
