    Target clearance for $289.

    What theeeee .. when when

    • +6

      https://www.target.com.au/p/nintendo-switch-console-oled-mod…
I saw it today, and maybe I am wrong that it was not recently.

      • +3

Nah, the cheapest was like $409 (I got that back then). That pricing was updated after it was sold out. I think the system just generate the discounts even though it is out of stock.

      • +7

I saw someone managed to price match that at a JB store that wasn’t fussed it was out of stock.

        • I'm sorry Ozbargain. When I saw it (October 4!) I thought "Damn, how'd I miss the original deal?".

It never occurred to me that it hadn't been posted as a deal here.

        • I’ll try price matching at my local JB

          • +1

            @rnc2000: Waiting for an update.

            • @LightlySparking: He is currently in the watch-house awaiting sentencing.

            • +1

@LightlySparking: Update: successfully price matched at my local JB. The guy didn’t even ask any questions. Only thing is they didn’t have stock so it will be coming in next week from one of the Sydney stores

    • +1

a real Nintendo Switch that didn't even make it to ozbargain, damn

  • +24

Sorry but how is this a deal

  • +4

I'm sure that there will be a Black Friday Bundle with Mario Kart 8 coming (just like previous years).

    EDIT: already available in US

Especially since they would want to push out stock for the imminent Switch 2.

Especially since they would want to push out stock for the imminent Switch 2.

Going to be a lot of pissed of parents early next year after they buy their kids a Switch in December only for a new one to be announced straight away.

Be one thing if they were giving a good discount, but these prices are just BS.

  • Yeah I've seen them for that on Amazon au I'm pretty sure, and just buy screen protectors for 11$.

Think mine was about $256 all up with that everyday market 32% cashback that time.

    • $256 for the OLED?

      • Yeah required the good cashback then 28d price protection claim.

  • -6

will be $200 in 3-6 months time when new one comes out.

    • Maybe the normal switch will be easily obtainable for $250-300 in 6 months.

I'd be surprised if the switch 2 was even released within 6 months.

  • +6

It's good, but I also recommend the switch 2 (2025).

    • +3

Probably going to be $650 and LCD display with $100 games.

I'm a Ninty fanboi, but I'm going to be waiting for mid-gen and OLED before I step up.

This Switch gen has been soo good, there's such a backlog to get to.

      • +1

Not even gonna jump to the successor for the upscaled backwards compatibility?

        • At OLED and the first decent OzB deal….

      • This switch gen has been the best of all gens. Great first party. Thriving indie scene. While being portable.

        • +1

          Lol no.

For most of the Switch’s life the first party titles were just Wii U games.

Third party dried up quick because the hardware was so underpowered.

By far the worst generation of Pokemon games.

JoyCon drift hardware design flaw Nintendo refused to fix.

Removal of Virtual Console and replaced with a subscription service.

The Switch was obviously a financial success for Nintendo. But imo it was a terrible generation.

  • +3

Essentially the same internals as the console that launched for $470 in 2017

    • $425.21 < $470

      • +11

Hey! I've got a 2010 Camry to sell to you. I bought it for $30k but I'll sell it to you for $29k. It's less so a deal, right?

        • +2

Something can be a deal without being a good deal.

          • +3

            @Diminuendo: Didn’t Andrew O'Keefe teach you nothing?

Deals are binary. Deal or No Deal.

        • Unfair comparison when cars notoriously depreciate in value extremely rapidly.

You'll be shocked to find out some things actually INCREASE in value with time…

        • Hey, is this still available?

    • What are some other things that were designed before today

      • +7

What technology hasn't dropped in price in 7 years with a replacement releasing within the next 6 months.

    • +6

the same internals as the console that launched for $470 in 2017

Don't forget that those internals were also almost identical to the Nvidia Shield Tablet released in 2014. So it's basically a decade old tech.

    • +1

This factually wrong. The oled model was after 2020 and came with massively improve battery life.

      • +2

I did say essentially the same internals.

  • -1

I am actually gearing up to sell up my switch oled and games because of the new nintendo console coming soon.

    • +2

Why would you sell the games when backwards compatibility is almost a certainty?

      • -2

knowing Nintendo and the rumors its going to be a brand new console and it won't be called a switch. all Nintendo consoles in the past have never been backward compatible eg you can put a GameCube disc in a switch.

        • Nintendo handhelds have a history of being backwards compatible, and the Switch is hybrid of both.

Edit: The home consoles have history of being backwards compatible, when the storage media was similar. GameCube > Wii, and Wii > Wii U.

        • +1

Game boy to game boy advance was backwards compatible.
The same for game boy advance games to the ds lite.
The new 3ds was compatible with ds games.
The wii was compatible with GameCube games.
The wii U was compatible with wii games.

          Never my ass.

          • -1

@Diminuendo: I still can't play gamecube or wiii or wii u games on my switch… so never your donkey is right.

            • +1

@kungfuman: Your exact quote was “all Nintendo consoles in the past have never been backward compatible”.

To disprove your false statement all I needed was one instance of Nintendo backwards compatibility. I provided five.

      • MIG Switch carts (and dupes r4, etc) so prices might start going down for games

I would keep the console just for that though

    • +2

Yes, HODL for sure when switch 2 is just around the corner.

      • Could be Q3 next year for all we know.

  • does this come with english

    • +4

No. Human trafficking is illegal. No english or other people included.

      • +2

        since when

  • +1

this is time, the switch 2 is around the corner, and for real. 😭
