  • Anyone who got the P1S Combo - any issues?

I can't seem to get the AMS going properly. It'll sometimes load all the way through to the extruder and then pull back like and tell me the filament is empty. Have tried all slots. 4 different rolls of filament and about 4 hours worth of other solutions found online. The tubes all seem clean, can push through filament manually. Am currently running my first print without the AMS. Videos below. Rinse and repeat.

    • Mine works without a hitch. I'd report it to Bambu, something isn't right.

Yeh I thought it might be the case, have sent it their way and waiting to hear back! Thanks for replying :)

    • Were you running a print when this happened? Off chance but I ran into the same behaviour and it turned out I was running a multi colour print when I only had one spool in the AMS. Swapping slots didn't help but adding spools so all the slots had filament got it back on track.

      • Sadly not. Have only been able to thread it through to the extruder once and that was with my own assistance, I’ve followed probably 50 odd guides online and even played with the tubing etc and still couldn’t successfully get it done.

Have received one reply from Bambu Support telling me to provide them a video even though there’s a video on the actual ticket already haha. They get a pass because it’s the weekend, but at this point I’d rather a brand new replacement rather than (profanity) around getting them to repair it (if they can’t offer a simple solution over email ot course)

        • Damn that's annoying, I hope they can sort it quick.

  • (X1C Combo)
    https://wiki.bambulab.com/x1/manual/quick-start-guide/p4-x1c…

Spare hot-end was a surprise to me
    I haven't found in package
    - Glue stick for build plate
    - Spare sheet for Bambu cool plate
    - Bambu scraper

Short power cord means I haven't been able to test mine yet

The scraper is just the blade, you print the scraper grip.

The metal blade seemed too harsh to use on the textured plate. I really like this scraper with printed blades: https://makerworld.com/models/413220

I bought an X1C combo too. No glue stick or any kind of extra build plate. Neither are shown in the what's in the box on the product page.

      https://au.store.bambulab.com/products/x1-carbon

You really don't need the glue for PLA on the textured plate in my experience so far.

Also you probably received 2 rolls of PLA (1 extra) and one of PLA support that's not listed on your linked page. And one of their little maker kits too. You can't just list what's missing without listing what's extra :) Edit: Derp that's listed for the AMS part on the page I linked.

There is some G code in the internal memory for a very basic plastic only scraper I think that does the job for me so far with PLA/PETG at least. And it you proeprly wait for it to cool everything pretty mouch pops off with little effort or scraping.

Yes the short power cord was a bit of a surprise but fortunately my setup had power right on the wall .

    • Yeah, my A1 power cord was pretty short. Found a longer one in my power cord box, it's a pretty generic PC one

  • So Bambu support are pretty slow sadly via email, but they’ve confirmed my AMS is faulty and given me 3 options:

1: Send back the entire combo (P1S and AMS) and have a replacement sent out, can take 2/3 weeks but with Perth shipping tax I suspect closer to a month

2: Do an advanced replacement for the entire combo, they will place a hold on my card while this is done

3: Have 1 first stage feeder sent out and perform the repair replacement myself with the link they sent me (even though all 4 feeders are doing the same thing)

Obviously option 2 seems like the logical choice, albeit annoying that funds will be tied up but more so sending back the entire combo seems very inefficient. I’ve been printing beautifully with just the external spool holder. I’d give the repair myself option a whirl if it was a few months down the track but since it came like this out of the box I’d prefer just grabbing a brand new unit

  • Ordered A1. About a week later the gifts rocked up.

Tea lights. RGB remote lights, small magnets

No issues. Happy with the printer. This stuff was fine

  • +2

For anyone like me who is waiting for the price to drop on Amazon to use gift cards etc., I contacted their Amazon support and the most they would tell me is that their Black Friday pricing will start on 19th Nov.

  • Thinking about used X1C with AMS with 700 hours of work for 1500$ vs new P1S with AMS. Any thoughts? I don't think 700 hours are really too much? Probably no warranty any more but is it a really problem?

    • Not that much of a discount from buying new if you don't know the history. If you know or trust the seller that's a different story. $369 difference?

Yes possibly no warranty. 700 hours is a bit but plenty have run thousands of hours.

  • I haven't looked into 3D printers for a while, but I have two requirements seem like a good principles for 3D printers

    • ✅ **Open Source application ** - Bambulab's BambuStudio is AGPL and available for Linux/win/mac

    • ❓ Are they repairable and have repair support:

      • ❔ Does Bambu use their own 3D printers in manufacturing to make printers or parts? (do they eat their own dog food?)
      • ❔Do they publish repair guides
      • ❔ Do they publish schematics for replacement parts? (*)

(unless there's some cost threshold that makes spare part manufacturing complicated for cheaper printers)

Can anyone answer any of these questions?

(fyi there are some black friday sales on amazon - which are more expensive than this deal)

      Open Source application
Note the firmware is not open source.

Are they repairable and have repair support:
      Yes

Does Bambu use their own 3D printers in manufacturing to make printers or parts? (do they eat their own dog food?)
No, but printing your own parts for production isn't necessarily a good thing. Injection moulded etc is often better.

      Do they publish repair guides
Yes for replacing modules, fixing clogs/jams etc

Do they publish schematics for replacement parts? (*)
      No

This is all pretty easy to find stuff. Start here to see the documentation available:

      • Thanks. Pretty good for a beginner, but I'd probably rule it out for a professional context.
