What devices commonly use 48V lithium batteries?

    • +5

Off grid cabins using inverters to step up to 240V and charging from solar. Easier install using 48V DC as your starting point / base rather than 12v.

      • Isn't 50Ah capacity a bit too low for cabin use?

        • +1

          Buy more than one …

          • @LoftyAu: Usually prefer 200Ah battery (12V) for a campervan, these four 48V batteries will add up to about $3000 O.o

            • +6

@edfoo: Funny you say that because 50Ah at 48V is the same capacity as 200Ah at 12V.

            • +1

@edfoo: At 48V you amp demand for load is less.

As other poster pointed out, 50Ah 48V battery has same stored energy (Watt-hours) as a 12V 200Ah battery.

But yes, for off grid living you need much more energy storage regardless of whether you got 48V base or 12V base.

      Your ebike! Imagine the range

Yeah this would be perfect for my bafang bbshd 1500w If I was thinking of traveling from Melbourne to Adelaide. Probably would only need two charges..

But that's just a thought, would never want to go there. Especially on a bike

      • Imagine trying to fit this 23kg battery onto your ebike…

Dang that battery has nearly 2.5 Kwh of electricity in it

  • Can anyone recommend a plug and play battery box that would work with this to get standard power outlets or is that not possible?

Is there a reasonable way to buy 4 of these and setup as a 10kwh home battery?
    Charge off solar etc
