Killer deal on the batteries ! Great find op

    • +4

Those needing just one or a couple, have Bunnings 10% price beat the BL1850B which PTS has for $119.40

      https://powertoolspecialists.com.au/products/makita-18-volt-…

      • Bunnings is very good with pricematch. I wonder how long before the Bunnings website price matched to this price.

      • +1

Yep, I just did that too. In Melville (WA) cause shipping is free got 2 @$107.46 each

    • Facebook marketplace for makita batteries

    • Great find! Add the cheapest makita accessory to your order, and you'll be entered into the giveaway!

      • The pity is, I'm looking for an SDS to replace my close-to-wrecked brushless recipro.

        • I'd be giving them a call and see if they can do any deal for you, that's what I normally do. It's a family owned shop so they are happy to look at the pricing instead of being at big shops like you have asked them a stupid question.

        • What job have you been using a recipro for that an SDS is better suited haha?

          • @Schniz2: To correct my grammar 😅
The recipro is OK. All the rubber is going or gone in the SDS. It's a home converted 3ah brushed model. It still bangs and turns the bits, but has a tough existence.

            • @RogerLoger: Still a little confused, sounds like an interesting contraption though!

              • @Schniz2: Used to look a bit like this model https://www.mamtus.ng/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnai…
More green than standard Makita colour.
It survived a fall onto concrete from a two-story building, but its the patina of regular use that has me worried it may be on its way out.
Everything is scratched and dirt is ingrained.
White markings on the settings are long gone.
Trigger rubber is split to the stage of almost falling off.
The chuck vibrates slightly until the bit is about half way into a rock.

You might want to remove "All" from the title. Great price on the 18v batteries, but this sale doesn't seem to include the Makita 40v range.

    • +3

This! Got too excited there for a second, before digging through the site and not finding any 40V batteries on sale… :'(

      • +1

Ditto. I could do with another 2.5Ah XGT battery. Those 4Ah batteries are bloody bricks.

    • They do have a minor deal on the XGT dual charger. $299. $359 at Total and Sydney Tools.

      https://powertoolspecialists.com.au/products/makita-dc40rb-4…

    • I just copied the messaging from the website, if you see any accessories that are not 40% off, I'd be calling the shop to get that discount.

    • +2
      • Cheers! The 4Ah battery is tempting at that price, I might have to enquire about getting the discount on the 8Ah.

        • What are you using that you'd need the 8Ah batt for? That thing's a monster.

          • @Fappo: A self propelled lawn mower (LM001G) on a large hilly property. I get by just fine with the 2 x 5Ah batteries it came with but would like have another battery to dedicate to the blower. The 4Ah will do, but I can't help but wonder how the 8Ah will perform.

            • @ohgee: Yeah, it would make sense for lawn and gardening gear. I use a 2x18V whipper snipper and it's usually fine for my needs, but sometimes a unit with a big beast of a battery like that would be handy.

There's a YouTube channel called Tools & Stuff that does a lot of XGT reviews. I wouldn't be surprised if he's done a comparison of the different batteries on the 40V blower.

              • +1

@Fappo: Thanks man, appreciate the Tools & Stuff YouTube suggestion, I'll check it out.

  • Not sure how they will package MAKITA 18 VOLT 5.0AH BATTERY 6 PACK BL1850X6 WITH BONUS MAKPAC115, but last time I bought a Makita case from them, they basically plastic bag wrap the case and sent it to me (no cardboard box, no padding). The delivery company did scratch it a bit. The store did post quite quick.

    • That's annoying that your package was damaged during shipping. I have had a great experience with them, being a small family shop, I could actually ask them for a deal instead of being at big shops who just look at you like you asked them a stupid question.

      • Price was good and since it was free postage, it was still a great deal. It's a case so minor scratches are okay.

My main gripe is their best deals sold out / get OZB'ed too quickly.

  • +1

Excellent, pikced up heaps of stuff!

So tempted but can’t be sure if they stock genuine. So many counterfeit power tools and accessories out there that are hard to differentiate from original.

    • +2

Price beat @ Bunnings then :)

It's a physical shop in Carlton, VIC and they are authorised resellers for Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Hikoki, Stihl, Festool etc. They also have an authorised tool repair shop upstairs. I have shopped in-store several times. As an OP I wouldn't be posting if the deal isn't a great deal or genuine products. This one is guaranteed genuine, you'll get a tax invoice, and you are covered under Milwaukee Australia warranty as all stock in Australian.

They have been around forever. I first went to this shop in Carlton about 14 years ago. I got all my powertools there. The place is buzzing with plenty of tradies as if they are doing grocery shopping. The boss is super friendly. The prices are free for you to bargain, they are more than willing to price match. Support the little independent store. It's a bit like the defunct Just Tools in South Melbourne. I did not see any lower tier brands in the store.

    • lol

Just remembered that it was a Makita Charger and Battery that caused a fire that damaged a large part of the building that we were in also.

        • You boss probably also bought some eBay Mokita battery which caused the fire.

Anyone else unable to use PayPal?

Tried a bunch of different browsers. Keeps failing.

No adblock. No problems logging in to PayPal. Just this site saying that I'll have to use a different payment method. Just feels dodgy.

    • Oh yeah, that's the thing for me as well. PayPal didn't work for me either when I bought from them previously. I used a digital credit card with a dynamic CVV (the CVV changes every few hours).

    • Same problem here. Just used GPay on my phone instead.

It is weird, but they are legit. Or used to be, lol. Have bought from them a few times, but not for quite a few years.

Tracks for track saw seem good of I had that system

    • yeah they are a very good price. shame the 1.4m ones have sold out, they were only $70. ordered the 1.5m an got free shipping but I'm not sure how they are going to manage that. usually shipping for tracks is expensive

Has anyone been able to register their purchase to enter the sitebox giveaway promo?

The link to register takes me to a zoho form that is just an image with the text "The promotion period has not expired. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our friendly store team anytime."

Maybe try clearing browser cache or try incognito window!?

      • Thank you! Using incognito mode did the trick.
