all time low at 3 camels, this is an older model (tri-band) and there is a newer model available (RBK852S) but it is dual band.

I'm not sure if I buy this NetGear one or wait until Eero Pro 6E comes down to a reasonable deal…

Surely the WiFi 6e google nest posted earlier is a better deal?

    • At a local store in VIC though.

It is a better deal for a general consumer. the Orbi has dedicated backhaul.

  • Tough buy considering what the 3pack Google Nest Pro has been selling for.

    • true… I'm just trying to detach myself from so many Google things

the comparable eero is better, not that the differences matter much for our lovely nbn capabilities: https://www.rtings.com/router/tools/compare/eero-pro-6e-vs-g…

Not sure Amazon is all that much an improvement cf google.

      • I’ve never been a fan of Google products if I’m being honest. Tried Chrome Cast got rid of it for a Apple TV, tried Google smart speakers replaced them with Apple HomePods, but that’s just my opinion I guess

I like Netgear but I think I’ll wait till the Eero 3pk 6+ is on sale again, hopefully better then the last sale price for Black Friday or something

  • boxing day sales around corner…

I owned the older Netgear RBK50. The hardware was solid but the web interface and mobile app were absolutely trash. Basic stuff like there was no way to sort the list of client devices other than alphabetically. That's absurd. So many times I wanted to sort by IP address but nope, can't do it. You also had no way to separate out the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for IoT devices that would only operate on 2.4GHz. Not to mention the trash Android app that only worked half the time and would get stuck in a login loop. Urrgh.

I've owned a range of brands and the Netgear stuff was absolutely the worst by a mile. Even my 10 year old Asus modem was heaps better. Unless they've improved their interface dramatically, I wouldn't touch their gear again. I now own a Ubiquiti UCG-Ultra and a couple of U6+ APs and it cost me less than this. More importantly, it's night and day compared to the Netgear in terms of usability. Very easy to manage and rock solid. Yes, I get that it's a different setup and my setup requires cat cable and PoE but I already had that.

You get get wifi 7 for around this price range, why bother with tech two generations old?

    • Can you share a WiFi 7 mesh system (2 pack) that can deliver the same area range and signal quality around this price range?
That would be a great deal!!
