Cheers, chat was easy for me so I got it for the same price you did!

    • were you a new member or do you already have some Samsung things?

I just joined and was asked to send images and proof that I owened Samsung products..which I don't

      • I have a bunch of stuff lying around, ended up taking a photo of one of my SSDs (with serial number). You could try asking about warranty and they might give you a code at the end of the chat. My friend asked about burn-in coverage and got a code just for that.

        • What's their cover for burn-in? Is it 3 years like some of the others?

          • @TozBargain: I was told there is no coverage (I guess that's subject to the support agent not knowing, but I'd hope they would).

            • @Diji: Ah that's an interesting one. It's nice to have 3 years, but at the same time I'm using the OLED at night for games and movies, and my LCD during the day for work. So how likely is it that I'll need burn-in warranty? All very good questions, that probably noone can answer.

These devices have service logs, they'll use that to judge how you've been using the monitor and what reasonable steps you've been taking to avoid permanent burn-in. The 'burn-in warranty' you see from others basically states the same thing, it's just a silly marketing gimmick.

Thank you, I forgot I had an old Samsung TV so used that.

  • I bought the Alienware version with this panel for 1.1k about 3 weeks ago, so can still return it. Are there pros and cons to each? If I return it and get a shittier product to something I already had — despite it being cheaper, I probbaly won't be happy with it.

There's a little comparison in the Rtings review, that might help your decision a little bit:

I just got the same price of $683.14.

I used the live chat in the app and just said that a friend told me I could get 10% off if I have a previous Samsung product. Sent a photo of the plate on my Frame TV.

  • I got it, but for $759.05. I received a loyalty voucher but it wouldn't apply. When I asked the person in the chat, they said it didn't work because it was sold out. So I felt pressured and bought what was in my cart. However, it's still not sold out, and of course the code combination worked for others. Any thoughts @Scott Martin?

For what it's worth, I followed the steps and the page is now showing a $100 trade-up value instead of $200 as posted. My loyalty voucher applied just fine, but the resulting final cost after discounts (including 5% off for first-time app use) is $768.64.

        • The discount code doesn't stack with the trade-in. Applying a trade-in overwrites the SSTEN code, and it errors out if you try to use it after setting a trade-in. Believe me, I did try!

          • @tmr3: RIP 😔

damn good deal and managed to get the extra discount, cheers!

    • Were u able to get the $200 trade in value? On my end it only shows $100.

      • Looks like it's finished up for now.

      • bit late but i did get the 200, however when I checked back the same day I saw they reduced it to 100. I got my order in on time I guess.

Got mine delivered this morning. Have set it up and done a couple of cheeky tests during work.

First impressions, starting with the immediate cons:

    • The text fringing present on QD-OLED displays is definitely noticeable to me. At the desktop and in standard apps, text is visibly less sharp than my Dell S2721DGF monitors (27" 1440p IPS LCD). However I wouldn't say it's awful; annoying if I'm looking for it, but once I sit back and start using it I'm able to "look past it" so to speak. However, I would personally consider this a dealbreaker for a productivity-dominant use case.
      • I played around with Better ClearType Tuner but ended up leaving it on RGB mode - greyscale made some fonts look a bit strange. But it and/or MacType are probably worth trying anyway.
    • Pixel shift - this is a burn in mitigation feature that can't be disabled. In a brightly lit room, it's very obvious the image on screen doesn't take up the full panel due to the blacks shifting to be more grey under lights, and I can clearly see when the image shifts around on screen. It happened while writing this comment, and it's a bit distracting when it does happen.
    • Speaking of which, in a brightly lit room, the black/grey shift is certainly apparent, but also not a dealbreaker for me as my IPS monitors were already pretty low contrast and I feel like this is still better. It's a complete non-issue in the dark.
    • Windows HDR support is still pretty meh.

    And the pros:

    • Wow does this thing feels smooth at the desktop at 360 Hz. Huge step up over 60 Hz, and still noticeably faster than 165 Hz to my eye.
    • The response times of an OLED makes games appear cleaner than they ever have, especially during motion.
    • The colours pop like crazy in native colour space mode. HDR on + AutoHDR really amps up some games.
    • I'm very excited to dive into my back catalogue and see what games look like!

    Other notes:

    • Delivery was handled through ANC. They sent me text alerts with plenty of info, let me pick a preferred day for delivery, and it arrived within 10 minutes of their estimate. The courier took a photo of the box and my trade-in (an old 16:10 Samsung monitor that I bought for $10 and got $100 worth of trade in value for…). Overall, very happy with my experience (metro Melbourne).
    • Mine came running firmware version 1002.2 which appears to be the latest as of 25 September.

Overall, while I was originally contemplating a 32" 4K OLED for the higher pixel density, and one of those at sub-$1000 would have been tempting, I couldn't resist this at these prices ($768.64 for me all up). I'd say my first impression thus far is 'satisfied'. I now have the challenge of working this into my desk setup as my main display while also keeping my two other monitors usable for WFH…

    • Agree that the text fringing is really off-putting. I am using it with macos, and at first thought I had misconfigured something. I've decided to keep my LG 5k for work (programming) and use the OLED as a secondary display + primary for my gaming pc. Looking forward to gaming on it once my PC is done this week.
