I don't trust shopback. Take your own risk.

Last time it provide 32% cashback for Everyday Market. And I purchased $328 airpod pro2. The cashback is not tracked, and then I contacted shopback support, and then they added $1.70 cashback to my account and told me they need to investigate. I provide the screenshot for the cashback rate and also asked if you need to investigate, why don't use the rate show on you page? Then no response at all.

    • +2

Yes mine is currently under investigation for two weeks now since Everyday Market is not getting back to Shopback…. caveat emptor

      • +1

Mine is stuck as pending with Cashrewards as well, well beyond the due date.

        • +1

Happened with topcashback here. Could be a vendor issue

      • same…… if this doesnt get fixed then ill be taking further action. Never had an issue in the past until using on this one.

    • +5

Agree, even with Amazon, eligible purchase always track at $0 and the rep cannot assist, spent over $400 two days ago with no cashback is a rip off

      • I hesitated buying something with the 10% Amazon Westpac bonus the other day because of the recent issues with Amazon tracking, ultimately decided to let it go. It's been happening with multiple stores for at least several months (BWS and Big W to name a couple of others). Seems it may have coincided with the mass layoffs earlier this year.

An alternative would be highest cashback guarantees with TCB if possible (though you'd miss out on bank bonuses), or just avoid these stores via SB altogether.

      • @ozvictor That's a big purchase. I had a small order. Due to recent Amazon issues, was expecting the order to track at 0% and it did. GYB has been informed in the post and will remind if it's not sorted soon.

What's unusual and frustrating with ShopBack is the tracking amounts have been known to change to 0 or a smaller amount later, even after they have been fixed. Experienced this with eBay and Amazon. Haven't seen these fluctuations with Cashrewards or TopCashback.

@MiscOzB eBay is another one that had tracking issues. The co-founder/GM of ShopBack was contacted in May so that the eBay issues could be resolved quickly.

@Repstar Awesome deal but will it track correctly and will they have stock?
Repstar's tip is to buy from Big W as it's easy to return if it doesn't track.

      • +2

Yep haha. Highly recommend making 1 purchase from BIGW (min $50) to see if tracking works. Once it tracks, then make your real purchases. If the store doesn’t do change of mind returns, avoid - not worth it with potential tracking problems.

  • What will actually happen: Some random $1 slice of cheese will be not available/out of stock, invalidating the entire transaction's cashback.

Edit: Oh oops, marketplace, not groceries. Nevermind :)

    • $1 cheese?! In this economy?

      • +2

How much could a slice of cheese cost?! $1?!

It's disappointing that people are downvoting you. They mustn't have got the reference.

          • +3

@puffinfresh: lol, it's wild that there are now people who don't get this reference… and also they'd downvote banter just because they don't get it. lighten up, people, this isn't Model UN.

          • +3

@puffinfresh: Agreed, everyone do your selves a favour and watch Arrested Development - you can thank @xrailgun later. :-)

There seems to be an intentional effort by ShopBack and Everyday Market to continually market these promotion but I haven’t heard a single “high ticket” order get confirmed. I’m still waiting on a $320 cashback to get confirmed (had to submit a missed cashback claim for it to get “tracked”).

ShopBack has no means of manually speaking or raising a ticket to any support staff, and Everyday Market puts the blame on ShopBack.

Another issue I am suspecting is depending on the vendor, they may not have a proper integration or process for Everyday Market so the order may sit in a “pending” status even if it’s long been delivered — vendor (Wireless1) I spoke to said they have no control over it, and Everyday Market claims the same. YMMV, but I’m calling BS on this whole Everyday Market & ShopBack deal, especially given how frequently they’ve been running it. Almost like they know they won’t have to honour many deals, especially the higher ticket ones.

    • The vendor (SuperOffice) I bought from didn't even ship the item (according to the AusPost tracking they lodged), but when I enquired, they said it was damaged and transit and was returned to sender. They immediately refunded it (after 3 weeks when I asked for an update) but I wouldn't be surprised it was just a hot mess with everyone involved.

  • My account tracked $0 but partner's account still can track >$0

  • +5

Similar crappy experience with SB not tracking high value purchases. Buy at your own risk

  • I spent over $600 on everydaymarket last week, when Shopback were offering 30% cashback. It didn't track, needed to lodge a claim, the transaction has been manually added but it's still not confirmed. At this point in time I will be lodging a return within 30days for a refund. There seems to be quite a large number of customers with tracking issues.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I find the whole cashback thing from all the cashback companies quite ridiculous. What’s wrong with a discount code that’s distributed to the cashback companies databases and only works on the categories or products they want to target. Surely this could be set up.
The time messing around chasing up cashback by all parties involved just doesn’t make sense to me. Or am I missing something?

    • +6

Interest paid on those cashbacks for one. Your $15 CB might not be much, but thousands of people doing a purchase sure adds up to lots of interest over the 3-month ’tracking’ period for someone.

      • +3

Yes, that’s certainly a benefit for the cashback company if they are actually getting the money straight away and then holding onto it. One has to wonder if that offsets the staff required to deal with customer queries on missing cashback.

    • +1

Cashback companies get money from every Cashback. So if a cashback rate was advertised at say 4%, the real amount back from the store would be 5% and they keep the 1%. At least that's how it was with one I had dealings with years ago.

      • +3

Right, so when someone uses a SB specific code they'd get 4% off and shopback gets paid 1% each time the code is used.
I don't see an issue with that.

Two profitable things missing with discount codes are the third party tracking cookies and the interest as theSav mentioned but like Webluce countered, even interest might just be a wash with the amount saved on staff (and also customer satisfaction/retention).

        • +2

I and seems like many people would spend more and purchase more often if we were guaranteed the cashback (or having a discount applied instantly at purchase like you said).

Often if I'm on the fence regarding a purchase, I simply skip because I dont have it in me to fight for the cashback.

I now treat them as happy bonuses if they ever come through and not as a reduction to the price of what I purchase.

  • +5

Mine tracked at the wrong amount, after dealing with their obnoxious bot and several emails later they fixed it only to have the cashback revert to a lower amount. Not worth the risk and hassle IMO.

  • +1

Last SB + WEM I purchased a $349 item and it tracked at $111.68. Due to be confirmed by 18th Dec as per T&C. I’ll probably buy some more stuff this round ✅

  • Is this eligible for purchase online and click and collect in store?

  • I wonder if its better to buy with topcashbacks 'highest cashback' guarantee.

    • Edit: Looks like TCB has stopped cashback for everyday market today, was listed yesterday lol. They either stopped working with everyday market due to issues…or saw shopbacks offer and withdrew temporarily.

      • I suspect it’s the latter, since this is an uncapped cashback offer from ShopBack

  • There is 100% a tracking issue with Everyday Market, and I can confirm from personal experience that this has happened across both ShopBack and TopCashBack. Make sure to have screenshots of all info, and be prepared to submit a claim (so far TCB went through, ShopBack still investigating).

    • +3

My TopCashback tracked and I have $178 pending. I’m not touching a ShopBack deal for Everyday Market though.

      • -1

Just for reference, my previous shops of $100 and $200ish both tracked with shopback / everyday market

  • +2

With cashback sites being SO POPULAR I really wonder if there's a huge incentive & very little downside for the providers of these to simply erroneously claim they got no commission from the retailer, but pocket 100% of it.

If you think about it - the vast majority of users will shrug it off, not even contesting or querying it - a small % will chase it up, but if told no something changed - will again be unhappy but accept.

And who would a consumer even go to if they believed there'd been financial malpractice with this? Worst case scenario the cashback provider only gives what they promised in the first place and claims a technical error - it's VERY ripe for dodgy providers with seemingly no downside for doing so and very little transparency for users.

IMHO so many users having claims denied - makes me think there's funny business at play here.

      • Good to hear. What browser did you use? Anything specific you did?

        • safari on my ipad lol

FWIW as well place an order - was meticulous in clearing cookies, turning off adblockers etc etc ~$330 order, just got email confirming that it tracked for $99.20 cashback - received within an hour of placing the order. Which I thought was impressive, so well done ShopBack.

Took screenshots of everything so lets see how it goes from here.

    • what browser did you use?

      • +1

        • Thanks mate, I installed firefox to mate my purchases and it travked successfully. Now begins the long wait to 'confirmed'

Lol who knows, they had a bit of trouble last time haiyaaa, but at least they have the amazing TA as their rep :)

I was looking at some electronic items from BigW, prices on everyday market are jacked compared to BigW website, like over $100 difference.

  • +3

I just checked, out of curiosity and realised my order in May tracked but the cashback was rejected.. just submitted a case :(

  • What's everyone buying this time around? I got some ubiquiti gear in the last deal.

  • +1

Update: WARNING 7/10 orders all tracked correctly and now refunded LOL

    • Wtf! Is this Big W OOS?

      • yup. 2 orders havent been cancelled. unsure if its the westpac card causing issues

actually 2 from the gamesman as well, both cancelled

        • That's disappointing when they tracked correctly. Waste of time.

  • +1

Made two orders, both tracked successfully within an hour.

Funnily enough, I received a notification of $99.20 tracked towards one of my initially $0 tracked transactions on 18 Sep 2024 from the 32% cashback deal.

      You snooze you lose

      • -1

It's actually Everyday Market and ShopBack that lost because I'll buy whatever I wanted elsewhere. Vote with your wallet :) .

  • Once again, didn't track. And this was after I specifically turned off all extensions, leaving only ShopBack on (which was green/activated the whole time). Infuriating!

  • Mine only tracked at 5% and shopback support advised it would be fixed within 48 hours. After nearly a week still nothing.
