A bit more expensive than the Prime deal for C200 (1-pack $34.20, 2-pack $66) but apparently

The main difference between C210 is that it uses a 3MP lens which gives a resolution of 2304 × 1296, the C200 uses 1080p which gives a resolution of 1920 x 1080

Not sure when this ends
Cheaper to buy 1 than the 2 pack.
Remember to use your gift cards for a further % off.
if shopping with JB, stack with the $30 off $300+ Perks deal if you've got more things to buy.

  • One thing it doesn't do and I miss that, is sending email alerts.

    • +1

I get alerts via Tapo mobile app.

    • agree with chops, mobile alerts are more useful - can custom your app notification sound so you always know what it is

my only issue with tapo is a lack of native PC software to view recordings, had to install an android emulator to do this, much more convenient than browsing recordings on a small mobile screen

  • You need a subscription to use some of the nice features. Any third party software we can use to connect to the camera via rtcp?

    • Look into frigate NVR. If you'd consider self hosting. Brought my old cameras back to life with object detection and notifications via home assistant. Warning though it's a rabbit hole.

      • Thanks, self hosting is the way!

      • Are you running it with a coral stick?

        • +1

No just the integrated GPU on the N100 chip. Using Openvino and it's working great.

    • It used to work with homeassistant with a HACS integration; but it's been broken for a while now since TP-link changed the API… Supposedly unintentionally, but given how long it's been broken…

    • there is no need for an NVR, each of these tapos has it's own built in with AI detection features, just use an SD card - subscription is only required if you want to use the cloud, SD card is the answer

with an NVR you have to constantly send wireless data from ever camera to your NVR and for what? potentially worse detection, wireless network congestion and vastly more electricity consumption?

      • I think my issue was not being able to access those recordings if I'm on another network (eg outside my home) and you have to do it through the tapo app, plus any potential wear on the sd card

        • if you are recording 24/7 then yeah i agree, sd card isn't ideal

you could go for high endurance from a reputable brand, they aren't that expensive. although 5x patriots 64gb for $30 from amazon should be good for a year or so

  • Do they have Australian plug? Amazing ones come with UK one

    • +2

Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, TheGoodGuys are selling them…. so I would hazard a guess and say yes, they do come with the AU plug

    • thats because the deal was with amazon UK

any bought at an austrlaia retailer/amazon will come with AU plug

  • btw the new t72 is out, available for $69 on ebay

    3MP to 4MP

    15fps to 30fps

and the big one, more AI detection algos including pet and vehicle detection - massive feature for detecting those feral cats, the (profanity) assholes

    • Looks like its the same price on Amazon for now as well

      • quite a few retailers have sync'd their prices too

    • Its detection is not great.
