  • This or ET-4810 or ET-5150?

    • +5

Probably best to get one with a fax built in so ET can phone home.

    • I own the 4810, slow and no 2-side printing :(
      Ecotank works well though

I own the 2820. Same. Fast enough for what I need, but I wish it had two side printing.

    • @danny1213 The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase :(

  • Are these programmed to stop working in a few years and force you to buy a new one like traditional inkjet printers?

    • no, I've got an ET-2750 from 2017 and it still works great…

    Brother Colour Laser.

Outdated opinion. Brother lasers now have DRM for original cartridges.

      • obviously no one told my Brother printer. I just replaced 3 toners over the past month with after-market cartridges (haven't done yellow quite yet).

        4 Pack Brother TN-253 / TN-257 Compatible Toner Combo [1BK,1C,1M,1Y] ( C_TN253/TN25 ) $133.

        • Did you update your firmware?

          • @park it: Wouldn’t matter if you bought a new Brother, you can’t downgrade it past the stock firmware AFAIK.

            • @Whodis: There is a new firmware that was recently released. Wondering whether that firmware enables DRM.

              • @park it: Short answer is yes, the newer/newest firmwares do enable it.
Some of them also come with it off the shelf, so it depends on your luck.

            • @Whodis: but the compatible cartridge producers having been playing this cat & mouse games for a few decades.

          • @park it: firmware, if it aint broke, don't upgrade it.

            • @M00Cow: I threw out my mfw9330 because it kept disappearing from the network or taking forever to spool a simple print job off AirPrint. It was taking me longer to try and print than to actually print. Replaced it with an ET5150 and I doubt I will ever buy another Brother product again…

              • @Whodis: more brother products for me!

we have no problems, iPads, iphones, android phones & tablets, Windows PCs.

But I've always disliked inkjets, messy, expensive, and you need to keep the ink flowing.

  • Your input please: Looking for inkjet that can duplex print, has AirPrint, paper cassette (ie paper is not exposed to dust), and ideally separate colour ink tanks. Just need it occasionally but when I do it needs to work without making a fuss. Your recommendations?

      ET-5150

      • Thank you but oof, it’s quite large and expensive. Had a fairly cheap Canon Pixma for ten years that just died which ticked all my specs. Might there be something for less and more compact?

        • ET-3800 might be. [Edit] just noticed you said "occassionally." Maybe don't look at Epsons in that case.

  • talking about printers, so I'll just leave my slightly tangential experience with cannon pixma I believe it was: it had scanner which refused to scan if any one of cartridges was empty, jesus, yellow one is empty no scanning for ya pal, got rid of it and bought this one
