Is this really worth 3x Dual Boilers? Aren’t there better machines like the Lelit Mara and Rocket Appartamento at this price range?

    • Short answer, hell NO
Both the rocket and the Mara are not Dual Boilers, they are HX machines around the $2k mark.
Better off getting a dual boiler like a Lelit Bianca ~$4K but then u need another grinder for $1k.
Probably paying for all the automation, digital screen, just another area it will break.

      • HX is perfectly capable for most home users, unless you're regularly banging out coffee after coffee.

Mara's a great machine, would happily take it over a Bianca at $1500 difference.

    • ozbargain general consensus appears to be that no, it's absolutely NOT worth 3x Dual Boilers.

    • +2

Dual boiler + a decent grinder will make better coffee. There's nothing really like the oracle for the convenience. Up to you if the convenience is worth the price

      • How does a dual boiler make a better coffee?

        • It's the grinder that will make the better coffee. Priority is beans > grinder > machine

    • And where exactly are you finding these dual boilers for only $1k? 😂

Have you perhaps considered using the search and search alert functions of the forum you are on? You aren’t on OzRRP mate.

lol have you? Prices have moved on mate…

    third wave specialty coffee

damn it. I missed the first two.

  • +2

I got JB to beat this and came down to $3050.

  • Seems a hefty premium for a few nice to haves over the normal Oracle.

  • $3k for a Chinese made espresso machine ? Yeh nahh maybe forBYDs and Expengs but I'll stick to Italian espresso for now ;) this is $1k less and far better quality https://www.lelit.com/product/marax-pl62x/

    • +9

Ah yes the Italians, famously known for great electric products /s

    • Where did Italians randomly get a reputation for well-built appliances? That's never been a thing as far as I know. Is it just because they're European? Pretty sure that's never been a thing either

      • I've never seen a Chinese made espresso machine on par with an Italian one in terms of build quality.

    • +1

Oracle Jet is a completely different machine. Doesn't have the boilers anymore.

      • Opps my mistake. Misread this as the oracle touch.

  • +3

Good Guys commercial has it for $2786 if you have access. I got one recently, and it has been really convenient to make a good coffee every morning without too much effort.

  • +2

Crazy price for a Breville. Investigate better options and a grinder.

    • can't believe they came in at this price point, way above the outgoing oracle.

that said, it does have an all new grinder, since breville acquired baratza that was to be expected eventually

      • +2

At this price point I want a separate grinder.

  • +2

I have the Barista Pro which also uses thermojet

this oracle is not worth $3k
way too much premium into the grinder, touch screen and wifi firmware update

If you're looking at this, the Touch Impress is probably a much more sensible / cheaper machine. The workflow, quality and throughput is pretty much the same, the price difference is huge; and keep in mind that all of these machines are relatively disposable compared to other more expensive espresso machines - due to their ease-of-use forward design relying heavily on modern electronics they have a life of about 10-15 years, whereas other more expensive Italian machines will last 20-40. Having used both an Oracle and a Touch Impress, the biggest practical difference is the zero warm-up time on the Touch Impress, which you don't get on the Oracle's boilers. The Touch Impress outputs the first coffee much quicker and each subsequent milk coffee slightly slower. If you expect to have to make many more than 3 coffees at a time regularly, the Oracle may be worth it; but be aware it will be slower and less convenient to grab 1/2 coffees.

    • Had a touch impress, sluggish display, and the tamp function was absolutely useless. The milk frother worked OK though.

  • IMO this is not an upgrade to regular Oracle as there is only one heater hence you cannot brew and steam at the same time.
