Hardly goes on sale but this is by far one of my favourites :)
The honey almond nougat is out of this world, shelves were almost empty when I noticed they were on sale.

The flavours are different but the Choco Changer blocks at Aldi are very similar and possibly made by the same company and are only $3.99 for 150g.
Flavours or the actual chocolate? This is actually a decent quality chocolate for the money (unlike Cadbury and Lindts)
What is the actual similarity?
https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/eat/aldi-partners-wit…
Looks like Aldi actually partnered with them, so the chocolate should be identical. I've bought one of each from Aldi, and they are indeed excellent chocolates.
wtf!? I'll check it out thanks
Another triumph for Australian "News" reporting.
"The supermarket giant has unveiled an incredible new product that costs just $4 and is the first of its kind in Australia."
Not written by Aldi PR at all…… Journalistic integrity at it's best.
Should at least be a message somewhere that makes it very clear that Aldi has paid for this particular 'News' article.
@EspressoDan: Wish I could +, it's disheartening to see so many articles that are clearly just shilling supermarket products for no reason. It's just become advertising with the occasional promotion of divisive social issues
Flavours not flavour, i.e Aldi has Milk Honeycomb Nougat instead of Honey Almond Nougat.
I haven’t done a side by side taste test but going from memory the chocolate is very similar tasting.
Both are made in Belgium and both use ethically sourced cocoa. Packaging and style of the block, I.e. no standard rows is also similar.I like Cadbury… honestly to me Cadbury milk chocolate tastes better. It’s a good balance between the super American taste and the euro choc taste imho.
But have you tried Whittakers? We were instantly converted.
decent quality chocolate for the money (unlike Cadbury and Lindts)
why?
I think one of the issues i have with the aldi one is the height/thickness is not the same. packaging is VERY similar
Ask Tony
He is lonely as Tony is the only one concerned about providing cocoa farmers a fair price.
Ran out of paloney
I like the taste but the blocks are annoying to break I find -because they're not set into squares
The blocks are made this way to remind you the money is not fairly distributed in the cocoa supply chain. Where the farmers get the least!
This ethical chocolate is guilt inducing in more ways than one
Maybe they should give the famers more money
Eat the whole thing without breaking it because you're chocolonely and need comfort food.
They're also in the shape of various Afrcian counteries showing the origin of the ingredients.
You break the choc block before you eat it?!!
This or Whittaker’s?
Whittaker’s. Waited years to try this when it went on special not long ago. Was very dissapointed.
Not all flavours are as good though - I tried the purple one, did not like it. lols
Hard agree. Whittakers is much better, was extremely underwhelmed by this, especially for the price.
Tony is decent taste and great ethical sourcing.
Whittakers is the opposite - great taste / decent ethical sourcing.
Will pick up a block at Aldi, but waiting to stock up on Whittakers with the colesworth monthly 10% off when its on a steep discount.
I would second that opinion. Although Whittakers seems more processed. So it depends what kind of mouth feel are you after. I would say Tony's is closer to artisan chocolates but I love the taste of Whittakers
Both are good imo - they’re my top 2 supermarket chocolate brands
Don't like all Whittaker's flavours. But my God that Hazella takes number one chocolate in our household.
Good ethically sourced and made chocolate as far as I'm aware
Nothing to do with tiktok
If you're a famous brand can you really claim to have nothing to do with tiktok?
honestly they probably can.
i'm not even sure how they became so popular. I bought some in Holland back in '22 having never heard of it. coming back from Holidays i brought heaps back for the fam only to find out a couple weeks later my mum found it in Coles and was asking if i ever actually left Australia.
@TexasVujicic: A Tiktokor would review their dentist for views. So someones first exposure of this brand might be watching tiktok and so that's all I really meant.
Would be good to add size 180g to title, the cost by itself doesn't matter without a comparative size.
The salted caramel one is divine brown.
Even at these discount prices I can't afford to keep my flabby dad bod
Fret not, there’s always KFC
I've found TK Maxx also sells this for around this price, personally it was good but not worth the money.
I’ve found ALDI German made chocolate to be the best
Tastes and feels like the good old days. Not like sad shrinkflation stuff Cadbury thinks they can charge $7 for.
Generally prefer Whittaker's but that Tony's milk choc chip cookie flavour is so good
Tried the honey almond nougat which was on clearance at my local WW for $2 something. Had maybe a dozen or so left, got one to try. Found it far too sweet for my liking, but I'm one of those crazy people like like 80-95% cocoa.
I did enjoy reading the little blurb on the packaging. I can see the appeal, but not my cup of tea.
wanna be my slave?
never had a nice bar
Nice chocolate, only some flavours though, some are terrible and can’t get through a quarter of it before I chuck it. Also the annoying part is the blocks, i wish they would have just standard square blocks like all other chocolate blocks.
Highly recommend the red block and the green block.
The reason for the block structure is to represent inequality amongst the cocoa supply chain. Feel free to google this! I saw a cool doco on it.
Link to the doco that I watched which I thought was insightful into the brand:
Not sure that because you don’t like some flavours is worthy of a neg.
No you’re right, it’s not. I actually didn’t notice that I negged the deal.
all I can see is "colon" lol
has been cheaper, not a big savings IMO
It's fine, but not exactly mind-blowing, and I'd struggle to pick this out from a blind taste test. Taste-wise, it's definitely not worth 4x as much as a similar bar that's on sale every other day. Buy if you're into conscious consumption or like the packaging.
shelves were almost empty when I noticed
Coles have rainchecks. When they've sold out of something to that's on special, go to the service counter and ask for a raincheck on that product. That way you can purchase after they have restocked, at the on-special price, up to 4 week later.
At the service counter they will ask how many you want to buy, so think about that while heading to the service counter.
Whittakers much better than this have tried both
after seeing this i bought the 2 milk flavours from ALDI, amazing tasting chocolate (crunchy and tasty unlike Shitty cadingleberry), id rate it 2nd after Whitakers. at 4 dollars i think its the go to unless Whitakers is on sale, Whitakers at full price of 8 dollars id get this over Whitakers,
Whitakers is the better tasting chocolate but its not twice better so its not worth paying double for, if Whitakers was on sale id pick it over this, also only 2 milk flavours is a bit limiting id like to see more flavours
wow
