      Jack off jack on

    • The sale price of these eggs is a cheaper unit price compared to lindt blocks currently on sale at ww. Usually blocks have a significantly cheaper unit price.

    • Prices have gone up, duh.

What was the rrp last year just curiously?

Nah there defiantly just seeing how much they can rip off there customers.

Lindt Lindor Assorted Chocolate Cornet is $17 in this "50%" sale but only as recent as August 2024, it was $11. Average "retail" price was $26 though usually on sale for about $13.

It jumped to $34 only last month for like a week.

Woolworths Group strategy this Easter was to quadruple the price, and offer half price at double the usual price.

Just a reminder though that cocoa prices are through the roof which is why the prices are surprising. Everything chocolate is skyrocketing everywhere. I saw the other day that the RRP for Lindt Excellence blocks is now something like $8.50, compared to about $6 mid-last year. So this time round it's not the familiar price-gouging but the actual raw materials cost that has gone nuts. (And remember, Easter eggs are always stupidly expensive, so they're the worst way to judge what a "reasonable" price is!)

      After Easter cocoa prices plummet

    • Gone nuts? I thought it was a bean!

    • Used to purchase at least 2x 70% block per week. Now only buy a few when they are 50% off.

Gone are the days of $2 or $2.50 regular sales.

Just a reminder that if the price of cocoa goes down, the RRP will 100% stay the same

      • Yeah, let's circle back to this thread in about two years' time and see how bad things remain!

      • If we look at the prices today, they are similar to the prices before the massive spike back in Nov. So logically after Easter, if the RRP doesn't drop then we know for sure it's price gouging season.

    • I remember seeing plenty of news articles around 3 years ago predicting doom around cocoa prices due to Enviromental issues in growing regions. I guess this is that?
