      Not my department, but I would have to guess it's the quick easy workaround way of implementing a pick up only offer here without completely baring regular customers from ordering this config for delivery at the regular price…

      Even without the cash back offer it's cheaper than you can build it yourself with big fat steam gift card to boot and free game. A pretty sweet offer even if it doesn't quiet meet the 'bargain' standards of OZB. Without getting in to how the sausage is made too much but from what I've overheard in the office, the stock allocated to these deals are a portion of regular inventory written down with marketing funds. The written down inventory gets allocated to deal-eligible orders while if a non-eligible delivery order comes through, the non-written down inventory can be allocated to fulfill the order and it doesn't come out of the 'deal' quantity.

      Would technically make you ineligible for the steam gift card promo.. so while we could most likely offer it, we couldn't guarantee you'd be able to redeem the promo from MSI afterward.

      To maintain your promo eligibility with MSI, we'd recommend sticking with the assembled system, and just swapping out the components afterward. In terms of warranty, even if you pulled the entire system apart of used each component separately in 8 different PCs… we'd still cover everything on a per component basis for the term of the manufacturers stated warranty period.

              @fatty99: I believe so! They should be all controllable via the MSI Center app. I believe it uses a background process in Windows to run the rgb light settings so each time the PC is turned on, the RGB lights will come on until Windows finishes loading, the process kicks in and all your previous settings take effect.

    I've been looking to upgrade from a much older system for some time now, and had more or less decided that I'd do it next year to coincide with a couple of games releasing (idea being that there might be some better kit available in this kind of price range by then).

    Buuuuut this is a good deal, particularly with that steam credit, and my lizard brain is firing up.

    So. If I were to modify this to have the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 4080 Super, and 850W PSU, how long do you reckon that would keep up with higher end quality at good frame rates (90+ where possible, but at least a stable 60).

    Not worried about 4K - I've only just upgraded to a 3440x1440 widescreen and won't be changing that for some time!

      Ignoring the ridiculously over the top RTX4090, the 7800X3D / 4080 Super is pretty much the top of the line gaming CPU/GPU pairing going right now. We'd expect it to be a very very long time before they start to struggle with new games at higher frame rates. Especially with tech like DLSS becoming the norm.

      Of course your mileage will vary from game to game and it's impossible to predict the future, but if the past is anything to go by the GTX1080 Ti is 7.5 years old, was the top of the line offering at the time ignoring the 'Titan' cards and still kicking out respectable frame rates in a lot of most popular games of 2024. GN did a pretty neat re-cap video and article earlier in the year covering it.

        I'm super out of the loop when it comes to modern hardware and it's hard to get up to speed!

        I'm still running a 1080(not ti) & i7 6700K, and even that has held up amazingly well for an almost 8.5yr old system :D

      Just checked in with our finance team and the first batch of cash back refunds should have been processed yesterday. More going out today, and there's still a few customers who have yet to collect their order and fill out the cashback forms so the last batch will hopefully be processed early next week.

      I think the recent bank outages earlier in the week delayed the initial processing of the first batch. Apologies to anyone affected. If you have filled out a cash back form on pick up last week you should definitely be receiving the funds in the next 24 hours if you haven't already!
