I wasn't going to buy steak this week but this post motivated me to do so. I've no problem in eating something that was bred specifically to be killed and eaten. If we weren't eating them the animals which are slaughtered would have never existed. It's like planting crops.

*This message bought to you by the meat association. Meat. Glorious meat.

Typical vegetarian/vegan, warped view on reality whilst trying to force your view onto others.

Fair enough if you don't want to eat meat, people can respect that. How about you respect other peoples choice, the majority of Australians eat meat so go have a whinge on the Peta forums if you want someone to agree with you.

I'm gonna ask a question and please don't hate on me, I LOVE meat. But I thought about the scenario you put out about something being bred to specifically be eaten. What if humans were bred to be eaten, why is it okay to eat a cow but not a human? Being serious here. Hope I don't offend anyone (if somehow). Does the intelligence of a creature dictate what we can and can't eat?

        • I believe if Dr. Hannibal Lecter could visit those who make a distinction, he might get to the bottom of it. Although there are real cannibals, they just probably would not want to advertise their habit.

This is a tough question to answer.

Humans are brought up into cultures, which dictate how they should act, what they should believe and what they should eat etc.

Most cultures don't eat dogs or horses, and ours eats pigs, which can actually be more intelligent than dogs. Cannibalistic cultures, however would see eating humans as "OK".

We're also greatly shielded from the "production" of meat because we're not raising and killing the animals ourselves. I think a lot more people would be vegetarian or vegan if they actually looked at how the animals are treated and killed before they end up on their plate. A lot of people don't even want to know how the animals ended up on their plate, because they like eating meat and don't want to feel bad about it.

We cannot communicate with other animals on the same level that we can with humans and we cannot fully understand their wants. Humans can talk, and fully express their feelings to us and have great imaginations and dreams, and as with most species, we do not naturally feel like eating our own kind. However, all animals wish to be free from pain and have instincts. Cows have strong maternal instincts, as do pigs, and as do many other animals (humans included, obviously).

Sadly, when people (E.g. the Jews who lived during the holocaust, and slaves) are seen as "less than human", they're often exploited. People are often selfish and feel that it is their right to dominate and exploit that which is different to them.

        • If we were bred to be eaten we've done pretty well for ourselves. What have the cows done? Guess they need another couple of million years.

that is the worst justification for any behaviour I've ever heard. just because something has been bred/bought/produced for a certain purpose, doesn't mean using it for that purpose is the right thing to do.

that's like saying we should all go out and buy handguns and use them because they were made specifically to shoot and kill people

thanks for your lengthy reply :) have to totally agree with you especially that last bit

Except cooking a steak isn't animal cruelty.

    • the less dispatched to overseas the more terminated locally and for the bbq. And software and/or cooking are not direct or logical comparisons.

From some of the comments above, this sticker seems to be making people angry, sad, defensive, offensive, emotional… A perfectly good reason not to want to have it on my car. I don't want people getting excited and expressing their point of view about it onto my car.

  • Some people are just replying with their addresses….

I'm a meat-eater, but find the culture among other meat-eaters full of double-standards. A lot are disgusted at cultures that eat meat like dogs / cats, etc.. they're all animals.. just because you find some cuter or have a connection to some of them… some cultures would never eat a pig or a cow.

If you roll your eyes at people who advertise that they're vegan / vegetarian, then you should probably avoid doing the exact same thing.
