  • Free is free, I'll give it ago and see what it's all about. Thanks

  • Going by posts in their forums, that app store is another one that is restricted to US residents only.

I uninstalled the Intel AppUp thing…Angry Birds doesn't run without it it seems.

So you have to keep that Intel thing installed to play the games/apps.

The app could have been done a lot better. It's quite inefficient in that it uses cURL, OpenSSL, Qt and some other libraries. The non-standard frame is also annoying. To be honest, I would rather download cracked games than install crap-ware to play games for free. Also, it's not very nice having AppUpSM center, Origin, Green Man Gaming, Steam, and other managers installed at the same time. In terms of free to play games, installing browser plugins/components also seems unnecessary and unreliable and annoying.

Anyway, I just posted the deal because I knew that some people may benefit. :)

Intel Appup is supposed to be sort of a competitor against the Apple App Store (and also an "app market" environment through which developers can make money through sales of DRM'ed software)

I don't really see it getting off the ground though — most of the paid apps on there have much better free alternatives, and the vast majority of them are fairly basic in terms of function.

Besides, Microsoft is already integrating the App store in Windows 8.

This is beginning to get painful. I have Steam, Origin, GFWL, probably Greenmangaming soon, now there's yet another app store with associated launcher?
