No point living it the past
And that's a different phone anyway.
The 8a is worse than the 8?
@gusk12: The 8 is better than 8a
@gusk12: The 8a is the newer "budget" version, but differences are tiny. I do like that a replacement screen for the 8a cost half as much as for the 8. (both 120Hz OLED 1080x2400)
@gusk12: not sure why i got negged for stating facts. The 8 is obviously better. weird.
@gusk12: You were not stating facts, you were asking question
@PrinceOfWhales: My apologies, I was not meaning that. Was trying to tell him that the 8 is better.
And that's a different phone anyway.
Yes, The 8 is a better phone than this: better camera (DXO Mark ranking 18 vs 41), faster charging (27W/18W wired/wireless vs 18W/7.5W), Better WiFi (7 vs 6E), better IP rating, better screen etc..
Fair enough, still doesn't mean this isn't a great deal…
Wasn't there an amazing deal at launch when you traded in an old pixel?
I think I should've jumped on that deal.
@TEER3X: It was store credit or a gift card from memory so locked in spend was more. Not that great deal if you're trying to be frugal.
@Trippelsewe: Yeah I think $200 JB gift card.
Regardless of whether it's the right phone , I agree 💯….
Agreed, this was a much better deal
Might be worth while adding 15% student code and 10% google credit on selected one plans.
15% off student didn’t work. Tested it and it removed the $649 discount and discounting at the RRP instead
how do you get the 10 percent on google one? I couldn't see that anywhere?
If you subscribe to the big 2TB Google One Plan, you get 10% in store credit back.
Google also sent around a 10% discount code some days ago.
I would wait a bit, sometimes it takes a bit off time until the studentbeans/unidays code works on top. I remembe this from the launch offer of the 8a or the Tablet, that initially it didn't accept the discount.
In any case, one can only apply one discount code per order.
cheers for that, have the lower tier of google one so not applicable
@madseason: You just have to upgrade your plan for 1 month. You get the credit within 2 days of your receiving your phone, then downgrade again. It works if you are on month to month.
@jsb: @jsb legend, good thinking!
Both 15% and 10% code will wipe the $200 discount off. Sad.
If you are a Google One member, you do get the credits though.
We aren't all poor students
Are we able to use Google Store gift card to buy?
Nexus 4 used to be $399.
Still have mine with a cracked screen and a sparkly back, still love it lol
A house used to be $300k.
A house is not a phone
Better to get the 8
From recent experience a friend of mine I would never buy from the Google Store, it is EXTREMELY difficult and massively time consuming to deal with them if the phone has a problem. She asked me to help her with the process.
Finally got them to send a replacement but they made her give them a refundable credit card payment for the full RRP before they would send it. Received a refurbished one. It had exactly the same fault as her's. The contact she was dealing with to get the replacement was just a courier so were no help trying to sort this out. She's still trying to sort it, the courier is pressuring her to pick up a returning phone and she's concerned her card will be charged at full price for a refurb that doesn't work. I said go to ACC or ombudsman, not sure where its at currently.
Ive only had to deal with them once in the past and it was back in the Pixel 4 days, but I had great support. This is surprising to me.
pricebeat from officeworks then?
Are the photos OK from this? I read they pixelate, eh?
Where on earth did you read this? Even a bad phone camera will not result in pixelated photos.
And no, the Pixel 8a camera is one of its strengths. It bats well above its weight in that category.
