They don’t always price match. I have tried many times. Couple times they did it but otherwise they said they would not.

Fantastic price. Just got a second hand X1700H, but new updated X1800H at a few hundred bucks more would have been tempting!

update: Just received delivery. Now time to shop for some speakers. Any recommendation for front and center speakers? Currently looking at Polk Signature Elite ES15 for front, ES30 for center and Polk HTS10 Subwoofer. Will run 3.1 until i can afford more speakers.

Very good choices. Another alternative to the HTS10 which is now discontinued, is the new Signature Elite ES10 Sub

i went with Q Acoustics Q3030i + Q3090Ci for this same AV unit.

      • Decently priced speakers. How's the sound quality? Thanks for the share.

im happy with them, mainly used for movies/gaming.
i was holding out for Kef Q150s to go on sale but gave up waiting. you might get lucky with marketplace if you dont mind 2nd hand. there wasnt any around me when i looked but a lot going elsewhere.

  • Are banana pins recommended for speakers?

    • Yeah, i prefer them than screwing loose wires, Look nice as well.

    • You can get away with not using banana plugs, it won't change the sound but I definitely recommend it for ease of use.

If you don't use banana plugs sodder the ends of your cables.

    Worth noting

7.2 or 5.2.2 set up with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

You'd assume it could be used for Dolby Atmos, and thankfully it can.
Which means 5 surrounds, 2 subs, and 2 ceiling speakers.

Atmos can be either cut and mounted into the ceiling, or sound bounced off of roof by using "Atmos Enabled" speakers that are angled sitting on top of front tower speakers.

It's worth noting that upfiring speakers that bounce of the ceiling are vastly inferior to correctly placed overheard speakers.

      • Can you provide a link to a guide or reference for correctly placing in-ceiling speakers? I'm planning to go that route and want to set it up well. Thanks.

Yeap I spent some time mixing my own dolby atmos test mixes going between my in-ceiling and a pair of upward firing.
For some sounds, like wind, the up firing were better as they diffused the sound to a wider soundstage above me.
But for everything else ceiling speakers were much better.
Some sounds didn't even sound like they came from the ceiling with the reflection type.

        • In my Q990D, near as I can tell the ceiling speakers just raise the stage to "mid tv" or "slightly louder front", with no directional feeling. I'm going to play with angling it a bit though. Still a worthy effect, but not "overhead".

@Ademos: Yeah I found the same with the Yamaha X50A soundbar, lifts most sounds up to around the top of my TV's placement.
With white noise/wind being somewhere from above, so limited overall.

Cutting speakers into a roof is commitment haha but I can't go back.
Especially for gaming, Atmos enabled games are phenomenal.
I had to sell Tomb Raider as the creepy noises in the trees above were too much for me lol, I play games to relax!

Looking for somthing with 4 Atmos ceiling support.

  • Good little receiver. works well in a 7.1.2 setup.

I have it in a medium size room and just caters for it. Does not have enough nuts for more than medium.

  • The website now says, "This product has either been removed or is no longer available for sale."

  • Sold out.

  • Seems to be back on the main site but not commercial anymore? :(

  • I sent TGG Commercial an email and got an order placed at my store, even though the website said not available.
I got it home and found that I cannot have Zone 2 and the two Atmos speakers connected/running simultaneously. I should have checked this first :(
So, now I'm after something with similar features but with 9 discrete speaker outs: standard 5.1 (or .2 but I'll use 1), 2 x Atmos ceiling speakers AND separate Zone 2 speaker outs (preferably speakers so I don't need another amplifier) for the existing speakers in the other part of the house.

Can anyone recommend something that ticks these boxes? Thanks.

can you please share the email so i can follow the same 🙏🏽

  • Is this confirmed not on the store anymore? Just saw the repost of joining TGG commercial via g'day rewards and am after this amplifier but if it's not available then I won't fork out for the rewards membership to access.

    • I’ve just logged in to check and can confirm it’s no longer on the Good guys commercial site.

      • Bugger, thanks very much for checking for me though! Appreciate you.
