Rado Captain Cook 37mm Women's Watch $2,047.20 (Was $3,650) Delivered @ David Jones

130

Great price for a great woman's watch. I've been considering getting this watch for my wife but I already bought her a birthday present this year, otherwise I'd definitely have bought it at this price!

Used prices for this watch in chrono24 and eBay are easily more than $2.5k so I think this is a very good deal for brand new.

How do you spend $2k without your wife noticing before her birthday?

      Separate credit card :)

  • Hey, Buddy. It's high inflation, high living costs people say. There are so many good looking Lady's watches out there with cheaper price. Maybe you want to consider these:

NOTE: I am not affiliated. I know the store is one of ozb favourites as the prices are quite cheap or could be the cheapest for many certain watches.

I can see from the list above, there are good looking watches for women with great bargain.

Definitely, Seiko, Citizen and Bulova have great watches too. I was just looking for something a bit more special as it's a landmark birthday. It's not an every year kind of purchase for sure!

Just thought I'd post this deal as I was eyeing a few things for her birthday present and this watch was one of them. I didn't end up getting it as it was too expensive but I'd have strongly considered it and most likely ended up buying it if it was available at this price.

So, you think it was too expensive. Maybe get the Citizen/Seiko/Bulova instead. Look at the options, choose really good looking one maybe.

No ones impressed by Japanese watches unless it’s a grand seiko

          • @mlburnian: LOL. It's what you think. So many people in the world love many things related with Japan whether Japanese music, manga, anime, food, etc. Even many Australian love these too. That's why so many Japanese restaurants here. Overtourism in Japan. You live in Melbourne. I used to live in Melbourne. During Japanese festival and anime events etc. in MCEC, usually a lot of people come include cosplayers (even non Asians). Japanese festival in Federation Square had huge number of people when I was there.

In general, Japanese watches are created more clean than Swiss watches if you understand. Which women especially wife doesn't like good looking watch, especially as a gift?

Do you know the history of the Quartz crisis? Japanese watches won over Swiss and American watches with the higher accuracy from Quartz. I don't like automatic movement because of higher inaccuracy in general. Less hassle with solar power watch and better accuracy too.

            Quartz Crisis:
"It caused a significant decline of the Swiss watchmaking industry, which chose to remain focused on traditional mechanical watches, while the majority of the world's watch production shifted to Japanese companies such as Seiko, Citizen and Casio which embraced the new electronic technology."

            Read the history:

@neoleo: Mate I am not reading all that, I was talking about watches not sushi or Toyota. If you are happy with a Toyota, sure, rock that seiko

              • @mlburnian: I didn't neg you at all. But Toyota is reliable if you ask many people. Even Holden cannot compete with Toyota, lol. I don't have Seiko yet, but I have Citizen solar powered watch.

            • @neoleo:

              higher accuracy from Quartz

This is like the vinyl - digital music separation. Quartz (digital) is uncompromisingly better than mechanical (vinyl) at timekeeping (HiFi source) but people still may want the latter for other reasons. Let's just not get started on smoother time (warmer sound).

            • @neoleo: I have a few Seiko watches at varying price points from around $300, $700 and $1.8k (RRP, not sold price) and you get what you pay for to some extent. The gap in quality between the cheaper one to the more expensive ones is huge. You probably have to spend at least $1.5k to get a Seiko watch that offers similar level of quality to the Rado Captain Cook. Still cheaper, but at that price point you can start cross shopping with decent Swiss watches.

          • @mlburnian: Cool people couldn’t care less what others think.

    • Sorry but those are not comparable.

  • That's a great looking watch.

  • Insufficient qty - should be in forums.
