      • Plenty of accessories for the MG4 being a Chinese car just search in Aliexpress,…

        "mg4 car accessories"

  • Ive been taking screen shots of the MG4 special deals on carsales.com.au hopefully to use in future, noticed too specials are more for the Excite 51

Hopefully this will be the trend in future with EV vehicles dropping dramatically in price lolz 😆

    Go MG4 👍👏😆

  • Anyone want to order Frunk storage?

    https://www.frunk.at/en/produkt/mg4-electric-frunk-set-kopie…

Can do it together to save shipping ( I am in WA)

    • Looked at that but too expensive

      • that's why sharing shipping to reduce the price. hopefully down to $200 each if 3-4 people?

        • Ill get back to you when i eventually own a MG4, please dont hold your breath as im sadly poor

Hard to tell from photos how good this is as a frunk too?

          • @Italkdigital: I haven't picked up the car yet…try to get people to group together and buy to save…. There are lot of people recently purchased vehicles. Just don't know how to get people interested in it
            Are you inWA?>

  • Just had a MG4 dealer call me as i was enquiring obvisously about this big MG4 sale

Something I didnt know this dealer informed me, everytime someone enquires on carsales.com.au, hitting SMS or Message button enquiry, the dealer gets charge $69.95 + GST per pop

    Food for thought 🤔

How do you know if a dealer is lying? his lips are moving. These guys are slime bags will tell you whatever suits their agenda at the time.

        • Sucks for them I guess.

      • Doubt dealer would lie about that especially when dealer is hours away from Melbourne, anyway his grief was i wasnt a serious buyer which i wasnt and i agree with him $70 ish just to message or sms (per pop) is a rip off on carsales part, next time ill just google the dealership and call them directly, these highway robbbery costs actually effects the final costs of vehicles to potential buyers, mind you these country dealerships are small time dealers

Anyway my 2 cents, seems true by the above weblink anyway

Edit: I'm guessing why BYD doesn't use carsales lolz

        • Or if you have a poor dealer experience, just get all your friends to sms them through carsales

If true, that is absolutely insane. For every 'Is this car still available?' they pay $77? New car margins are wafer thin. They'll lose money in no time.

    • Yeah no point trying to check into "what it costs" a business. In most cases a front line employee wouldn't know or gets told something in the companies interest.

  • Which Type 2 Charger cable and home charger are people using/going to be using?

    • Comes with a charger, will just use that.

  • For 2024 Essence 64, I was quoted 41K earlier today.
Can anyone confirm if that is a good price?

    • +1

Nope $38,490 drive away before additional paint cost. I see one in WA $36k drive away in white with less than 2k odometer.

    • I can't comment on MY24. Which state? Are you intent on buying one or testing the market?
In Qld MY23 White $37300 drive away is possible. I think even $36800 DA is possible, if you are happy with that price go to dealer, sit down ready to buy on the spot.

  • I’m keen to leave a deposit today but if my finance is declined, do I lose that $500 deposit?

That’s the only thing putting me off

    • Deposit was $1000 for us. Non refundable.

    • +1

I put down a $500 deposit, specifically advised them I was leasing so it had to be refundable.

Anyone want to order frunk for MG4 together?
    https://www.frunk.at/en/produkt/mg4-electric-frunk-set-kopie…

Share together may save $50-60 for shipping~

    • Has it been properly engineered and does not affect the cars cooling, heat extraction, etc?

  • +1

Apparently the Excite is OOS until the next carrier arrives. I already put a deposit down last week.

    • Congrats and happy electric motoring

    • What time-frame did they say?

      • +1

Said in-stock VIN has been allocated, less than 2 weeks.

        • May I ask where are you at?
          Which dealer was it?

        • I should have asked - do you mean interstate or ship coming in from overseas?

          • +1

@King Tightarse: Same state, holding yard

            • @UltimateAI: If you are at NSW, which is different to WA or VIC and you get more stocks and dealerships over there.
They give free colour, charger and carpet.

              • @Panpanw: Yes, NSW, they all come with a charger, wasn't able to negotiate for the free wall charger, colour or carpet. I did try though, was even looking for more discounts if I purchased a second car.
                Paid $700 for Metalic Paint.
Allegedly many colours were already allegedly out of stock. Anyway I am happy with the price, I have put under a novated lease.

                • @UltimateAI: I am in WA…..Dealer doesn't care and you need to beg them for floor mat.

I checked Novated Lease and one year later, the residual value is about 22.Xk to pay off for example. Which I think it is very expensive.

                  • @Panpanw: With a depreciating asset like a car that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

    • Thought you have to pay and license before 31/10?
      Dealer said that….Although I don't believe them.
Asked them for next shipment, they said nothing at the moment/ unknown

      • That is my understanding also, that the next shipment will miss this deal.

      • Chatted to a dealer today, next ship arrives next month but so long as contract is signed you lock in the deal price.

    • Heard the same thing that pooled stock in Vic for the excite 51 has all been cleared too.

  • Anyone thought about put flexible solar panel on roof?

    • Like my friend big solar panel on his roof racks lolz, didn't know there were flexible solar panels i guess too remove when needed, by chance have any weblinks of any?

      • I mean solar panel on car roof…..

        • What do you think it will achieve? A flexible panel the size of the roof will generate only a tiny amount of electricity each day, akin to putting only a single solar panel on the roof of your house.

          • @klaw81: Nothing expecting much electricity from sun, better than nothing.
also extra shading for the car

            • @Panpanw:

              better than nothing

If a solar panel is seamlessly integrated into the car and doesn't interfere with aerodynamics or add significant weight, I agree it can't do any harm. I actually quite like the idea of a solar panel that delivers sufficient power to continuously ventilate the cabin and prevent heat build-up. That concept has real merit in certain parts of the world, Australia included.

An aftermarket fitment that has no integration with the car's electronics or BMS, that could potentially reduce efficiency through added wind resistance and could also damage paintwork etc seems like a truly bad idea. It has very little potential for genuine enhancement.

Many EVs already do this, on demand, but they use the 12V battery as the power source. You simply hop into the App and turn on climate control a few minutes before you head to the car - and when you arrive at the vehicle, it's nice and cool. Then the 12V battery recharges from the main power battery as soon as you start to drive.

        • Yes will only charge a car size lithium battery certainly not charge the EV, battery to run a fridge or something like that

          But wishful thinking 🤔

          • +2

@Panpanw: In theory, that panel could charge your battery enough to drive about 6km if you left the car in the sun all day during summer. In practice, inefficiencies would make it more like 4km.

Considering the amount of time and effort and the complexity of the modifications required to make it work well, I would strongly suggest it's not worth it under normal circumstances.

  • Wot happens now? Older dad seems set on buying this or similar. Budget is 26k upped to 30k and wants an electric or hybrid.

    • For investment figure out costs of your ICE car against an EV (Better savings then Hybrid), comes down to more kms more savings over using petrol, bonus if one has solar on roof, do the maths can save $5k over a year, times 7 years (warranty length) equates to $30k, cheaper running costs for EV's, again more driving more savings, simple as that

  • Anyone add front parking sensors with dealer (mine quoted $900) and tint ($400) , is it required and what was the cost ?

    • Front sensors must be aftermarket?

Tint is cheap (What material?) Pick Ceramic tinting if you can. Also Suntek or 3M brands..

Surprise, surprise! Both mentions of the end of offer are now October 31. Could the OP now change the expiry date? The original 30 Sept end of offer was pretty clearly an error - there are many errors on the mgmotor website.

  • +1

Just be aware the dealers can be deceiving, came across dealers wanting to charge extra for MY24 but current deal is on both. Really off putting dealing with these people..

    • I contacted several Sydney dealers, all of whom said October 31 right from the start.

      • Guess they had the right info or were being honest to not push people into buying asap

  • +1

Still available in Qld. Signed the papers this morning. Thanks OP and commenters

    • What did you pay - did you get any extras?

      • +2

Ticket price, no extras. I'm no negotiator. Still happy.

    • Where about? (Roughly)

      • +1

        Darling Downs

        • Is it My23 or My24 model?

  • +1

Signed contract on one today also. MG Moorooka in Brisbane. Got floor mats thrown in. Sales guy said promo goes till Oct 31st. Also told me that after promo ends pricing will go up to around $35000 not back to old price.

    • Thanks for the new clarification. I have updated the deal. Happy electric motoring.

    • That's exactly what my dealer told me in Vic. Price will got to $35k after the sale. Also got mats included.

  • +1

Deal is still ongoing. Happy electric motoring everyone.

  • Anyone already collected their recent orders ? I called my dealer today and the sales guy said it’s still on the way . They don’t have confirmed date either when it is arriving.

    • I've heard a large number of people have. Depending on the colour and general stock availably, it seems like large numbers have been reserved from stock on incoming ships.

    • Mine is in the dealer showroom, waiting on my weather strips 😭.

  • +1

did anybody manage to get the wall charger/matts thrown in the sydney area?

  • +5

Picked mine up today. Orange. Free mats. Bottle of wine. Passed on the giant bow.

    • congrats and happy electric motoring

  • Anyone want to get Frunk?

  • +7

Slight issue: undertray issue (slight gap) issued a tsb. suggestion is new buyers get sales to agree to get it fixed:

If you’re buying a new MG4 make sure you insist that the sales person agrees by email (so there is a record) that they will check the undertray of your car during pre delivery checks and fix it as per AS-TEC-02112023-01 if there is an area that looks: https://www.bhatt.id.au/blog/before-after-photos-mg4-undertr… third pic

    • Wonder if the MY24 has this issue fixed already or installed from factory?

      • tsb number is there so you can confirm. can also check and see if you have the upgraded bracket and three bolts.

  • Still available at MG Springwood QLD

  • I think it’s $32990 now, as I called them just now.

    • +1

      $32990 from 1st Nov

      • Called 3 MG in WA on 12th Oct, all $32990. Let’s me know if anyone is still selling $30990

        • The website clearly shows the price is $30,990 until October 30th.
How can they quote next months price?

    • Check carsales, seem like most are still in the discounted price

      • +1

yup, still seeing some at $31k brand new in Bris…amazing price as that is how much a CX3 and i30 cost

    • Called at least 5 MG in WA, $30990 stock all gone

      • Carsales shows a few in WA at the discounted price (+700 for other other colours)

        • Called them, $30990 sold out. New stock coming $32990.

          • +2

@stevelo: Just wait 6 months. Get a slightly used one, $25k driveaway with sub 5,000km.

            • +2

@Dollar Dreamer: There is $3500 WA government cash back for new EV, so $30990 - $3500 = $27490 Brand New.

              • @stevelo: yea, but it's not a hybrid, so impossible to drive from WA to Sydney in a timely fashion.
