    W T F ?

  • Supports 100s of "Web 3.0" apps, 100% unnecessary though.

Are there still network down times with SOL? SOL is notorious for this happening at least once every 6 months. So much for a world class network 😆

    • 7 months up now ;)

      • That’s great, some improvement :)

        • and well they did hit 5.6 million daily active users this week, a new record in crypto

    Price in title please…

  • So what happens when the Solana network is crapping its pants? I mean probably nothing because a "Web 3.0" phone is basically just an overpriced, low-spec generic phone with a lot of NFT-related crapware shoveled in but if anything essential relies on the Solana network… well good luck.

    • This ia an Android phone with a hardware wallet baked in. The Solana network isn't needed to use it as a phone, you still need a carrier.

As for overpriced, the first one was definitely the case, but this one at this price is very competitive. With airdrops it will likely be free over time.

You can always uninstall anything you don't like, it's Android after all.

For an as yet non existant phone, with undetermined parts/etc … Which may or maynot work in AU.

T&C's make for an interesting read…

Non-refundable deposit of $450 US to secure a spot on waitlist.

+++ Prior to actual shipping … "You agree to promptly provide us with (1) the balance owed on the Purchase Price, plus any additional costs and fees disclosed on the Final Pricing Sheet"

Network Connectivity. If applicable, the Product is carrier-agnostic, and Solana Mobile makes no representations or warranties with respect to cellular or other network coverage in any geographic territory.

    • the phone exists tho, Anatoly was showing it to people during the launch conference

      • Only demo - proof of concept/ design… Not production model.

What carrier frequencies/bands does the phone use then … Ooh wait, it was only a demo / proof of concept model.

        • it's carrier agnostic so should work with most 4/5G providers

the previous model was sold and supported in Australia

    free moneyyy

Yeah the first one paid itself 5x with airdrops alone…

How so ? (Plz explain like im 5….)

        • +1

to buy this phone you need a Solana wallet (free) as explained in the "how to buy" bit above

a ton of Solana projects (crypto coins) give free coins (airdrops) to Solana phone holders for multiple reasons (marketing, regulations, etc).

So by owning this phone, you get free crypto, which you can convert to cash. The 1st gen gave thousands of dollars in airdrops, this is the 2nd gen phone.

There's nothing you have to do, airdrops just show up in your wallet once dropped. Well you do have to pay tax ideally.

  • Sigh… even the Solana phone has 120hz… Tim… sigh…

Got to save that juicy 120 for future releases that are otherwise lacking new features. Just like the USB-C

    What a load of shit.

  • This is no deal lol. You will be a walking target if you flash this around. The best defense is to be as lowkey as possible. Save your money and just use phantom wallet on your iPhone & just write your seed down on paper hide it somewhere safe

    • You shouldn't have your life savings on this… but to use it to spend money here and there it's perfect. Once it's old and you've upgraded, you can leave this at home and use it as a hw wallet only.

You will be a walking target if you flash this around.

How many criminals that know what this is do you expect to find doing street muggings?

      Beyond that : Relevant XKCD : https://xkcd.com/538/

  • Not a bargain in my honest opinion 🤔

  • It says "US$450 Non-refundable deposit" wow

Unknown hardware, non-refundable deposit to get on the waitlist, Web3 BS, sounds like your average crypto scam to me

    • I tend to agree!

  • disclaimer: not an israeli phone

      Why does it matter? =D

  • This product clearly isnt aimed at me, as I have no idea what the hell its meant to be for… And all the articles I can find about it read like AI copypasta of a press release so I'm still in the dark.

Aside from make phone calls and post selfies on social media (presumably), what is an actual use case for this device? Like exchanging photos of monkeys for magic numbers or whatever?

    • it's an Android phone merged with a crypto hardware wallet so it's nearly impossible to be hacked.

It's for people that deal / pay / buy stuff with Bitcoin and other cryptos, like Solana.

  • This phone will basically pays for itself when it comes out. The airdrops alone are known to be 2-5x the price of this phone.
Don't believe me? Just look up Solana Sega1 phones. Most are selling for 4-5k on ebay.
