Seems like the 85" size is the new 65"

    • I bought my 65" at $909.30 on samsung website 5 months ago and I'm so jealous at today's price.

      • I got Frame 65" for $950 ftom Samsung year and a half ago! was a combination of loyalty voucher and price drop. crazy stuff, best TV for gaming and pretty much everything else

I could go OLED but not at this price at this size. also I love Frame aesthetics

85 is a PITA to carry if you ever have to move house.

      • +1

Cheap enough to consider as landfill if you don't move for a few years or so

        • +2

Wow, I wouldn't consider $1500 as landfill throwaway lol. You must be loaded haha

  • +1

What's picture quality like? Thinking of getting it as an upgrade for my parents circa-2008 (720p) 50" plasma.

    • +7

It will absolutely demolish that, but I've heard the speakers aren't too good, worthwhile to get a $150 Bose 2 Soundbar for it. Which is exactly what I did!

      • Was it this Bose sound bar?
        https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bose-solo-soundbar-2-885866-5…
        If it was, any good?

        • Sorry for the late reply, but I'm very very happy with mine. Maybe if you've heard other (and more premium) soundbars, but I'm fairly sure only audiophiles will tell the difference. Connectivity is obsurdly good too so we use it as a bluetooth speaker too, works a charm. I don't understand the hate for it, $150 is a steal.

    • Isn't plasma superior for sport/fast moving images? Based on my 2008 knowledge.

      • +1

That plasma would surely be dull by now though

      • I went from a Samsung 8500 60" Plasma (basically top of the line at the time) to a LG C2 65" OLED and the colour, clarity and picture quality is just so much better on the OLED. The motion on sports on the plasma was slightly better, but my eyes adjusted pretty quick and I don't notice the difference now.

        • +2

The DU7700 is certainly no oled.

        • This and LG C2 OLED isn't the same, 4-5 times the price difference.

  • Any under 75'' good on sale?

    • +2

Good Guys commercial have this TV:
      43”: $665
      50”: $748
      55”: $831

  • Thx op

Purchased through cashrewards… Didn't get the price check at check out though :(

    • +3

Just as well because it wouldn't have tracked if you use a price match check.

Hearing some issues about samsung display issues on other deals for this tv posted today. Want one but refraining

    • Good. Please refrain from ozb

    • +1

I have the CU8000 series of this tv which i think is one generation behind, which may not be that bad as they seem to update then annually?

It works really well, sound is good, picture is good for everything from gaming to movies. Like I understand it's not going to be at the full OLED level of perfection, but for the price it's damn good.

My only issue is an issue related to using the xbox gaming app which triggers a grey screen issue from time to time but you just turn the tv off and on and its all good.

    Need 65

    • +4

reckon one would be enough for me

  • Thinking about upgrading my 65" Samsung Q70T to the 85".. Is this panel any good? I'd rather it not be a downgrade tradeoff just for some more size.

    • +4

I have q70t and I also have DU7700, DU7700 is a major downgrade in terms of picture quality.

      • Roger, guess I'm continuing the wait for a 75" OLED deal…

    • +3

DU series are shite basically. bottom of the spectrum

      Q70T would be better

      U series < Q60 < Frame and Serif < Q70 < QN80 etc

  • Don't forget the 4% cashback through TopCashback. Don't use price check to purchase or you might not get approved.

Can the 200 tgg credit be used at tgg commercial?

  • Anyone have any experience with this one and gaming? Specifically PS5?

Tossing up between this and TCL - C745

    • C745 is 200hz with 144 VRR. Much better choice

    • -1

      i think I saw 50Hz for this TV… 50fps gaming

When signing up to StoreCash, how long does it take to get the SMS to activate your digital wallet?

    • Comes through straight away.

      • Thanks. It ended up coming through after 15 minutes.

  • +4

What about the free wall mount installation. Does it includes wall mount? I currently don't have my TV wall mounted but can't really have 85" on the TV cabinet lol.

  • +1

These have bad reviews, consider all options before buying because a TV is usually for ten years.

  • +1

Will it rust like my samsung washing machine?

    • Or my Samsung fridge?

      • Yes and yes

  • Would the TCL TV's be a better option than these (when on sale of course)?

    • C755 and above yes, C655 debatable.

  • Damn I just bough 2 days ago from JBHIFI and threw away the packaging. Any idea if I can return and buy this?
Just call JB HiFi chat and if I bring receipt, they will refund the difference, but no store cash. Oh well, not a total loss at least.

  • Wow… I am limited to about 50-65 and you guys be posting 85”…
I watch sport (afl, f1, tennis etc) and was told to look for something better?

  • -1

OMG..it's free delivery as well for Syd metro..can't be better

  • +1

I bought the 85" for $1385 from TGG website which includes delivery and wall mount installation. Not sure why they charged me less. Im not sure if I'll get $200 store credit as I activated the digital wallet after placing the order.

  • +1

Thanks. Got the 75” for $945 before credits

  • Genuine question, sorry, is the 4k sharp enough for 85" tv? I thought 65" and below is fine but not sure above. Went to local Binglee they turn on cricket show (probably low resolution from the source itself but it looks bit awful)

  • Will most generic wall tv wall brackets work on this tv? I got a fairly long one currently on my living room wall with a 55 inch Hisense tv attached that weighs about 20kg as per specifications 7 years ago or so. Thinking of transferring the back of that Hisense one to the 75 inch Samsung tv which weighs about 25kg.
Always a bit worried it may not fit or maybe too heavy. 85 inch would be good but it's possibly too big for my living room.
