shouldn't that be covered with your insurance?

      • We shall see.

    • Sounds like your tenants are doing their bit to combat price inflation of consumer goods LOL.

1 year warranty is an indication of how long Samsung expects the product to last.

    • +1

Yeah, legit I had the model before this. Died in 2 years. Junk.

Loving my LG G4 let’s see if that lasts 5+.

Ideally TVs should be 10 years.

    • +3

Yeah that's criminal, environmental vandalism. Might be able to get warranty under the ACL, what reasonable person would expect a name brand TV to last just over 1 year?

    Refresh rate 60hz?

    • +1

      Worse, 50hz..

      • Naaah

  • Any idea how does it sound?

    • +3

      :-)

      Etymology
Borrowed from Korean 삼성(三星) (Samseong), literally “tristar” or “three stars”, combined to represent “powerful eternity”.

      Pronunciation
      IPA(key): /ˈsæm.sʌŋ/

      • +1

        Is that you JV?

    • +2

this is a budget tv. it can make sound. thats it.

    • +3

It sounds pretty good if you plug it into some speakers.

Samsung are bad, avoid, prove me wrong.

Bought a Samsung plasma tv in 2011. Developed pink lines 5 years later with panel replaced by Samsung under stat warranty. Plasma only lasted a few more years. Couldn't be fixed as plasmas no longer made. Offered replacement LCD which was basic or full refund by Samsung. Got full refund 8 years after I bought it.

      • +1

I feel like 8 years is pushing ACL a little far.

      • Opposite Samsung experience to me, plasma screen failed after 4 years and they refused any sort of remedy. ACL had no actual power.

    • My 55" (UA55B8000) Samsung is still great after 16 years

    • I’ve got the Samsung AU8000 85”. Use it at least 4 hours/day since 2021 and never had a single issue. It’s fast and picture is great for a budget tv. The sound is horrible and tinny which is expected for the price, but we have it connected to a Samsung soundbar which works seamlessly via CEC connection.

We also have a Samsung fridge which hasn’t had an issue since we bought it in 2013. I actually kinda wish it would die so I had an excuse to get something that matches our new kitchen.

I’m not a Samsung fan girl by any means, but I’m not sure they’re as bad as people say. I’ve had more issues with my Dyson, Electrolux and Asko appliances than anything I have from Samsung.

      • +1

I know thats cap when you said fridge.

        • I know their fridges are notoriously lemons, perhaps we just got lucky… but ours hasn’t had a single problem.

  • Anyone find the Rtings review for this one?

Samsung TV generally is good. Shouldn't have too much problem. My Samsung TV was brought 10 years ago and its still working. Only thing is the YouTube and other apps doesn't work well anymore and sometimes gets very slow.

    • +1

Just keep in mind this is their absolutely most budget model so the display will not be good.

  • Family had 3 samsung tvs, all went through display issues and required repair / replacement

  • Can anyone please check 85" price for me on the EPP?

  • I (still) have the "2019" version of the tv. Still runs ok, true the HDR isn't the best… but other than disabling the local dimming feature and occasionally (well 2-4 times a year) resetting the colour/brightness settings per each HDMI connection… I've had no major issues with it.

I'm aware I'll need to get a new one soon. I'd probably go with a similar spec. The trade off of an OLED isn't worth it for me.
