  • It works fine with a 4ah battery but I've seen someone try the tiny battery and it doesn't look to work as well, YMMV

    • +5

I have one of these and use it on with a small battery, its fine when fully charge but you do notice a performance drop when the battery is getting low. But small battery works fine when going around after mowing the lawn.

  • +2

Is this any good for drying cars?

    • +3

      Yes

    • +1

I thought it was until I got a bigboi.

If the car is waxed or ceramic coated it will work fine.

      • Does it actually do a decent job? It seems a little underpowered for car drying.

        • I've only used it on ceramic coated cars and the beads blow off reasonably well. After getting a big boi you realise how average it is by comparison.

On a non coated car I think it would be pretty frustrating.

          • @MS Paint: Hmm. I'm not coated but I have decent beading from the wax and sealants that I use. I've used a similar Ryobi product, but I likely could've done better by blowing kisses at the car.

Do you have the full sized big boi or are you using the mini/junior?

    • +2

      Never thought of that… cheers

      • +3

Neither but damn… might have to try now. Start a revolution.

        • +4

Or maybe don't. It sounds like just another way to "save energy" by consuming more.

          • @banana365: Fair point

            • +1

@EitherWayUp: Obviously going to depend on your property/energy consumption but I usually feed into the grid so charging during day time is a free hit.

Conversely, you'd also have to use water and electricity to properly wash the chamois/drying cloth after use.

              • @Osiris: Why are you washing your chamois? If you're drying a cleaned car then there's not going to be anything to wash off. Just hang it up to dry.

                • @banana365: Doesn't take much to miss a spot and once you run or pat the towel on that area its contaminated or dropping the towel or depending on what cleaners you are using, for example washers with rinseaid in them and spray/rinse waxes will invariably mean the towel can be soaking some of that up.

Anyway check out cardetailers forums and reddit, vast majority recommend washing them every time, I only started after the last paint detail, the lads work was impressive so took on all the tips he suggested.

    • I use a pet dryer

    • +3

Read that as cats and was a bit concerned

    • Yes, I use mine all the time.

    • Literally washed the car on the weekend and realised too late that I couldn't find the chamois. This is brilliant

      • Which battery? The 1.5ah?

        • Nah I was implying I didn't think of this method and I definitely will next time. FWIW I exclusively use 4ah batteries on my blower though. In fact, my 2ah doesn't really get any use any more.

          • @Hinee: Sorry, was meant to reply to @Naigrabzo

    • No. In my experience with this model over a couple of years its nozzle is too small and it’s underpowered to dry a car with. Does work to blow water out of crevices.

I’m looking for a more powerful 36v blower to dry the car with

  • For a small area, is it worth getting a blower vacuum or the vacuum is usually a waste of time?

    • +4

Depends if you have a lot of leaves to deal with. I usually just blow all my leaves onto the grass and then go over it with a mower.

    • +1

Vac has been a waste for me. You still need to empty the bag. I wish I had a lighter blower because i collect the leaves into a dustpan in the end and put them in the bin. Small mostly paved yard.

Bigger battery too, the 1.5 ah one is pretty shite.

      • Thanks for mentioning this. Was about to ask if I could use a 2.5Ah battery lying around…

    • I would be keen for the grass trimmer if anyone around GC wants the bigger battery for free

      • Would you be willing to wait 7 weeks? Lol!! I'm heading up to the GC from Sydney early November.

    • Damn, wouldn't mind the bigger battery, don't need the trimmer though. Anyone in Sydney want the trimmer only?

      • I'm keen!

      AVOID THE OZITO BLADE TRIMMER!

Had one, sold it on Gumtree and replaced with a PXC line trimmer which has been great.

      • +1

each to their own but had the blade trimmer for 2 years now no issues

      • Why? What was wrong with it? And which model did you have?

        • +1

whats wrong with it, im thinking about getting the $99 kit with the blower, blade trimmer and 2.5ah batteries

        • +1

the trimmer is a bit arse, but fine for touching up edges around a small home

thick grass will burn out the motor

use the Bosch blades as they tend to fly off less often

        • +1

Blades are consumed quicker than plastic line, cost more, cut less effectively, and and constantly fly off the little 'hook' the moment you touch thicker grass.

Note, my lawn is Sir Walter Buffalo - so grows quite thick especially over spring and summer.

It might be perfectly fine on less thick lawns, but my experience has been much better with the Ozito PXC line trimmer.

@80024: Obligatory trimmer testing video. (The Ozito trimmer trimming things that should not be trimmed)
            https://youtu.be/LK5G7c8vPcQ

My understanding is that the trimmers sold before the model in this video (so over 3 years ago) were worse, and the blades were much weaker. Most of the negative comments about them seem to have come from this period.

That might not be your experience of course.

But having used one of these trimmers for years now, the blades very very rarely come off. Pretty much only if I mess up and catch them on a sharp edge. I have a line trimmer too, as it's much faster for areas where you can't be precise and need to let the line hit against things that won't cut, or more power is needed.

      • Pxc line trimmer motors smoke up as well I've returned 2. so neither are reliable long term.

    • I've had this trimmer lying around in a box for years from a $29 deal that was cheaper than buying the battery alone.. don't know what to do with it I hear it's a piece of junk and have a proper whipper snipper

  • +2

I actually love this blower. Its not high powered but its very light and easy to use. Great as a workshop blower but also does the leaves and what not out the front. You do get the same amount of blowing power amongst 2ah/2.5ah and 4ah(these are the three types I have) and it works fine on all of them. My only complaint is they chew through those batteries quite quickly so 1.5ah will be pretty horrible.. It looks to be just a simple brushed motor/battery/switch in a plastic housing so no surprises on that really. For what it does and the price point its awesome.

    • +1

Agreed. Brushless might be better but won't be cheap.

    • Works a treat for camping.

    • Yep, I've got this one and also the ozito jet blower.

For quick easy jobs, this is great to use as it's light and you can use it one handedly to clear leaves etc off the patio vs the heavier jet blower (which needs two batteries)

  • nice

@geekcohen: The normal 99$ item linked in the post seems to be the non-split tube version. Not sure of the difference between split tube vs non-split tube version

    • The blower looks the same apart from the split tube. $99 comes with 2.0Ah battery

  • Would this be better than the workshop blower ($49 skin only). https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-workshop-blower-an…

I’ve been waiting a while for that to come on special to keep on the balcony to blow baby’s food mess off after eating. Seems that one is only 78km/hr vs this one’s 210km/hr so despite the extra weight and size - may be best to get this one on sale?

Nb I already have heaps of Ozito batteries from the many other deals :)

Anyone uses 2 of these simultaneously?

I have one, but I find myself using it in a zig-zag manner, pointing it from the left, then right, then left, and so on, to move leaves from A to B in a straight line.

If I don't, the leaves just fan out. So I'm thinking whether it's quicker to carry one blower in each hand, to blow leaves from equal but opposite angles at the same time.

    • +1

      left, then right, then left
      A to B

Sounds like a code from Mortal Kombat lol

  • I dont need trimmer. Anyone in Sydney north west or sydney cbd want the trimmer skin only for $30? pm pls

i have the Ryobi air blower rated at 245km/h air velocity and this ozito air blower, this is rated at 210km/h

the ryobi does a great job, i feel like this ozito blower capacity is around 120km/h, doesnt feel strong at all

anyone else have the same experience?

    • Don't have the Ryobi but this one even with a 4ah battery is no way 200+ kph.

      • yes 100% its not as advertised, considering to return it for this reason, normal task takes too long
