Came across this deal, not cheap as before. But seems to be a good deal with $397 (43% off).

JB does price match.
Officeworks has same price.

This is my first post so please bear with me. Getting used to terms and conditions of ozb.

Apologies mate, my blind eyes did not see the L flare…

    • I've fixed up the title but just FYI for next time the usual title formatting is Product, Price + Delivery (if applicable) @ Storename

      e.g ACME Anvil $69.42 + Delivery @ ACME Store

If you are having trouble writing up titles you can also copy and paste from older deals and then edit the price as needed. e.g

      • Damn, that inflation must be sending Wile E Coyote bankrupt…

  • Comments on device?

Have horrible net in my room and study as they are far away from an immovable* router** (whatever fiber connecting to).

    May be using router/modem interchangably.

    • Most mesh systems are good. I prefer Tplink over Amazon Eero / Google Nest.
Hard to tell in your case until you get a unit and try it. Walls, obstructions etc etc make any generalisation difficult

      • what tp-link would you recommend

I've got these and it's pretty awesome in comparison to Google previous gen!

Heaps of alternatives too, I just like the Google eco system, but yeah…I don't know any better!

The good thing about Amazon is that you should be able to return if it doesn't suit!

    • My Nest Pro has been great so far, no issues and the speed is fast.

    • If you want to future proof things, get Unifi devices from Ubiquiti.
You will need atleast 1 access point and 1 cloud gateway device.
I am running a UGC Ultra + U7 Pro and I couldn't be happier with my network setup.

  • If I already have a router/modem, do I need to replace my router or can I keep my existing router and use the google nest wifi to strengthen my wifi signal?

    • 99% of the cases router/access points can be configured to do either only.

    • Why would you want to keep your router if you’re buying a mesh system?

  • Isn't this an insanely good deal?

P.S. Google Store would price match Officeworks on this, good if you have some spare store credit to burn, and if you pay for the 2TB/m plan, you also get 10% back as store credit

    • It’s an okay deal, I got 3x1-pack from Bunnings @ $175 last week

      • +1

        Last gen I assume?

        • It’s Nest Pro 6E so latest gen. It was on clearance and Bunnings doesn’t stock it anymore hence the price

Loads and Loads of ongoing issues with the new Google Nest Wifi Pros, hence the discounts, Google Wifi Reddit has a whole heap of threads about these.

    • Mine has been stellar so far, no issues.

  • Is there a big difference between the deco Mesh routers and the Google nest mesh?

  • When will they release a WiFi 7 edition? Or given the problems with Google Nest WiFi Pros and withdraw of router sales from Google Fibre, is this now the end of the road of Google's router adventures?

    • Probably at least a year when Wifi 7 prices drop, the eero Wifi 7 mesh router is $1100 for a single pack and Google would want to target a much lower price

    • If you want to future proof things, get Unifi devices from Ubiquiti.
You will need atleast 1 access point and 1 cloud gateway device.
I am running a UGC Ultra + U7 Pro and I couldn't be happier with my network setup.
      Wifi 7 ready

      • My problem with this setup is that I need to do wireless backend routing.

I don’t mind having nbn > wifi 7 router > 10gbe switch hardwired — but I need one or two mesh networks that cannot be hardwired in order to spread the signal through apartment.

Does ubiquiti support me in this use case?

        • I'll be getting a second U7 Pro soon, so will be able to confirm this then. But AFAIK, Unity does mesh but with each AP hardwired.

Can you patch a cat6 from your NBN NTD to the ceiling?
          30m cat 6 cables aren't very expensive.

        • I believe it is now possible with these
          https://ui.com/us/en/wifi/building-bridge

  • I would hard avoid. Had numerous problems with the Google routers that was unfixable even with their customer support, ended up returning the unit fully.

  • Strangely have found these to be very performant, much better than another wifi 6 mesh system I’d tried. I’ve managed to get two nodes to mesh across a timber stud wall then thick convict sandstone, while dodging some rammed earth as well. I must be the only satisfied customer.

  • would you recommend this for the use with a Nokia 5g fastmile gateway router/device? or will two routers cause issues?

  • Neat Doorbell offer is now at 37% discount. $208.

  • Nest WiFi Pro is at $388 now.
