Terrible deal, if you want points better to buy through BM, then to buy directly.

  • BM ?

    • Black market

This is an easy way to have your account banned. Just churn

        • I bought 30000 for $300 a few years back off of here, a couple of weeks later I received a please explain from Qantas and lost the points

Not seeing any value, as for 90k (60+30) points it's $1,647.

Considering the lack of availability and far greater value programs you can purchase from like Air Canada Aeroplan, I'm not seeing this as a deal.

  • You can buy them cheaper through OzB classifieds, even with Qantas 50% bonus.
E..g. 1.77 cents on Qantas vs 1.3 cents per point in classifieds.

Haiyaaa 🤦‍♂️ 100% terrible to buy points.

Better to just buy wine like this and pour it down the drain.

    24,000 points plus 6,000 bonus points = $747.

12 bottles of wine plus 30,000 bonus points = $719. (Plus an additional 5,000 points if it’s your first purchase)

Other examples include 23,000 points for $420 if first purchase (nearly 55 points per dollar spent) plus 12 bottles of ‘free’ wine.

    • I hear you. But your example doesn't reflect too well. It's over $0.02 per point which is on the expensive side

I never said this was the cheapest, I’m just saying it’s cheaper than OPs deal.

    • That is fine if you only want 30000 points. However if you want 90000 points it’s cheaper via Qantas at $1647 than via wine at $2157.

I agree credit card churning is the best cheapest option to get points, but for those that can’t or don’t want to do this, at least this (if going for the 50% off option) seems like one of the cheapest option without getting your account cancelled.

        This is an excellent tool:

        https://www.flightformula.com/tools/qfwine

As you can see, historically there have been some great deals that provided essentially "free" wine, especially if you have the $50 wine voucher from hitting Points Club. There are currently no great deals though.

Never buy points, they devalue them, literally making you lose money. My strategy is always to get credit cards with bonus points offer for QFF or Velocity. Even if it incurrs an annual fee, the bonus points work out cheaper than straight up buying points.

Yeah horrible availability from Qantas these days.

credit card sign up (westpac black qantas)

        • made that assumption, until Wiadro baited with "…and also paid for a bunch of home renos"

          • @randomdude14: Home Renos done by reputable tradies which take credit cards.
And yes it was CC points
