Sync your soul with the sound…. God I love the randomness

Their translation is probably a bit off 😂

If you think that's random, you should check out the BLON BL-03, a meme in the community.

    • +8

      android audio player

    • +25

I was hesitant to post. This is a niche product. It's essentially a dedicated audio player like an iPod but with android and audiophile hardware and software. You can do eq and other filters to change the soundstage and sound of headphones or iems. It also has an sd card slot so it can hold way more than a modern phone that doesn't have an SD card slot.

      • +12

Enough space for all million flac track covers of ‘fly me to the moon’

      • Can it connect to something like tidal or spotify or is it purely for high bitrate audio you have in storage?

        • +3

Well it's just like a phone with Android without the phone and with an SD card slot and 2 analog outs. It can do any streaming service available on Android. I personally use apple music because I have found it's the best quality for my favorite tracks. You can also install different players for local files like Poweramp, neutron or uapp. It's a very versatile device.

      • +2

Thanks for posting. I use a lot of Fiio gear and I'm not gain enough to share deals around here knowing what people are like. It's good to see this getting good feedback.

        • +4

Yeah I was prepared for downvotes and the whole "who needs a dap in 2024" but I think the Evangelion colab part helped with the acceptance lol

      • +1

        I was hesitant to post.

        Don't be. Though I wish I hadn't seen this one. I don't need another DAP but…

        • How many do you have 😅

  • +3

Do I need this? Do I really need this? I'm so tempted but I know I'll probably rarely use it!

    • Not really for most but it's a bit of a novelty and I love stuff like this. If you are an audiophile or just like audio players you should look into it. I think it was worth it for me because I had a dap beforehand that is getting old and I love this design.

    • +1

I'm pondering the same thing.. I don't think my ears could really tell the difference in quality at this point in my life

    • Ask yourself one more time

    • +1

      I don't want to buy!

      • You don't have to!

  • Can you install "Tidal" on this?

    • +4

Yes. It's Android 12 so anything available on the play store or in a .apk format will work

    • Dw i read the info 🥲
You can you install music steaming service.

    • I think tidal works on all newer Hiby DACs I have an older Hiby R2 and it has Tidal.

      • +1

That uses hiby os. That has tidal and qobuz I assume. This is Android so it's very different

  • +5

    tumbling down… tumbling down..

  • I use an android phone with an EQ app 'Wavelet' intead of a DAP.

    • +1

Yeah that's a great option. I just like having a separate device that I can tinker with. I know many people still have a use for daps.

    • By the way if you ever feel like you're being limited by Wavelet or it's not quite good enough, try Poweramp EQ

  • So if I'm wowed by Amazon music's quality and Atmos/360 audio using my phone and XM4s, will this thing sound better? I like the colours and Evangelion.

    • Hmm tough question. You might enjoy that it comes with system wide eq but i doubt the rest will have a noticable difference especially with wireless headphones and you could do eq with an android phone anyway with an audio player app or wavelet. Have you looked into audiophile stuff before? Or even just daps?

Shinji hospital scene but the {REDACTED} is my wallet

    • +1

      hospital scene

      ‘I’m so f****d up’

    • How disgusting

      • Don't hate the Shinji players hate the Shinji game

        • haha I don't actually hate Shinji anymore

  • That seems… super pricy for an Android-based media player that only has 15h of battery life, but at least on paper it seems that it has a decent DAC. I might've considered if I was a fan of Evangelion, but it looks like an interesting gadget that's more of a collectible

    • Yeah but there is so little competition this is probably one of the best value.

      • Eh I went into a black hole of reviews and decided to give it a go. This is priced higher than the regular version but has twice the storage and +1GB RAM compared to the regular version, and Evangelion, so oh well. I also like that I can run it as an USB DAC for PC if I wanted to.

Any recomendations for some open-back balanced headphones that won't drain my wallet completely? lol

Also, do we know when these will ship?

        • Hd6xx? I use iems. What's your budget?

          • @HaydosK: I never had any open-back so I was considering going that way, haven't really considered IEMs, huh. I guess those are much better for travel.

HD650s I would be in my range when on sale I guess. I think $500 and below. I guess I can just hold off until boxing day, got Drop THX Panda to keep me company for a bit, I can use them wired via 3.5mm to test the waters out.

I guess I should start by reading https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/by-usage/crit…

What IEMs are you using if you don't mind me asking?

            • +1

@drasticmeasures1337: I'm using the zero red. Looking to upgrade them soon. Rtings isn't the best for audio. They got called out recently. I think the edition xs is the best on that list and you can get it for $450 from addicted to audio.

              • @HaydosK: Cheers.

Oh. Those are… Cheap? I was expecting something ridiculously priced lol, $90 is actually quite reasonable.

I might do some more research for something inexpensive before going full in.

                • +1

@drasticmeasures1337: Yeah. There is no price pressure especially with chifi. I wanted to get into iems and while I was in Singapore I got the reds from crinacles the hangout store. I wish we had more audio stores in Australia 🙁. Minidisc is the closest thing to that but there is only one store

                  • @HaydosK: Agreed. I decided to go around a similar price point, secured myself a Linsoul KZ ZS10 PRO 2 and their 4.4mm balanced cable to test this with (purple, should go well with the DAP once it arrives)

    • Better than a titan sized biorobot that can only last 5 minutes of auxiliary batteries.

  • +1

God's in his heaven all's right with the world

  • +2

Product seems tempting. Price, not so much.

    • It's a good price for a dap but yeah it's not cheap.

  • this vs the Sony NWA-306?

    • They both have different benefits but it depends on what you need. The a306 has a longer battery life but the r4 has more software features like system wide eq, src bypass for bit perfect audio and balanced out.

  • +6

    charges using proprietary umbilical cable

      It has USB-C?

      • I assume it's a joke? Idk

      5 minute battery life

      • Why

        • +3

All NGE references (umbilical cable, 5 minute battery life, How disgusting, I don't want to buy!)

No thanks, I'll stick to my DAT player.

  • +2

When you get to the end of a playlist and you press forward does it say "You Can [Not] Advance"?

      • NGE movie title joke

  • Anyone got theirs delivered yet? They had delay with shipping and now it looks like mine's been stuck on Hand over to airline since the 29th :(

    • Wait someone actually bought this lmao. Yeah I got it also and it's stuck in the same place 😭

      • Rip. Also heck yeah someone did lol

        • I think it will move on the 8th

          • @HaydosK: Hopefully, 8th is a public holiday in some states tho lol

            • @drasticmeasures1337: Did you get it yet?

              • +1

@HaydosK: I also ordered one, last update was yesterday and says delivery failed. No card in the mailbox or anything. I got a secondary tracking number from Singapore post but otherwise I have no idea which parcel carrier this is being delivered with. Pretty frustrating…

                • +1

@MX5l: Yep. Exactly the same thing happened to me. I know hiby is a legit company so I'm not too worried but 4px isn't a good shipping service. I hope it comes soon

                  • +1

@HaydosK: The worst part is I have no idea who it's with. We have a 4PX distributor here in Perth, might try them. Otherwise it looks like they've handed over to Fastway (now Aramex) in the past…
The other possibility is it's been scanned incorrectly when in reality theyve never attempted delivery and its sitting in a distribution centre somewhere

                    • @MX5l: It seems this is happening to everyone in Australia. So confusing

                      • +1

@HaydosK: Yeah no luck. It's not with 4PX here and doesn't show up on their tracking system. I emailed Hiby and they suggested I check in with Auspost. Neither the 4PX number nor the Singapore number work on their system either. I'm at a bit of a loss now. Ice emailed Hiby, let's see what they say

                        • @MX5l: Oh it doesn't show on the 4px tracking?? My one still does. I recommend you use this site to track because it searches all tracking sites. https://parcelsapp.com/.

As for the hiby response I got the same message. But yeah it's absolutely useless because it won't be delivered by auspost. I replied telling them it will be through someone else. I think hiby doesn't really know what to do. I'm sure they have had more than just us complaining so they really should be in contact with 4px to check.

I won't give up though if we don't get them.

                        • @MX5l:

The shorter SG one works with AusPost, just shows Pending. My understanding is that it will become active when parcel arrives in Aus, but idk.

                          • @drasticmeasures1337: The issue is that the latest tracking update from 4PX (and Singapore post) says delivery attempted and failed. I'd assume it's already in the country, still says pending though on Auspost.

                            • @MX5l: Ah yep mine has just received the same update, Delivery failed, huuuuh

                              • +1

@drasticmeasures1337: Just received mine today. Hope that means you will also

@HaydosK: Oh wow! Who was it delivered with in the end? Did your tracking update or change?
