I was looking for a phone for FIL and found this, looks like a good price considering the features. TBH, it seems to be quite responsive for the price, especially the 90 Hz screen.

  • Only 4GB RAM :(

Perfect for my MIL who only needs a big screen for the occasional video, then.

      • yeah my FIL currently has an Optus Sleek X which I got from a previous deal for ~$60 in 2019, the battery is having some issues and bought this instead.

  • Not bad. Unless I'm mistaken this was released 6 months ago. This year.

You are joking! OK, 120HZ is not essential, but it is cool for scrolling. $1400 and only 60-Hz!?

    • I missed this! Is iPhone 16 really only 60Hz or are you taking the piss?!?

      Wow just Googled it. Crazyyyyyy

      • "you never need a phone screen with more than 60Hz" <<< some CEO would say

        • My TV, MacBook, monitors, iPad and iPhone are all 60Hz. I continue to exist and live my life.

@PainToad: My ones are 165Hz (ASUS Rog + Dell monitor) and I also continue to exist and live my life 😎

I love the people moaning about low specs… It's a $129 phone, do you expect a flagship for that price?!?!?

For people who only need the basics in a phone (camera for basic shots, ability to call and text, casual watching of YouTube videos, casual browsing of the internet, checking emails) this will do absolutely fine.

Moto G14 could be bought for $135 in December last year. It has much better specs than G04. Somehow, its price has gone up since then.

    • Yep. I'm using the G14 as my daily driver. Perfectly sufficient for my needs.

      • Same here.

  • Bought this from The Good Guys - FYI despite what the official Motorola website says, it does not come with a USB cable at all. You do get a free silicon case though.

No charger in-box-I had to request one be shipped out to me from Motorola with a copy of my proof of purchase, just had to contact Motorola support and Roadhound their repair partner sent me out a MC-105 10W charger free of charge.

      • +1

Yeah no charger in box either. The store manager was very insistent that there was at least an USB-C cable in the box. I said there is none so they gave me one for free.

Plenty people battling bigtime to just put food on table for kids so yeah there's a big market 4 this .

    • Nah get the higher model you need a better phone for uber etc

      • Which higher model would you recommend? The g14? I'm in the market for a budget phone that I can connect earbuds to and go for walks, exercise, etc and if I drop it accidentally then I don't feel so hurt. Thanks in advance.

  • The E14 on Vodafone prepaid only has 2GB RAM RAM instead of the G04's 4GB and the same SoC as the G04 but has the 10W charger in-box (happen to own both).

Moto G14 (Vodafone locked!) is $119 at Kmart ($169 after $50 unlocking fee).
I'm not sure yet what to get for my parents who need new phones before 3G closure…

This phone would have been bleeding edge ~8 years ago and cost 10x more. Crazy how quickly the tech has moved and reduced in price.

  • wow looks like it has nfc too.
