OzBargains New Site Title Colour

Is my laptop on its way out, or has OzB changed the colour to an absolutely horrible, hard on the eyes yellow?

Makes me nauseous.

It's a weird shade of yellow on mobile too

  • How would this look on an Orange Monitor?

Since when are inline images allowed in comments?

        Are you a platinum member?

        • +5

Yep, always been allowed for those that pay….

Wow this thread is just packed full of dumb questions.

        • and yet you have no answer for me, how can I have inline images in comments?

          PS: I didn't neg you.

          • @soan papdi: Images aren't permitted in comments for the exception of April 1, 2016. A day to remember….

          • +1

@soan papdi: You can't, it's for mods only. This place would be an absolute cesspit if people were allowed to post inline images. I'm not worried if you negged me, it would be fair if you did.

      • Only moderators are currently able to post deals and comments with inline images.

    • Now I know what I was doing wrong, spinning the dial on the computer that was switched off

        img{#id .class}

Unsplash image testing for inline images like neil's post above. Does not work.

        • It was an IQ test.

          • @brendanm: So clever you are!

FWIW it fails to render in the browser but your reply, when I was notified by email, showed my image as inline. Guess only mods have inline images enabled.

Thanks, my mum always told me I was special!

As others have said, you need to have OzB Premium.

Looks fine to me…. great initiave

    • +3

Would you like some 't' with that?

      • What's your angle?

        • -1

It's RUOK week, so I thought I'd offer free consonants for fellow Ozbargainers, when they needed them.

      • nobody drinks t… and coffee didnt fit

        • +1

          You're right>

          initiacoffeeve

    • No one said it wasn't a great initiative? The post is about color choice and I personally think OzBargain should use black-on-yellow instead of white-on-yellow, which is what is making the shade of yellow less pleasing.

      • Nah, best to avoid football (all codes) team colours

  • -7

I guess hiring a designer experienced with colour just for the couple of times a year it's changed isn't worth it.

    • +3

RUOK isn’t an OzBargain initiative, they don’t get to pick the colour.

      • +1

        Didn't Scotty invent R U OK?

      • +2

R U OK uses black text on that shade of yellow. OzBargain chooses to use white text on it.

  • -2

Does OZB get paid to do this?

    • no

    • Other way round. We've given about $20,000 to R U OK? over the years.

      See charity donations.

What do you think R U OK is selling?

Does this mean that OZB will change the colour of it's banner for other issues - going forward ???

Where was the purple for "purple bra day" ???
Or WORLD cancer day on 4th Feb?

Or are mods trying to highlight mental health WITHIN their own business?

    Just saying.

    • Does this mean that OZB will change the colour of it's banner for other issues - going forward ???

Other than an occasional April Fools Day we haven't changed the colour of OzBargain. This is our tenth year we've run this.

Or are mods trying to highlight mental health WITHIN their own business?

Yes, I think there is an intersection between the online space and mental health. You can also see The Push-up Challenge 2024 - Join The OzBargain Team to Raise Fund for Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Awareness. I think it's also a very easy call to action for an OzBargainer to call a friend or PM another user whereas I'm not sure what the call to action would be for a cancer charity other than raising money.

Certainly if you have idea, please pitch them. We are always looking for smaller charities to donate to or partner up with.

    Lastly …

If mods/site TRULY wanted to show appreciation - thought, would've included a simple yellow face in banner.

This would've been instantly recognisable to RUOK day … Rather than changing banner colour + no proper indication.

Anyway - good on OZB to donating money to this organisation.

Just probably a poorly thought out execution of ideas.
What were your IT ppl thinking ???

There is a giant banner on the home page linking to the R U OK Day forum post!

        Ok, did not know.
Not everyone visits the main home page straight up.

EG. I have a URL saved in fav's folder - which goes straight to comps section.

        • Yeah same, did not see the RUOK banner, otherwise this post would not have been here.

    • +2

I say this with no hesitation. This is flat out the most annoying comment I've read all year. I can't fathom what you're thinking. How could you possibly think criticising a website for raising awareness at a cause they believe in makes any sense?

It's so shameful. I'm embarrassed for you.

      • Did you even read all of my post?

        Shame on you.

          He's correct.

  • Press <ALT> F4. That will restore the colour scheme back to normal.

      If <ALT> F4 , does not work, try <CTRL> W.
