  • The one from Amazon looks like the case is in a cardboard sleeve (or could just be a different picture used)

My recently purchased 4K version with the same art (UK version) came in a standard plastic case, with no slip cover. Unsure if Bluray copy is the same, but imagine it’s likely.

Not sure whats the point of this.. the Blueray for this movie has been around for years.

The 4k version is the new transfer thats supposed to be the best version of this movie..this could be a 1080P version of that sane transfer.. so maybe ok for $10… not for me though.. i will wait for the 4K to go on sale again

    • *Assuming one has a media player capable of playing 4K discs.

Second hand Xbos One S is like $100 on ebay plays 4k disk

    • There's no way the French guy is done remastering this movie.

You can look up the codes for the different versions.

    Here they are:

UK version in OP deal: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Fifth-Element-Blu-ray/271…

    JB HI-FI version: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Fifth-Element-Blu-ray/135…

The UK version is remastered and has a slipcover.

    • Really interesting, it looks like the UK version was released a ~10 years later (2020) and has a slightly higher bitrate and better audio.

  • Laughable cover art. A meat popsicle could have done better.

    • I don't mind it. It's got enough 🧀

This UK 1080p Blu-ray version from StudioCanal, as well as the UK 4K BD, were worked on by David Mackenzie and his company Fidelity in Motion, he did the mastering, encoding, and authoring for this disc… He’s highly regarded as the best in the industry at doing this kind of work for DVD, 1080p Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray releases, if you want the highest quality him and his company is who you want to do the work. David is a big fan of this movie too and this is a title that he really wanted to work on, so you know he took the highest level of care with it… All of his work is always great though.

Just a reminder that SBS plays The Fifth Element, five times in a row, starting at 5pm, on the fifth of the fifth each year.

Next year being 2025 will impact this positively I'm sure.

    Its a good night.

  • They had the 4K UHD bluray deal some time ago, totally worth it.
