Hi Rep, 10% isn't much for Aus number one bargain website. Any actual bargains or just using OzB for free adz?

    • +2

Im surprised we have not been flooded with more of these kind of business recently.

    • +1

I think Kmart/Target/BigW is cheaper than this

      • Hey @HolyCr4p

They possibly are cheaper with some items, but they are also large department stores with buying power and can afford to have low margins. We're a small business operating from a spare bedroom, buying from small wholesalers and suppliers, so we don't have the luxury of the lower prices of the bigger stores!

In saying that - the products we are offer are also unique, and are often handmade by small businesses around Australia. So, like anything, you get what you pay for in terms of quality.

        Thanks!

We are here for bargains, not to support small businesses and paying more

its in your best interest to highlight such product - there is definitely a steadily growing market segment for unique, hand made products (and ideally, reasonably priced if you want good feedback).

otherwise it's just coming across as yet another seasonal pop up pushing the same old mass produced ali baba landfill. / and yet another ozadvertiser spammer, lurker or not.

        • +4

I understand you're a small business, but as a seasonal OzB Lurker, would you pay $18.99 when you can buy the same item for $7? I picked the first / cheapest item that I found on your website (a small badge). You'll need to provide examples of bargains, as I'm not going to look at any other products you sell when the first one I looked at is much more expensive.

            @rompastompa:

            $7 delivered

and they look to be an Australian based small business too…damn now I dont know who to support!

This small business or the other small business!

          • @rompastompa: Tough crowd here @rompastompa, we have 50 odd products, and you pick the one novelty item that is available elsewhere!

If you'd like to purchase that particular badge, let me know and you can have it for $7 delivered.

            • +2

@Lappie23: No bargain listed as mentioned by Rompa. I wish you well though

            • +3

@Lappie23: You make it sound like I went through all your products and cherry picked the 'one' available elsewhere. I sorted by cheapest, and selected that badge. I then copied it to google images which came up with the eBay link.

As we've been all been saying, you need to provide us with examples of bargains that are cheaper or better value than your competitors. The onus is on YOU to provide this, not us to search through your products/website and find the bargains.

We all hope for you to succeed, I know it's tough, but this is a platform for bargains.

              • +3

@rompastompa: Ditto, randomly grabbed this guy and google found it cheaper here.

Sure, their shipping is higher but the net result is cheaper

You are missing the point sadly. Name one item then that is cheaper through your store than someone else. Should be easy enough to do surely since somewhere are only 50 products.

Cheaper elsewhere for the Christmas badge as mentioned in previous comments.

As a lurker, surely even you would not get enticed by a poultry 10% off on OzBargain from a small business.

    • Hey @watchnerd (and others)

I'd love to offer higher discounts - I'm a seasoned OzB lurker - but we are a small business just starting out with small margins, so we wanted to test the OzB waters and see what kind of response we get.
As we get more sales and have a bit more room to move, I hope to share more here - either general storewide discounts, or specific products etc.

      Appreciate the feedback though!

No bargains listed + Merry Christmas badge cheaper elsewhere as mentioned above by Rompa.

Sorry Rep but will have to neg as OzB is a website for sharing bargains.

    • As I mentioned to @rompastompa above - there's 50 odd products on the site, and they picked the one novelty item that's available elsewhere. Not a fair representation of the whole store, but I'll extend the same offer to you - if you'd like to purchase that particular badge for $7 delivered, I'll make you a voucher.

Otherwise, there's plenty of other items in our store that are unique and different :)

      • +1

Uh oh, rompa found the 1 in 50 item….spackbace made it 1 in 25, let's hope that's it.

    • no bargains listed as per above

Are you or were you ever associated with Christmas World?

    • Nope :) just someone who loves Christmas, so I shared their sale last year. But this year, we've set up our own store.

  • A cracker of a debut sale on ozbargain 👍

    Open an Alibaba/AliExpress account…
Bulk buy a bunch of random things
    Buy a domain name
    Subscribe to Shopify
    Make a website
List all the cheap shit you bought from Alibaba/Express
Spam OzBargain as per the Facebook "Mum and Dad-trepreneur" group PDF E-book
Sit back and watch for the money to just roll in…
    ???
    Profit

    • And of course, don't even bother registering for GST

Though, based on this post, I don't think they'd surpass $75k…

      • Unlike the furniture guy with the really expensive stuff and still taking the GST but also wasnt registered… just pocket that 10% I guess…

    • Can confirm our items aren't from Alibaba/AliExpress - they're from businesses located around Australia, including individuals who hand make their items.
