Barista Pro Coffee Machine @ $715

    Link shows $965

    Read the posting rules…

the price should NOT include referral discount/credit, cashback (commission refunds), gift card discount, or negotiated price

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:title_guidelines

  • Bit skeptical about the cashback - has anyone tried and received the advertised cashback rate using WW online?

    • -2

yes i got it 100% confirmed

    • Yep mine is also confirmed

  • +1

If you can definitely get the cashback, this is a really good deal.

I've had this Machine since March 2021, use it every day, still doing great and haven't had to replace anything through necessity.

  • Has anyone successfully used gift cards and received cashback from Woolworths?

    • that's in terms and condition not allowed

      • t&c's state:

        Special notes from store

All promo codes & Everyday Rewards promotions are valid for Cashback.
Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption

It doesn't say allowed/not allowed, so hoping for someone with anecdotal evidence.

edit: i see now in the actual cashback exclusions it says any gift card payment method.

        damn.

Decent deal for the black colourway - looks like amazon ATL is 699

I got the velvet model for $674 in May 23, probably going to invest in a standalone grinder though tbh

    • +2

      5k WW points is worth 25 bux…
      so 715 - 25 WW credit = 690
      9 bux better?

    • These now have the Baratza Burrs grinder, it is actually very good.

      • yeaaaa its not too bad - maybe it's degraded over the last ~15 months.

I'm finding it's taking ages to grind 18 grams of coffee, probably more of a bean issue than grinder issue. I'm more concerned with the noise.

        • In Australia from what I have read they didn't switch to the Baratza Burrs (specifically M2) until Mid 2023, if you have the Baratza Burrs you had brilliant timing.

I don't have your issue yet, but I have read that Grinder Maintenance is required, due to oils on the beans. Should be some you tube videos, perhaps that fixes the issue. But also check it's not set too fine.

Cheers op, our machine just broke so was hoping for a bargain just like this. Purchased, and combined with the $10 off first everyday market purchase it'll come down to $705. Checked Ts & Cs and cashback is actually valid with promo codes for once.

    • i didn't risk for $10, but if you got the cashback additional benefit.

      • Yeah I usually wouldn't risk either, but the fact it specifically stated cashback is valid with all promo codes and there was only 1 exclusion which was gift cards, screenshotted and bit the bullet lol

    • What does 'broke' mean? I've only ever had hard rubbish machines. So far all been easily fixed. Ie. $5 elbow, o-rings, hose.
Sunbeam are a bit annoying to fix, but the Brevilles are pretty good.

      • A year ago the grinder stopped working and as it's out of warranty we have been quoted over $300 to fix that, and just a few days ago water started exploding/spraying out of the holes haha. Yeah, I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to fix it myself and with the prices we've been quoted, rather just get a new one lol. Definitely jealous of those skills though.

        • Yeah, the water spraying is pretty standard (plastic elbows crack from the heat). A bit dangerous with metal body machines. Surprised they are allowed to sell them (I replaced mine with brass - and I believe the new machines are now brass by default). Grinders can be a jammed stone or simply burnt out. I'd be interested in paying postage for your old machine if you are just going to chuck it? Been looking for a machine for my sister. Cheers.

P.S. the deal is not expired, you've incorrectly labelled the expiration as 12pm but it's actually 12am tonight, deal still valid for another 12 hours.

    • yeah if you go via woolworth online it is valid but if you search everyday market it is 5%.. so better order via Woolworth online.

Why does it say I would get 7898 points fouiyohhh

I'm pretty much reserved to the fact we'll never get a Dual Boiler deal again

    • +1

I still have mine I purchased for $599 from that legendary HN deal nearly a decade ago!

      Working fine!

    • This'll be a nice machine, but i'd still prefer the dual boiler with your own grinder for a bit more.

      • +3

Agree, but I chose this due to partner acceptance factor. Single appliance on the bench was an easier sell.
Must say though, this now comes with the Baratza Burrs grinder after Breville purchased Baratza, it's actually quite a good grinder, that you can adjust both the inner and outer. The outer being stepless although the UI shows steps. But no won't compete with a 1k grinder but also the point of diminishing returns. Myself as a complete amateur can make coffee better than 90% get going out. And day and night between my previous fully automatic.

    • +1

Don't say that - I'm currently refreshing ozbargain every day waiting for even a few hundred off

  • God damnit I was waiting to pull trig on this missed it

    • +1

Me too, oh well, back to waiting for a decent touch impress sale

Drats, purchased for $848 from JB the other week after my Delonghi automatic failed, better than I expected, but it is manual.

Disclaimer, not claiming this is as good or convenient as a double boiler, but does heat in ~3seconds.

Recommend watching some you tubes on how to "dial-in" (will need to adjust the inner grinder), but once you do friggin hell chalk and cheese compared to fully-auto.
    Tips:
    - Use Fresh Beans
    - Use the double non-pressurised basket
    - Use a puck screen (easy to cleaning)
    - Get scales
    Pro's will have their own strategy but for newbies;
    - Focus on getting the flow rate right, target 16-17grams in the double basket (counter intuitive, but coffee taste may get worse as you get finer, but ignore for now until the flow is like nice colour like honey and not too fast and not too thick).
< 16 grams and will likely get channeling, basically you want as little coffee as you can get without channeling (ie: look at the puck afterwards, if it's in a single solid piece then unlikely to have channeling). if you get channeling then add more coffee, but stay less than 18g.
    - Then focus on the amount of water to fine tune the extraction (initially target 1.5:1 or 2:1) so target ~56g with water.
    - Last tool is Temperature, but suggest leaving alone for now.
    - Just try and be consistent rather than get everything perfect.
With this model, focus on 1 cup end to end at a time, probably not ideal if you make dozens of coffees.

Anyway take with a grain of salt, as I am a manual Coffee noob, experts will likely comment what I am doing wrong, but had it around 2 weeks and the above worked for me.

  • My order just got cancelled. Put it through about 10 minutes ago :/

  • So when you remove the shower screen for cleaning, is there a single hole or a multiple hole water input?

Ie. Barista Express is a single hole, the Dual Boiler has multiple holes..

    What does the pro have?

  • This is crazy expensive!?

    • Deal was $715 after the $250 cashback offer, which is an excellent price for this.

  • Just got shipping notification, glad not cancelled
